Do you like reading stories by the Danish (丹麦的) writer Hans Christian Andersen? This year (2025) is his 220th birthday! A famous magazine invited the readers from all over the world to share their own stories about reading Andersen’s works.
Jakub Olesiuk said, “Andersen’s stories were a big part of my childhood(童年) because my mum read to me before bed. My favorites were The Ugly Duckling and The Little Match Girl. The Ugly Duckling is about growing up. As the duckling learns: You are not what others say you are — you are what you grow to become. The Little Match Girl shows how people don’t care about poor children. The picture of the little girl walking in the snow without shoes still makes me sad. Every New Year’s Eve, I remember to be thankful for what I have.”
Patrick McCarthy said, “I was surprised to see how dark some of Andersen’s stories were. In The Red Shoes, for example, a girl is cursed because she wears the magic red shoes. Although she is really tired, she can’t stop dancing. The story that stayed with me the most is The Emperor’s New Clothes. When I was little, I thought it was just a silly story. Why didn’t anyone say the emperor didn’t wear clothes? But now I see this kind of thing in real life. In US President (总统) Donald Trump’s second term, he keeps making bad choices like adding more tariffs (关税). Still, many people are afraid to speak up. Hi Susan,
I hope you’re doing well! I am really happy to tell you all about my trip to Sydney. We left our city on Friday afternoon. The ride was so smooth that I almost forgot we were thousands of meters in the air. We arrived bright and early on Saturday. The sun was shining, and I was excited to experience something new!
On the first day, we went to see the Sydney Opera House. It’s really big and cool, like a huge white shell by the water. We took lots of pictures because it looked so cool in the sunshine. Then we walked around the Royal Botanic Garden, enjoying the beautiful sights of the harbor (港口). There were so many beautiful flowers and tall green trees.
Yesterday was even more exciting as we visited Taronga Zoo. I saw kangaroos (袋鼠) jumping around. And guess what? I even fed a giraffe! Its long neck was amazing. Later, we went to Bondi Beach. The sand was so soft and I played in the water happily, running and laughing.
I’m having a great time here. Sydney is beautiful, and there’s so much to do. I wish you were here with me to enjoy it! I can’t wait to tell you more when I fly back next Friday.
Best wishes,
Jimmy

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Hi Susan,
I hope you’re doing well!
Best wishes,
Jimmy
