Have you ever choked (噎住) on something during a meal and been unable to breathe? Do you know how to act when someone is choked? An 11-year-old girl from Shenyang, Liaoning Province became a hero after she saved a woman from choking by using the Heimlich manoeuvre (海姆立克急救法)—just days after learning it.
The event took place on 8th August, 2025, at a hot pot restaurant in Shenyang. Many people recorded it with a camera and soon shared the video online. Back at 16:00 that afternoon, Ms. Wu was drinking milk tea when something went down the wrong way and got stuck in her throat. She suddenly couldn’t breathe, so she stood up to ask for help by gesturing (做手势 ) to her partner and restaurant waiters. Her partner noticed that and he tried patting (拍打) her back. Restaurant waiters also rushed to her side to help, but no one knew about first aid.
At that moment, 11-year-old Hu Zihan, who was dining at a nearby table, rushed over. She stood behind Wu, put her arms around Wu’s stomach, and performed the Heimlich manoeuvre. Within 30seconds, some tapioca pearls (木薯珍珠) came out of Wu’s mouth, allowing her to breathe again. Wu quickly turned around and hugged Hu to thank her.
It is reported that Hu is a volunteer of the Liaoning Provincial Red Cross Society. She had just learned the Heimlich manoeuvre during a training lesson seven days before. “Everyone should learn first aid because it is for everyone. In emergencies, knowing first aid can truly save lives.” Hu said.
23. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By telling a story. B. By using numbers. C. By asking questions.
24. Which of the following is TRUE according to paragraph 2?
A. The event is not widely shared on social media.
B. Ms. Wu couldn’t breathe because she had something stuck in her throat.
C. Restaurant waiters rushed to her and patted her back.
25. What did Hu Zihan do first to help Ms. Wu?
A. She gave Ms. Wu water to drink.
B. She called the 120 hotline right away.
C. She stood behind her and held her stomach.
26. What can we learn from Hu’s words in the last paragraph?
A. First aid can make a difference between life and death.
B. Health is not everything, but you can have nothing without it.
C. A problem shared is a problem halved.

The Uyuni Salt Flat (乌尤尼盐沼), located in southwestern Bolivia, is known as the “Mirror of the Sky”. After the rain, this place looks like a mirror. It shows the sky so clearly that you can’t tell the difference between the ground and the sky. The amazing mirror effect doesn’t come out of thin air. It is made possible by three key factors (要素).
The first and most important factor is the flat (平整的) ground. The Uyuni Salt Flat has one of the flattest surfaces in the world. It formed after ancient lakes dried up slowly. As lake water evaporated (蒸发), a thick, even salt layer (层) was left, making the ground nearly perfectly flat. Light rain covers the salt with a thin layer of water, turning the salt flat into a big natural mirror.
The rainfall also plays an important role. It can’t be a storm. Just enough rain to cover the layer of salt is perfect. If the rain is heavy, water holes will form and the mirror effect will be lost.
Besides, calm weather is necessary for the clear mirror effect. Even a small wind can make waves on the water. These waves will break up the clear reflection and take away the magical experience.
The mirror effect mainly appears during the rainy season, which runs from December to March. If you want to see the beautiful view, you need to know that the effect doesn’t last long. When the water evaporates under the sun, the “mirror” disappears and the ground turns back into hard, white salt.
27. What does the underlined part “come out of thin air” in paragraph 1 mean?
A. 在稀薄空气中发生 B. 在晴朗的天空中发生 C. 无缘无故发生
28. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A. The process of ancient lakes drying up.
B. The role of rainfall in creating the mirror effect.
C. The importance of wind in forming the “mirror”.
29. When should we go to the Uyuni Salt Flat if we want to see the mirror effect?
A. In February. B. In June. C. In November.
30. Where can we probably read this passage?
A. In the local newspaper. B. In science fiction. C. In the national geographic magazine.

第四部分 读写综合 (共两节,满分25分)
第一节 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Deep in central Shanghai, a quiet but powerful movement is on the rise. An increasing number of middle-school students are walking out of their classrooms and into their communities—not for homework, but to volunteer.
Take 14-year-old Linda from Jing’an District for example. Every Saturday morning, she teaches basic computer skills to the elderly at a local community center. “Many of them have never used a smartphone before,” Linda says with a smile. “When they finally learn how to video-call their grandchildren, their eyes light up. That’s the best present that I have ever received.”
This does not only happen in Shanghai. Across China, schools are encouraging students to attend meaningful social practice as part of their moral education (德育). In late 2025, the Ministry of Education (教育部) even issued new guidelines, asking schools to integrate (融合) community service into the lessons.
Why does this matter? Experts say volunteering helps young people develop empathy (同理心) and responsibility. Besides, their real-world problem-solving skills also improve. Those qualities cannot be measured by test scores alone. “It’s about raising citizens, not just students,” explains Dr. Wang, an education researcher at Fudan University.
Moreover, these experiences often inspire bigger dreams. Some students start environmental clubs after cleaning up a park; others organize book donation activities after visiting village schools. Their small actions influence others around them—more classmates join in, and the whole community becomes friendlier and more connected.
As one student put it, “We’re not waiting to grow up to make a difference. We’re doing it now.”
56. Why are Shanghai middle-school students walking into their communities?

【答案】27. C 28. B 29. A 30. C

【28题详解】
根据第3段“The rainfall also plays an important role.”,本段核心内容是介绍降雨量在镜面效果形成过程中起到的作用,对应B选项。
【29题详解】
根据最后一段“The mirror effect mainly appears during the rainy season, which runs from December to March.”,镜面效果的出现时间是每年12月到次年3月,二月(February)处于这个时间段内,符合要求。
