Make yourself look tidy、Smile more often和关于姿势的段落,因此共三个方面。
由第二段“but as teenagers, wearing clean and neat clothes comes first”可知,整洁(tidiness)最重要,而非尺码或风格。
空白处对应关于姿势的段落,内容为“improve your posture”“stand and sit up straight”,因此小标题应为“Have beautiful posture”。
开头“Looking your best means...”
B
When I was a kid, my two brothers and I would stay with Grandparents for a week during summer vacation. We always looked forward to spending every moment with them, especially Grandpa, the “hero” in our eyes.
Grandpa became blind when he was 20 years old, but it never slowed down the strong-willed man. He worked in a shop every day. Customers would give him money, and he would return the right change and give them exactly what they wanted. He had many friends who visited the shop just to talk to him, and at that time, I helped to hand customers their drinks and snacks. This made me feel grown-up.
He also cooked lunch and washed dishes while Grandma worked. As a boy, I would watch him move around the house from room to room as if he could see. I was so surprised about how he moved from cooking to washing the dishes, never making a mistake.
It seemed like every time I stayed with him, we would visit someone in the evening who was weak or very sick. Although he can’t see things, he never let it stop him from working and being kind to others. His love for people never ended.
During those weeks, he taught me many lessons that I still treasure today. They take me back to those days and remind me how special he was. I miss every moment I stayed with him. To this day, I still dislike hearing someone say, “I can’t do that,” because I knew a blind man who never said those words.
6. What can we learn about Grandpa?
A. He had few friends. B. He lived like a normal person. C. He became blind at 25 years old.
7. Which of the following best describes Grandpa?
A. Active but shy. B. Strong - willed and caring. C. Kind but strict.
8. What does the underlined part “those days” refer to?
A. The time with Grandpa. B. The time with the friends. C. The time with the neighbors.
9. What lesson does the writer learn from Grandpa?
A. Family is important. B. We should work hard. C. Anything is possible.
10. Where is the text probably taken from?
A. A storybook. B. A film review. C. A science magazine.
6. B 7. B 8. A 9. C 10. A

根据原文“Grandpa became blind when he was 20 years old”可知他20岁失明,C项“25岁”错误;由“He had many friends”可知A项“朋友少”错误;全文描述祖父虽失明但生活如常,B项“他活得像个正常人”符合。
由原文“but it never slowed down the strong-willed man”可知他意志坚强;由“His love for people never ended”和帮助他人可知他关爱他人,故“意志坚强且关心他人”最贴切。

由前文“he taught me many lessons that I still treasure today”及后文“remind me how special he was”可知,“those days”指代“与祖父共度的那些日子”。

In a professional article, AI is praised as a tool for sustainable construction, “In recent years, AI has become a promising tool for construction. AI can examine a large number of data sets on weather conditions and help to make full use of building systems for energy efficiency, water protection and other goals.”
AI can be used to speed up the future of sustainable construction to set standards for the industry, and make construction more efficient and affordable. Like any other computer, AI is a tool that is particularly good at studying data sets, but for the moment it still requires smart and ethical (有道德的) human beings to lead its work. All of that has to be done with respect for humans, so it’s really up to us to make it work.

B. Humans’ future depends on AI.
C. It’s difficult to develop AI.
15. What is the text mainly about?

D
“What do you think I should do?” asks your friend as she sits beside you, waiting for your advice. This is no easy situation. Say something your friend disagrees with or something helpless, and you might feel you’ve disappointed her.
It’s human nature to want to offer solutions when someone comes to you with a problem. It’s also easy to fall into the trap of simply saying that “Everything will be OK”. ____16____ But we often say that because we believe we need to say something. This is because we’re glad that our friend has come to us for help, even if we don’t really think we’re able to give it. ____17____ The answer is yes if it’s done in the right way.
In fact, friends often really only want someone to listen to them. It’s important to try to work out whether they’re actually asking for advice or simply wanting to talk over whatever is going round in their head. ____18____ There’s no harm in asking whether they’d like you to give suggestions.
It’s also important to be honest. If you’re unable to think of a way to solve your friend’s problem, just say so. Your friend won’t feel upset, and you can still listen carefully and try to put yourself in their shoes. ____19____ You can ask yourself, “What would I do if I were to experience the same thing?” Later, you can go back to your friend with a few helpful suggestions.
____20____ It can be hard to listen to your friend going over and over the same thing without being able to help them. They will certainly be thankful if you just allow them to “talk it out”, though. Maybe they’re building up courage to take action and need to convince (说服) themselves they’re doing the right thing. Just being there for them may be all you have to do to make things better.
A. Friendship is the most important thing to us.
B. This is not actually useful for your friend.
C. So is it a good idea to try to give advice at all?
D. Sometimes a problem doesn’t go away overnight.
E. Talking may make people feel better all by themselves.
F. Then you can go away and try to think of something helpful.
B 17. C 18. E 19. F 20. D
前一句提到人们常会随口说“一切都会好起来的”,B选项“This is not actually useful for your friend.”
后文给出回答:如果方式恰当,提建议是可行的,C选项“So is it a good idea to try to give advice at all?”
本段强调很多时候朋友只是需要倾诉,E选项“Talking may make people feel better all by themselves.”
前文讲到可以换位思考体会朋友的处境,F选项“Then you can go away and try to think of something helpful.”
本段核心内容是耐心倾听朋友反复诉说烦心事,D选项“Sometimes a problem doesn't go away overnight.”
Green Street used to be quiet and common. It had little community activity, but things have changed over the past few years. A group of neighbors, led by Sarah, decided to change an unused corner of the street into a community garden. She was inspired after seeing similar projects in nearby towns and thought, “Why not ____21____ it here?”
The project began with just a few flower beds, but soon many vegetables and herbs were ____22____. The garden is thriving (繁荣的) day by day. The neighbors are glad because it is useful for their lives. And anyone in the area can contribute or take what they need. Sarah encourages the neighbors to join by organizing workshops on planting and harvesting (收获). “It’s not just about growing food; it’s about growing friendships,” she says.
Some people were doubtful at first, worrying that the garden might be broken or misused. However, it has finally become a space where people of all ages gather, share knowledge, and enjoy the ____23____ produce. Local children, who often prefer fast food, have surprised everyone by eagerly trying the fresh vegetables they’ve grown themselves. Their parents are really happy to see the ____24____.
The project has even encouraged other streets in the town to create their own green spaces. “It’s amazing what can ____25____ when a community comes together,” Sarah says. “This isn’t just about plants; it’s about bringing life back to Green Street.”
21. A. remain B. visit C. try
22. A. dug B. added C. bought
23. A. fresh B. magic C. unusual
24. A. messages B. symbols C. changes
25. A. happen B. doubt C. educate
21. C 22. B 23. A 24. C 25. A
由前文“She was inspired after seeing similar projects in nearby towns”可知,她受到启发,想在自己社区尝试类似项目,因此用try(尝试)。remain(保留)和visit(参观)均不符合“动手去做”的语境。
前文提到“flower beds”,后文“The garden is thriving”说明植物被“添加/种植”到花园里,added符合被动语态(were added)。
magic(神奇的)和unusual(不寻常的)均不贴切。
messages(信息)和symbols(象征)均不匹配。
doubt(怀疑)和educate(教育)均不符合句意。

The goal of the “education system” is to train the orangutans to be able to live in the wild again and look after themselves. They won’t have to stay at school forever! After the older orangutans are set free into the forest, there is no more connection with the people from the school. They now have to live as wild orangutans again and ____31____ by the other orangutans who are already there.

Grow Your Own Vegetables
Have you ever eaten a tomato that you picked from your own garden? There’s something special about the taste of vegetables grown by yourself. Growing your own vegetables is not only fun but also good for you and the environment.
First, it’s easy to start. You don’t need a big garden—even a few pots (花盆) on a balcony (阳台) work. You can choose simple vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce or carrots. They grow quickly and don’t need too much care. Just make sure they get enough sunlight and water.
Growing your own vegetables saves money. Vegetables from the supermarket can be expensive, especially organic ones. When you grow them at home, you don’t have to spend money buying them. Also, you can pick them when they are ripe (成熟的), which means they taste better than those that have been transported (运输) long distances.
It’s also good for the planet. Supermarket vegetables are often treated with lots of chemicals to keep them fresh during transport. When you grow your own, you can avoid these chemicals. You also reduce plastic waste because you don’t need plastic bags to carry your home-grown vegetables.
“Growing vegetables teaches me patience,” says 14-year-old Lily. “I wait for weeks for my tomatoes to turn red, and when they do, it feels like a big success. I also share them with my neighbors, and we all enjoy the fresh taste.”
When you start growing, follow these steps:
________: Pick a sunny place. If you use pots, choose ones with holes at the bottom for water to flow (流) out.
Choose seeds: Buy good-quality seeds from a garden shop. Read the instructions to know when to plant them.
Plant the seeds: Put soil in the pots, plant the seeds and cover them with a little soil. Water them gently.
Take care: Water your plants regularly. Remove weeds (杂草) that grow around them.

A. Family is important. B. We should work hard. C. Anything is possible.
10. Where is the text probably taken from?
A. A storybook. B. A film review. C. A science magazine.

Construction (建筑) is one of the biggest users of energy and one of the biggest polluters. According to AI Magazine, construction is responsible for using 38% of world energy. The building part alone takes up almost 55% of final energy use and 33% of greenhouse gases. It’s also well known that steel produces too much material waste in building construction.
Because of this big challenge, the future of sustainable (可持续的) construction may lie with AI. AI is able to study building efficiency (效率) performance by grouping data to find the best chances for sustainable material usage. With a tool like AI, the future of sustainable construction could progress much faster than in the past. Besides, AI helps architects (建筑师) work with new tools and sustainable materials to create our better buildings and cities of the future. For example, construction 3D printing guided by AI can offer better choices for building materials to save money, and map out how construction materials could be recycled.
11. How is paragraph 1 developed?
A. By listing numbers. B. By telling stories. C. By expressing feelings.
12. How can AI help architects?
A. Produce sustainable steel. B. Choose sustainable materials. C. Invent recyclable 3D printers.
13. Which best explains the underlined word “promising” in paragraph 3?
A. Facing challenges. B. Needing improving. C. Having a bright future.
14. What does the writer suggest in the last paragraph?
A. It’s humans’ duty to guide AI.
B. Humans’ future depends on AI.
C. It’s difficult to develop AI.
15. What is the text mainly about?
A. AI recycles construction wastes.
B. AI may take the place of architects.
C. AI helps sustainable construction.
