47-year-old Ni Shuxian comes from Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region She first took up skateboarding at the age of 38. Years ago when she travelled to the seaside and watched people surfing (冲浪), she fell deeply in love with this exciting sport and thought it was the most wonderful activity. However, there is no sea in her hometown, so she chose skateboarding as a special way to “surf” on land.
Ni taught herself skateboarding by watching online videos and taking free online classes. She learned basic skills quickly in just one week. Now skateboarding is an important part of Ni’s daily life. She enjoys that very much. She usually practices in the city park from 6 to 8 o’clock every morning. She moves freely on her board and can even finish a difficult 360° turn, which surprises most people around her.
Ni’s great skateboarding skills attract (吸引) teenagers and many middle-aged women. She runs an 18-person skateboarding group, with ten members aged around 50. Skateboarding keeps the members fitter and helps them discover new sides of themselves. Wang, its oldest member, says Ni helped her rediscover herself. She once feared falling but now loves gliding (滑行) freely on a skateboard.
For these ladies, skateboarding is more than a common sport. It keeps them healthy, happy and full of energy. “For us, skateboarding is a way of life. We will never give it up,” Ni said.
3. Why did Ni choose skateboarding instead of real surfing?
A. Because her hometown has no sea for surfing.
B. Because she was not good at swimming in the sea.
C. Because she thought skateboarding was wonderful.
4. What does the underlined word “that” refer to?
A. Doing the difficult 360° turn
B. Learning skateboarding skills online
C. Skateboarding becoming part of her life
5. What is the main idea of paragraph 3?
A. Ni’s amazing skate skills in skateboarding.
B. Wang’s great progress in skateboarding.
C. Ni’s help to others through skateboarding
6. What can we infer (推断) about Ni and her group members?
A. They can become best skateboarders soon.
B. They will keep playing skateboarding in their life.
C. They only practice skateboarding to keep healthy.
A 4. C 5. C 6. B
根据第一段“However, there is no sea in her hometown, so she chose skateboarding as a special way to ‘surf’ on land.”
根据第二段“Now skateboarding is an important part of Ni’s daily life. She enjoys that very much.”
根据最后一段“For us, skateboarding is a way of life. We will never give it up.”
C
Did people in ancient China keep pets? The answer is a clear yes. Let’s take a closer look.
In ancient times, emperors and their families kept cats as pets, just like cat lovers today. Take Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty for example. Each of his cats had its own helper. The cat Shuang Mei was one of his favorites. When it died, the emperor ordered his officials to hold a special service and write stories for it.
During the Qing Dynasty (朝代), there were special houses for dogs in the palace (宫殿). Emperor Yongzheng loved dogs so much that he made clothes for them himself. In the late Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi once kept hundreds of Pekingese dogs in her palace.
In the palace, there were also some surprising animals. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Yi, the ruler of Wei, loved cranes (鹤) so deeply that he even gave them official names and many gifts. Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty kept an elephant as a pet. Emperor Xuanzong of the Ming Dynasty had a strong love for cricket (蟋蟀) fighting and asked people from all areas to send him the best crickets.
From the Song Dynasty, common people started keeping pets, especially, dogs and cats, in their daily lives. In cities, special pet markets showed up, and people sold pet food there.
It’s easy to tell that pets were common in ancient China. The love for pets was everywhere.
7. How does the writer show emperors’ love for cats?
A. By giving an example.
B. By telling fun stories.
C. By listing numbers.
8. Which of the following is TRUE according to paragraphs 3 and 4?
A. Emperor Yongzheng built special houses for dogs himself.
B. Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty liked elephants a lot.
C. Emperor Xuanzong fought with people to get the best crickets.
9. What is the structure (结构) of the passage?
A. ①②/③④⑤/⑥ B. ①②/③/④⑤⑥ C. ①/②③④⑤/⑥
10. What might be the best title for the passage?
A. Emperors’ love for special pets
B. Different pets in ancient China
C. Fun ways to keep pets long ago
A 8. B 9. C 10. B
第二段出现“Take Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty for example”,作者通过举嘉靖皇帝养猫的实例,展现帝王对猫的喜爱。
第四段原文“Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty kept an elephant as a pet.”
When we are young, we learn to use food to show our feelings. We plan family dinners, treat our friends from far away and make traditional (传统) food during festivals.
____11____ For example, you may eat a lot more than usual when losing a game. The bad news is that eating for feelings doesn’t help. It doesn’t make you feel better. It only makes you tired, stops you from sleeping well, and makes you sick. ____12____
First, know what you are feeling. If your stomach (胃) makes a sound, that is real hunger (饥饿). But if there is no sound and you still feel hungry, ask yourself: Am I eating because of my feelings? ____13____
____14____ You should have meals at about the same time every day. Try to leave three to five hours between meals. If you follow this plan, you can stop eating without thinking and keep healthy.
Last, don’t be angry with yourself for eating because of feelings. ____15____ Sometimes a mistake is a good chance to learn for next time. So try to talk to yourself in a kind way next time.
Follow this advice from now on! You can eat well even when you are very worried!
A. Luckily, here are some ways to stop this.
B. Second, when you eat is also important.
C. But sometimes we eat just because of our feelings.
D. This only makes your feelings stronger, and you may eat more.
E. If the answer is yes, it is your mind, not your body, asking for food.
C 12. A 13. E 14. B 15. D
C项“But sometimes we eat just because of our feelings.”中的“But”与上文构成转折,“because of our feelings”与下文“eating for feelings”构成呼应,起到引出话题的作用。
A项“Luckily, here are some ways to stop this.”中的“Luckily”与上文“bad news”构成转折,“some ways”与下文的“First, Second, Last”构成总分关系,起到承上启下的作用。
E项“If the answer is yes, it is your mind, not your body, asking for food.”中的“If the answer is yes”与上文的提问构成问答对应,“your mind, not your body”解释了情绪化进食的本质,符合语境。
B项“Second, when you eat is also important.”中的“Second”与上文的“First”构成逻辑顺序,“when you eat”与下文“at about the same time every day”构成呼应,作为段落主题句统领全段。
D项“This only makes your feelings stronger, and you may eat more.”中的“This”指代上文的“be angry with yourself”,“makes your feelings stronger”与下文“learn for next time”形成对比,构成因果衔接,符合语境。

found 意为“发现”,应用found。
根据后文“Emily found that their needles can take in tiny water drops from fog”可知,这里在探究“方式/方法”,应用How。
根据前文“take in tiny water drops from fog”可知,水是从雾中收集的,所以是在“有雾的”日子里,应用foggy。
根据后文“Each morning, she checked the device”可知,她是在“夜晚”把装置放在外面收集雾气,应用night。
work out problems 意为“解决问题”,应用work out。

该处用现在进行时作谓语;right now(此刻)强调当下正在行进的动作,主语you,be动词搭配are,take变形为taking。

I'm Li Ming, a 14-year-old boy. One stormy day last month, my friends and I had a very special experience.
That morning, we were excited to climb Mount Huangshan. But dark clouds came and the rain poured down, so we had to stay in a rest area. Just then, we noticed some people in red vests (背心)—the “Welcoming Pine” helpers! Some gave out hot ginger (姜) tea. Others showed the way to the tourists. Their kindness warmed us and made us forget the bad weather.
Suddenly, we noticed a woman on a wet stone. She hurt her leg badly while running in the rain. A helper put his jacket around her and then called the rescue (援救) team. Other helpers stayed by her side to calm her down. My friends and I held umbrellas over her. Soon, rescuers arrived and carried her down.
The woman was thankful and said, “Thank you! You are just like the famous pine tree that welcomes everyone!” I was very proud and happy. They set a good example for me, so I decided right then to join this great team.
The team started in 2007 with only a few members, but now it has 570 helpers and 9 service stations, helping over 700,000 visitors a year. The helpers always say, “We want every visitor to feel at home here.” The “Welcoming Pine” helpers taught me that a kind heart can make any day bright.
