The canteen has all the eight great cuisines (菜系) of China, and more than 30 kinds of breakfast dishes for people to choose. The robots in the canteen are so smart that they can make lots of tasty food. After cooking, the robots put the food into boxes. People can eat the food there and they can also take the food away.
How can people pay for the food in the AI canteen? What people have to do is to place their food on a smart desk and the computer will tell them the price of the meal. People can pay it in many ways, such as bank cards, QR codes (二维码) and paper money.
At the canteen’s food areas, people can find different kinds of foods for their meals. For example, if people like spicy food, they can go to the Sichuan food area. If people like sweets, they can go to the Guangdong food area.

In real life, Andersen was like an ugly duckling. In 1805, Andersen was born in a poor family in Denmark. As a young boy, Andersen was tall, ugly and had a very big nose. His friends always laughed at him. Even worse, little Andersen needed to make money by himself after his father died in 1816. When he was 17, he met a manager (经理) of a theatre. With the manager ’s help, Andersen went back to school. He had to study with children younger than him. It was there that he began writing.
His first storybook became famous and successful when it came out in 1835. Hard life made him write lots of stories. With beautiful words and great ideas, his stories could always win children ’s hearts. Children could feel his kindness and love in his stories. The poor ugly boy from Denmark soon became more and more famous, just like the ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan.

Having a good sleep is important. If you have a sleeping problem, there is an easy way to help you improve your sleep. You may need to see more sunlight, especially (尤其是) in the morning, according to a study.
A team of researchers (研究人员) from New York, US did the study. The team did a study on 109 office workers across the US. They found that some of the workers see lots of light during the morning hours, between 8 a.m. and lunchtime. The researchers found that these workers slept better than other workers. They also fell asleep more quickly at night.
Why is sunlight so important to our sleep? Researchers say it helps us set our “body clock”. When there is less and less sunlight at the end of the day, our body starts to make melatonin (褪黑素). It makes us feel sleepy so that we know it’s time to go to bed. Our body makes the most melatonin at night. But during the day sunlight tells our body to make less melatonin so that we can stay awake (醒着) and do our work.
Researchers advise that we should see 15 minutes of sunlight in the morning. It can help balance the melatonin in our bodies.
32. What is the easy way to improve sleep in the passage?
A. Get more morning sunlight. B. Drink warm milk every night.
C. Take exercise before bed. D. Go to bed very early.

33. What does “They” in bold in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. The studies. B. The mornings.
C. The researchers. D. The office workers.
34. What makes people want to sleep?
A. Sunlight. B. Melatonin. C. Bright light. D. Fresh air.
35. How much morning sunlight do researchers say we need?
A. Five minutes. B. Ten minutes.
C. Fifteen minutes. D. Twenty minutes.
A 33. C 34. B 35. C

Let’s take the mascots for the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin 2025 as an example. They are two cute Northeast tigers. Their names are Binbin and Nini.
根据上文“Animals are everywhere in our life... Scientists say our DNA is 97% like some mammals.”,前文一直在强调动物与人类生活的紧密联系以及生物学上的相似性。B选项“Animals are very important in our lives.”
以及下文“The special clothes not only show...” C选项“Nini has a beautiful traditional Chinese snow dress.”
根据上文“In fact, there is a study showing that about 75 kinds of animals die out every day.”,此处描述了动物面临的严峻形势。F选项“Binbin and Nini encourage us to save the animals in danger!”承接上文的危机现状,引出下文“We should live in peace with animals around us.”
根据下文“First, we can start by learning more about animals...”,这一段主要是在讲具体的保护措施。A选项“What should we do to protect animals?”
根据下文“These groups plan interesting activities.” E选项“Next, joining groups to protect animals in danger also works.”

根据后文“They walked together and played with him every day.” wait for“等待”、check on“检查”、laugh at“嘲笑”均不符合两人悉心照料小狮子的语境。
watched“观看”、walked“步行”、followed“跟随”均不能与“in their car”构成合理的动作搭配。
根据前文“Clearly, he could not live with John and Anthony any more.”
根据后文“They wanted to see Christian again.” went back to“回到”符合语境。
from“从”、under“在……
根据前文“It took a long time.”
根据后文“He ran over and jumped up on them.”
根据后文“ran towards them right away”可知,狮子并没有忘记他们。 looked for“寻找”、cared for“照顾”、forgot about“忘记”均不符合语境。
空前“He was much too big now”与空后“he easily knocked the two men onto the ground”之间是因果关系。
took通常用于“It takes sb. time to do sth.”
根据后文“John and Anthony felt a little sad to leave him”可知,他们是在和狮子告别。
根据转折词“but”以及后文“Christian could live freely and safely in Africa”可知,看到狮子在自然中过得好,他们内心是感到欣慰和高兴的。

Dear Paul,
It’s great to hear that you’ll study at our school next term. I’m really excited to meet you!
Don’t be worried. All classmates here are friendly and ready to make new friends. On weekends, we have many relaxing activities. Most students like reading in the city library because it’s quiet and we can learn new things. Some also ride bikes in the park. It makes us strong and close to nature.
Last weekend, I went cycling with my best friend. We enjoyed fresh air and talked happily. Later we read storybooks in the library. It was simple but wonderful. You can join us when you come. We will hang out together on weekends.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Yours,
Li Hua
