Choosing to use an electric vehicle (EV) is exciting, but what about paying? Here are the four most common payment choices.
Contactless Payments
Contactless payments are perfect for drivers in a hurry. With contactless payments, you just tap your phone, and charging starts right away. Operators charge drivers small extra fees, and contactless payments don’t offer discounts.
App-Based Payments
For home charging users, the apps make it easy to track and manage home charging costs. For operators, app-based systems enable you to collect driver behavior data to improve station performance. New drivers might find the app download and account setup a bit troublesome. The phone signal is necessary for users.
Card Payments
For older drivers or those who prefer traditional payment methods, card payments are very accessible. For those operators, card readers are easy to set up and maintain and they’re a great alternative if contactless or app systems go wrong. Card payments carry small service fees. Also, card readers need regular care to prevent damage.
PnC Payments
In a PnC (Plug & Charge) EV charging process, charging starts once you plug in. Plug & Charge payments are linked to a contract (合同) associated with the vehicle and enabled by ISO 15118 using digital certificates.
A great EV charger payment system should make charging easier for both drivers and operators. These four payment methods are ready for you to choose from and backed by our round-the-clock after-sales service.
21. Which payment method needs mobile phone signal?
A. Contactless Payments. B. Card Payments.
C. App-Based Payments. D. PnC Payments.
22. What do Contactless Payments and Card Payments have in common?
A. They are suitable for hurried drivers. B. A contract is associated with vehicles.
C. Small extra fees are charged to drivers. D. They need regular care against damage.
23. Where is the text probably taken from?
A. An online blog. B. An advertisement. C. A science report. D. A fashion magazine.

Out of curiosity, I recently went to a comedy improv (即兴表演)lesson. It is something that smart, sharp comedians do, taking a subject or a word thrown out by the audience and on the spot creating something really clever around it. Initially, I was quite nervous about what we might be expected to do. However, it turned out that I need not have worried. I left convinced that improv could be just the thing for people who overthink or suffer from social anxiety.
In good improv, nothing is wrong. Last year, we were asked to draw in the air a type of vehicle which someone else could start a story about. We might be drawing a truck in the air, but they thought it was supposed to be a car. To carry on the story, we had to leave our own expectations behind and concentrate on whatever was presented to us. Gradually, it made us better listeners, and therefore better conversationalists. And the learning was filled with laughter.
Not trying to hide what we are feeling is another thing I learned from improv. Months ago, I was to teach an in-company course at a time when I found some ugly red spots on my cheeks. I realized that I couldn’t pretend they weren’t there and struggle with embarrassment, so I decided to be straightforward. After our introductions, I quickly informed them that the red spots, which were impossible to miss, were skin reactions and not infectious. That put smiles on their faces, and I could forget about it. Being open can, on the right occasions, be surprisingly freeing.
Improv strikes me as wonderfully safe and fun. So, if you are socially anxious, consider giving a beginner’s improv class a try. You can develop confidence, connect honestly with others and have a really good laugh all at once.
24. How did the author feel after attending a comedy improv lesson?
A. Satisfied. B. Embarrassed. C. Excited. D. Worried.
25. Why does the author mention the air-drawing performance?
A. To show one benefit of improv. B. To draw readers’ attention to the topic.
C. To explain detailed rules of improv. D. To stress the importance of concentration.
26. What can we learn from the example in paragraph 3?
A. A smile is the best makeup. B. Teamwork makes the dream work.
C. Think twice before speaking. D. A problem shared is a problem halved.
27. What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To share life achievements. B. To introduce the skills of improv.
C. To help people reduce anxiety. D. To persuade people to try improv.

New research has connected ultra-processed foods to poorer brain health. Ultra-processed foods, factory-made foods rich in sugar, salt and additives (添加剂), include things like soft drinks, potato chips, ready-made meals and dairy desserts — basically, anything that isn’t fresh, whole food.
Food scientist Barbara Cardoso from Monash University in Australia led the analysis of survey data from 2,192 participants, who completed a food questionnaire and four cognitive (认知的) function tests checking attention and memory. The participants also provided physical activity levels and other health details, which allowed the researchers to calculate their risk of dementia (痴呆).
For every 10 percent increase in ultra-processed foods in a person’s diet, there was a perceptible drop of about 0.05 points in their ability to focus. More ultra-processed foods were associated with higher dementia risk too, adding about 0.24 points to the score for each 10 percent increase. “To put our findings objectively, a 10 percent increase in ultra-processed foods is roughly equal to adding a standard packet of chips to your daily diet,” Cardoso says. “In medical terms, this resulted in consistently lower scores on standard cognitive tests measuring visual attention and processing speed.”
Following a healthy diet such as the Mediterranean diet, which previous studies have associated with better brain function, made little difference if ultra-processed foods were still eaten.
It’s a very broad category, which makes it difficult to explain clearly why the relationship between brain health and diet exists — but researchers have a few theories. “Ultra-processed foods often destroy the natural structure of foods and introduce possibly harmful substances such as artificial additives and processing chemicals,” Cardoso explains. “Studies of these additives suggest the link between diet and cognitive function extends beyond just missing out on foods known to be healthy, pointing to systems linked to the degree of food processing itself.”
Additives are one possible explanation, but there are many others. Further research will be needed to find out exactly what’s going on here.
28. How does Barbara Cardoso carry out his research?
A. By analyzing data. B. By giving a definition.
C. By listing examples. D. By making comparisons.
29. What does the underlined word “perceptible” probably mean in paragraph 3?
A. Inactive. B. Dramatic. C. Noticeable. D. Unimportant.
30. What can we know from Cardoso’s explanation?
A. Rejecting healthy food directly weakens cognitive abilities.
B. The food processing level greatly affects cognitive function.
C. Artificial additives should be strictly limited in food production.
D. Damaged food structure does more harm than processing chemicals.
31. What might the author continue talking about?
A. The research on the deep connection. B. The suggestions on choosing healthy foods.
C. The significance of the current research. D. The methods of removing artificial additives.
D
Americans seem to have given up on reading books. Surveys show that over the course of a year, almost 40 percent read no books at all and just 27 percent read between one and four books. Focused, sustained reading is concentrated in an increasingly small group of the population. Moreover, the commitment to reading is much greater among older people than among younger ones. The New York Times has reported a sharp drop in reading among high schoolers.
All of this causes a serious problem for higher education. In colleges across the country, Professor Rose Horowitch observes, “Students now seem puzzled by the thought of finishing multiple books a semester.” As reported, even at some top universities, many students struggle to focus the attention required to throw themselves into a long and complex text, thus failing to make a meaningful contribution. Most colleges and universities have not dealt with this problem properly, let alone figured out how to respond.
But ignoring it won’t make it go away. If they are to survive America’s post-literate (后文字时代的) era and serve society in the future, colleges need to invest in programs that answer the question, “Why read?” They must also design courses where the techniques of careful reading are taught.
So, what would the value of reading involve? One could start with the 19th-century American writer Ralph Waldo Emerson, for whom reading well was second-best to close observation of the world. He pointed out the “pleasure we gain from the best books” and noted the “great respect mixed with the joy” arising from reading. Great respect and joy. That is a good answer.
Reading demands that readers dig into the depths and find meaning across them rather than merely examine the surface. While AI can be a powerful tool, relying on it to summarize texts for us removes an essential intellectual act: reading carefully and finding out on our own what is meaningful and worth discussing. Reading raises our sympathy and develops the moral ability to understand the inner lives of others.
32. Which phenomenon does the author present in paragraph 1?
A. The poor performance of seniors. B. The collapse of teenagers’ confidence.
C. The importance of sustained reading. D. The decline of reading in young people.
33. What is the problem facing students at some top universities?
A. Lack of reading motivation. B. Difficulty in reading attentively.
C. Confusion about various books. D. Doubt about the value of reading.
34. What can we know about Emerson from paragraph 4?
A. He was proud of writing bestsellers. B. He took delight in reading quality books.
C. He regarded reading as the top priority. D. He spent little time on world exploration.
35. Which of the following may be the best title of the text?
A. How to read? B. What to read?
C. Why not read? D. Whether to read or not?

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
I have a number of colleagues who are expert at handicrafts, and we recently decided to get together once a month for hand-made activities. I plan to do some rock painting just for fun. 36 , said Daisy Fancourt, a professor who has spent 15 years studying the benefits of arts.
This idea of arts covers a wide range, even including cooking work like baking bread. Research suggests that enjoying creativity has clear effects on our physical and mental health. Doing so helps a slow brain function less and reduces the risk of heart disease. 37 . Dr. Fancourt strongly calls joining in the arts “the forgotten fifth pillar (支柱) of health”, alongside diet, sleep, exercise, and nature.
Most importantly, you do not have to be good at any of these things to achieve the health benefits. All you have to do is take part. 38 . You can see if nearby museums offer free hours, or support local artists by seeing plays put on by local high schools and community theaters.
39 . If you tend to meet friends for drinks or dinners, try changing that habit with art-related activities. Setting a creative challenge for yourself is another useful method. This could involve establishing a fun rule of the year, such as making your own greeting cards instead of buying them or reading a daily poem. If you take public transportation regularly, you could ask yourself to read a few pages of a novel before playing with the phone.
Finally, you can easily bring your art home to make the most of these health benefits without ever visiting a concert hall. You might watch live shows online, look through library art books, or try a new recipe in your kitchen. 40 .
A. It also increases our health as we age
B. Creative activities do not have to be expensive
C. Actually, arts can greatly help you live a quality life
D. In addition, you can add some arts into your daily life
E. However, such activities are also very good for our health
F. Thus, hand-made work filled my life with so much possibility
G. Remember, your creative activity doesn’t need to be perfect, just give it a go

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
For 45-year-old Chris, who lives alone in a quiet neighborhood in Queensland, Australia, that ordinary morning turned out to be a day that tested his fate and showed him the power of kindness and luck.
“If it hadn’t been for the sudden and life-threatening medical emergency, I really wouldn’t be here right now. My chance of survival was slim. It was really a miracle,” Chris said in a trembling voice during an interview, still feeling grateful for the second chance at life he had been given. He often looks at Sally, a gentle golden retriever (寻回犬), and wonders how his life would have ended if it hadn’t been for her urgent barking that day.
It was a warm Saturday morning, and the sun was shining softly through the window. His dog, Sally, had quietly slipped out of the open back door while Chris was busy cleaning the living room. Realizing Sally was gone, Chris quickly put on his shoes and stepped out to bring her back, never thinking that this simple act would put his life in great danger.
After taking just a few steps outside, Chris suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest, followed by a wave of dizziness. Before he could call for help, his legs gave way and he fell heavily onto the sidewalk. He had gone into cardiac arrest (心脏骤停), a sudden loss of heart function that can kill within minutes if not treated immediately. As his senses faded away, Chris could only hear a faint sound of barking in the distance.
Sally’s barking quickly turned out to be life-saving. Sensing that her owner was in trouble, she stood beside Chris, waving her tail anxiously and barking as loudly as she could. Her loud, urgent and constant bark cut through the quiet morning air, catching the attention of Brendan, who had taken the CPR courses and was expert at first aid. He happened to pass by while jogging.
