When our pet dogs or cats fall ill, we rush them to an animal doctor right away. But what about mountain gorillas (大猩猩) that live in the wild? They may get hurt or sick too, but there are no proper hospitals for them. That is exactly why wildlife doctors are so important.
Wild mountain gorillas face many dangers every day, including traps (陷阱), diseases and the loss of their living places. Luckily, there are kind people working to save them. They have received good training to look after these gorillas well. Unlike animal doctors who work in clean city hospitals, wildlife doctors spend most of their time in faraway rainforests and high mountains. They work in small teams and usually stay out in the wild from morning till night.
Because of this, wildlife doctors work in very different ways. They cannot bring wild gorillas to hospitals, so they use a special gun (枪) to give medicine from far away to make them calm before they get close. Then they treat wounds right in the forest, like cleaning the cuts caused by traps. All these have to be done quickly and carefully because scared gorillas can hurt people. After treatment, they put a special tool on the gorillas to track their daily activities. This way, they can see where the gorillas go and make sure they stay healthy.
The work is tiring and sometimes dangerous, but every life they save makes all their hard work meaningful. In 2020, a baby gorilla got caught in a trap. The doctors hiked quickly up the mountain, freed it and cleaned its wounds. Then they carried the baby back to its family. Thanks to the efforts of the wildlife doctors, the number of wild mountain gorillas has increased by 25% in the last 20 years. They are proud to protect these endangered animals and keep nature safe for our planet’s future.

A. By telling a funny story. B. By listing numbers.
C. By sharing different ideas. D. By comparing two situations.

The Big Debate
Now, almost every teenager has a smartphone. This has become a problem in many families: should parents check their children’s phones?
Last week, we invited our readers to vote on this question. We received 3,245 votes in total. The result is shown in the pie chart on the right.
Here are some opinions from the readers:
I think parents should check our phones. My mom once found out that a stranger was sending me bad messages. She helped me block (屏蔽) him and taught me how to stay safe. Without my parents checking my phone, I might be in great danger.
— Lily, 13
I don’t agree. Everyone has their privacy. My parents often look through my phone without asking first. I feel like they don’t trust me at all. It makes me want to hide secrets from them even more.
— Tom, 14
There is no need to be completely against parents checking phones. Sometimes we even talk about funny videos or interesting news we see on my phone together. My parents check my phone sometimes. But they keep my secrets to themselves. This way, I feel both safe and respected.
— Amy, 15
I believe checking kids’ phones is a parent’s job. The Internet can be a dangerous place. Teenagers are not always wise enough to make good decisions. Parents need to know what their kids are doing online to protect them.
— Mr. Smith, a father of two
66. How many readers agreed that parents should check kids’ phones?
67. What might happen to Lily if her parents didn’t check her phone?

附加题
阅读理解。阅读下面短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中,选出能回答所提问题或完成所给句子的最佳答案,并将答题卡上对应题目所选的选项涂黑。(共5小题,每题2分,共10分)
“Look for the gap!” “Move into space!” Sound familiar? From the sidelines to the field, no matter what the team sport is, looking for relevant information in the playing environment can be as important as any other skill if you want to score. Think of Allen Iverson, Scott Pendlebury, or Steve Nash, coolly judging all the options before making important decisions. How do these excellent athletes become so great? As well as their physical strengths, their brainpower is an obvious advantage.
Regardless of whether an athlete is playing backyard cricket or Olympic basketball, their playing environment holds important information that must be found, explained and then acted on. Research conducted at Western Sydney University finds skilled players are better at looking for and seeing the options and what’s happening around them in the playing environment. They tend to look both at an opponent (对手) and at where they can move next. Less skilled players, however, might watch only one detail but not what is happening around them.
Skilled players are also often faster to make decisions compared to less skilled players, their experiences create more stored memories that help speed up their decision-making essentially, skilled players know what information is the most relevant to focus on and they act on it quickly.
Adding to this picture is new research that explores the negative impact of mental fatigue (疲倦) on physical performance. This work shows that our ability to exercise can be affected negatively after activities requiring long periods of thinking and mental effort, particularly when these activities are boring. It first considers the impact of using the brain so much that it makes you physically tired. This may be particularly relevant for coaches of young players shifting from the school day to training, especially if the day’s lessons have been complex. Coaches should therefore map out appropriate strategies by considering the amount of information they provide for athletes and the complexity of the tasks and instructions.
Overall, cognitive (认知) skills, like physical qualities, are key to high performance and even play a role in identifying future potential. Cognition could be a reliable marker of ability over time and could provide some basis for prediction of talent.
91. Why are some great athletes mentioned in the text?
A. To compare different sports. B. To honor their achievements.
C. To highlight physical training. D. To stress mental skills in sports.
92. According to paragraph 2, what advantage do skilled athletes tend to have?

C. More efficient teamwork. D. Stronger physical endurance.
93. Successful athletes make decisions quickly by _______.
A. referring to previous experience B. ignoring all outside distractions
C. learning from opponents’ strategies D. understanding coaches’ instructions
94. What does the author suggest coaches do after their players have had a hard school day?
A. Lengthen the warm-up for training.
B. Set the training intensity adaptively.
C. Prioritize physical over cognitive training.
D. Refer to their players’ previous performance.
95. What is the text mainly about?
A. The quality of sports talent.
