Community Service Warms Hearts
Last weekend, our school organized a voluntary activity in the nearby community, which was warmly received by the residents.
The event, featuring warm services, was carried out by a group of like-minded young volunteers. To better the community environment, they collected litter, planted trees, and distributed brochures on waste sorting. In addition to environmental cleanup, some caring activities were rolled out, including visiting seniors living alone, helping with housework, and providing companionship to children.
This activity proved highly rewarding. Not only did it strengthen the bond between the school and the community, but it also raised students’ sense of social responsibility.

67.参考范文
A week later, I was waiting at the same bus stop after school when I saw the familiar figure again. It was the old man, standing by the bench where he’d sat that cold morning. He spotted me at once, walking over with a bright smile, and held out a thick paper bag. He explained that the 100 yuan I gave him had bought him a hot meal and a day’s shelter, and he’d used the rest to get a part-time job at a nearby bakery. He’d been waiting here every day to return my kindness, and the bag was filled with the bakery’s warm bread and pastries, just like the breakfast I’d given up for him.
When I reached home, I opened the bag and was completely shocked. Tucked under the bread was a brand-new notebook, exactly the one I’d planned to buy with that 100 yuan, and a handwritten note: "Thank you for your kindness, young man. You reminded me that there is still beauty in this world." Tears filled my eyes as I realized my small act of sincerity had not only warmed the old man but also come back to me. This experience taught me that true kindness is a circle, and every act of goodness lights up the world.

Text 1
M: Hey, Julie, are you a fan of hip hop? I have a spare ticket to a concert tonight.
W: I’m afraid I’m not. I prefer classical music. My sister might like it, though. She’s just back from the countryside. You should call her.
Text 2
W: Summer vacation is coming. Where do you plan to go this year?
M: I’d like to go somewhere I’ve never been before, like Paris.
W: I prefer New York for the fashion. Or Milan, where the art is also great.
Text 3
W: Oh no, I forgot to turn the alarm clock on. I’m afraid I’ll be late for school.
M: Don’t worry, Lily. I can give you a lift.
W: It’s so kind of you.
Text 4
M: Please go away from the tall buildings as soon as possible.
W: Why? The shaking has stopped. It’s over.
M: Because the following small earthquakes can come soon. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
Text 5
W: I didn’t expect to see you here today. So how was the birthday party?
M: Not bad. The restaurant was first class and the food couldn’t be better, but the weather was not as expected. We had to stay inside most of the time.
Text 6
W: ⑥There’s no parking space here. Let’s drive on and check out somewhere else.
M: Didn’t you know that this hotel has no parking space at all?
W: When I called the hotel yesterday, I was told that they have some street parking spaces nearby, but today is Saturday.
M: How about parking our car in the parking lot near the theatre two miles away? ⑦Then we can take a taxi back here.
W: Okay.
Text 7
M: ⑩Cathy, I hear a new movie named Ne Zha 2 is on these days. Would you like to go with me Friday night?
W: ⑧I’d love to, Peter, but we need to work on the science project Friday night. Don’t you remember?
M: All right, what about tomorrow?
W: ⑨My cousin Susan invited me to her birthday party tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be free on Sunday. ⑩Shall we go on Sunday evening? Maybe?
M: ⑩Okay, let’s meet at seven o’clock in front of the cinema.

M: ⑬Hi, Catherine. It’s an honor to have you here with us today.
W: ⑬Thank you so much. It’s a pleasure to be here.
M: Catherine, as a famous actress, ⑪what advice would you give to young people looking for acting opportunities?
W: ⑪Just keep working and practicing. You have to push yourself and be eager for the work.
M: You’ve been an actress for 50 years, so how did you get into acting?
W: My older brother, Stephen Smith, was an actor and I admired him. And I was a big fan of Judy Black.
M: ⑫Did your brother teach you how to act?
W: ⑫No, I had a wonderful acting coach named Helen Miller. She taught me everything about acting.
M: ⑬Well, thanks for joining our audience today.
W: My pleasure. Thank you for having me.
Text 9
M: Nancy, can I have a word with you about your last article?
W: Of course, Mr. Green. Is there something wrong with it?
M: Well, ⑭I notice that your article seems a bit too perfect. ⑮Did you use AI to write it?
W: ⑮Uh, yes, I did. I thought its ideas sound really good.
M: I see. It is well structured, but somehow it doesn’t quite feel like you.
W: I guess I relied too much on what the AI gave me.
M: That’s the issue. AI can be helpful, but the purpose of writing an article is to form your own ideas. For instance, your earlier pieces included original examples from your experiences, which were quite impressive.
W: I see your point, but isn’t it okay to use AI as a tool? I mean, it’s everywhere now.
M: It’s fine to use it for information gathering or brainstorming, ⑯but don’t forget to stand up for yourself as a writer. Your voice and opinions are valuable.
W: ⑰Thank you, Mr. Green. I really appreciate your feedback.

W: ⑳Welcome to the South Africa wildlife experience programme. First, I’ll tell you about the working hours. ⑱The morning part runs from around 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A lunch break then follows, with the afternoon part usually running from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the evenings, there are animal shows and cross-cultural dance shows, or volunteers can relax in the swimming pool, in the tennis club or in the reading room. But I only like reading. ⑳Now, I’d like to tell you some of the things you can expect to do during the week. You’ll record animals and count animals. You’ll go to educational lectures and classroom activities. You’ll plant trees. You’ll help little animal babies that have no parents. ⑲You’ll feed and take care of elephants. Most volunteers like spending time with the elephants. Each volunteer will play a big part. Not only will you be playing a key role in saving the valuable wild animals for today’s people, but also you’ll protect them for the future generations. Thanks for joining us.

Let me tell you all about an amazing survival weekend trip with my class. When the bus picked us up from the school gate at six in the morning, IT was raining heavily, which wasn't great. However, IT hadn't rained in the forest. That was important because we needed dry places for our first survival activity, building shelters. There were three leaders, each responsible for ten students. After we were divided into three groups, we started collecting tree branches and leaves to build our shelters. Then we ate a light breakfast we have prepared at home. After breakfast, we learned how to build a fire safely. For lunch, we had hot dogs and potatoes cooked over the fire. After lunch, we put out the fire and got ready to look for food in the forest. Our leaders showed us which foods were safe. We returned late in the afternoon. Each group made their own team fire and learned to cook soup for supper over the fire with the things we had collected. IT was delicious. We all enjoy the trip. Li Wei, a 24-year-old college graduate, gave up a well-paid job in a big city and returned to his poor mountain village in the west of China three years ago.
When he was a child, the village was very quiet and poor. Most young people left to work in cities, leaving behind the elderly and young children. The roads were narrow and hard to walk on. There were no modern supermarkets or clean public toilets. Many good farm products, such as fresh vegetables and wild honey, could not be sold to other places because of the bad traffic.
Li Wei wanted to change his hometown. With the help of the local government’s rural revitalization (乡村振兴) policy, he started an online store to sell local farm products. He learned to take photos and make short videos to introduce the clean mountains, clear water and delicious food of his village. At first, few people bought his products. But he never gave up. He kept improving his videos and services.
Slowly, more and more people knew about the lovely village and its healthy products. His online business became successful. He also helped build new roads and clean public areas in the village. Now, more young people come back to start their own businesses. The village is no longer poor and quiet. It is full of life and hope.
“I love my hometown. It’s meaningful to build a better home with my own hands,” Li Wei said. “I hope more young people will join us and make our countryside more beautiful.”
24.Why did Li Wei return to his hometown?
A.Because he lost his job in the city.
B.Because he wanted to improve his hometown.
C.Because he didn’t like the life in big cities.
D.Because his family asked him to come back.
25.What was the village like when Li Wei was young?
A.It had wide clean roads. B.It was rich and lively.
C.Many young people lived there. D.It was poor and short of young people.
26.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Li Wei’s business was easy to succeed at first.
B.The local government supported Li Wei’s idea.
C.No young people will come back to the village.
D.The village is still the same as before.
27.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Li Wei built a successful online shop.
B.Many young people left the poor village.
C.A young man helped his hometown develop.
D.The village has clean mountains and clear water.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that most adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week, while you don’t need to exercise every day to be healthy. Exercising at least 150 minutes of moderate to intense activity at the weekend seems to have similar health benefits as spreading it out throughout the week.
To investigate whether it makes a difference when people exercise, Zhi-Hao Li at Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, China, and his teammates analyzed data in the UK Biobank study on the physical activity of more than 93,000 people, aged between 37 and 73. This was recorded by wrist accelerometers (加速度计), worn between 2013 and 2015. Most previous studies have relied on surveys, which can be unreliable.
Over eight years of follow-up, nearly 4,000 of the participants died. The researchers found that among people who did at least 150 minutes of weekly physical activity but packed it into one or two days, the risk of death from all causes was 32 percent lower than it was for people who didn’t manage this level of exercise. The risk of death from heart disease was 31 percent lower, and from cancer was 21 percent lower.
This might make it seem that exercising at the weekend is better than spreading out your physical activity, but there was no statistically significant difference in the risk of death between the “weekend warriors”, who fit their weekly physical activity into just one or two days, and those who were active more regularly. “This study adds to what we know about the ‘right’ way to be active. That is, there is no single ‘right’ way,” says I-Min Lee at Harvard Medical School. “Whether one is regularly active, or whether one bunches activity over only one to two days a week, it is equally beneficial.”
All the participants lived in the UK and about 97 percent were white, so the researchers write that additional studies that include a wider range of ethnicities are required to make them more applicable to general populations.
28.Why did the researchers analyze data from the UK Biobank?
A.To acquire abundant samples. B.To make the result more convincing.
C.To follow up participants easily. D.To compare it with previous surveys.
29.What did Zhi-Hao Li and his team find?
A.Daily exercise is a must for good health.
B.Weekend warriors face higher death risks.
C.Spreading out exercise is better than weekend exercise.
D.Weekend exercise and daily workouts are equally beneficial.
30.Which of the following may I-Min Lee agree with?
A.Skip weekday exercise completely.
B.Choose moderate activities as priority.
C.Pick an exercise pattern that suits you.
D.Get in a fixed amount of workout at weekends.
31.What does the last paragraph mainly focus on about the study?
A.Its future direction for improvement. B.Its potential application fields.
C.Its limitation on research methods. D.Its far-reaching significance.
D
Science fiction stories about machines “stealing” our jobs may soon become reality. However, if history is any indication, technological progress will create more jobs in different fields. The real question is not whether a machine will take your job, but whether you will rise to the challenge of learning to stay relevant. When you become a lifelong learner, you claim the power to face the future of work successfully.
What does it mean to be a lifelong learner? It is a cycle of “learn, unlearn, and relearn”. Learning something you are actually interested in is always enjoyable. Unlearning, however, is quite different. It means challenging and removing old ideas, beliefs, and assumptions so that new ones can grow. There are many metaphors for unlearning, for example: removing old paint before putting on a fresh coat. When a professor delivers a keynote speech online for the first time, he steps out of his comfort zone, unlearns “old ways” of doing things, and relearns the skill of working from home.
Lifelong learning is more important now than ever. The labor market has changed considerably in the past decade. According to a recent report, companies’ adoption of automation will transform tasks, jobs, and skills. Over the next five to ten years, employers will divide work between humans and machines roughly equally. Nearly half of workers will need to retrain their core skills.
Companies now hire based on skills rather than official qualifications. Self-management skills like active learning, toughness, and problem-solving skills are growing in importance.

As we become increasingly aware of the impact our actions have on the environment, more and more of us are looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. Throughout a given trip, both big and small decisions you make can greatly affect the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions (排放) produced by your holiday. 36 ? Here are some tips on enjoying a “green” holiday.
Keep it light on luggage (行李). Every single extra kilo you carry around drives up emissions.
37 Packing (收拾行李) with purpose can actively cut your carbon footprint. So you can travel with a more thoughtful, lighter bag. It’s a small change that can make a big difference.
Explore with care. 38 . Instead of fighting traffic, you might find hidden treasures by chance, and you’re more likely to meet new people. This habit can connect you with the city you’re visiting and help you know the city better.
39 . Be a big believer in asking questions, especially when it comes to a hotel’s impact on people and the planet. Ask your hotel to share how it sources renewable energy, saves water, and manages waste. If the hotel can’t show proof of similar action, keep digging. The more we, as tourists, ask similar questions, the more the industry will move toward responsible practices.
Do your part to protect the local community. Volunteer for a beach clean-up, join a reforestation project, or just pick up rubbish as you travel. Even such small efforts can help protect natural beauty for future generations. 40 .

I still remember the cold winter morning when I was waiting for the bus at the stop near my community. The wind was howling, and the snowflakes were dancing wildly in the air. I wrapped my scarf tightly around my neck, stamping my feet to keep warm, my eyes fixed on the road, hoping the bus would come soon.
Just then, I noticed an old man sitting on the bench beside the stop. He was wearing a worn-out coat, his hands trembling as he held a tattered cardboard sign that read: “Homeless, please help with any food or money.” Passers-by hurried past, most of them casting a quick glance and then looking away, as if he were invisible. Some even quickened their steps, afraid to make eye contact with him.
I felt a pang of sympathy in my heart. I reached into my pocket, where I had just taken out 100 yuan from the ATM to buy my favorite breakfast and a new notebook for school. I hesitated for a moment. If I gave the money to him, I would have to go without my breakfast and the notebook. But as I looked at his pale, cold face and his empty stomach, my hesitation faded. I walked over to him, handed him the 100 yuan, and said softly, “Sir, please buy something warm to eat.”
The old man looked up at me, his eyes filled with surprise and gratitude. He opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out. He just nodded repeatedly, tears rolling down his weathered cheeks. I smiled at him and turned back to wait for the bus, feeling a warm glow in my heart, even though the wind was still blowing fiercely.
The bus finally arrived, and I got on. As the bus pulled away, I looked back and saw the old man standing up, waving at me, the 100 yuan clutched tightly in his hand. I thought that was the end of the story, but I never expected what would happen a week later...

2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
A week later, I was waiting at the same bus stop after school when I saw the familiar figure again.
