Learning English is so different now. There are so many new words to remember every day, and sometimes I even forget (忘记) the words I learned the day before. It makes me feel sad.

Do you have the same problem as Lisa? Don’t worry. These tips (建议) might help you. Just reading words and their Chinese meanings out over and over won’t help much. When you see a word, don’t look at the Chinese meaning—try to picture (想象) it yourself. For example, when you see “delicious”, you can connect (联系) the word with a tasty dish (菜肴). Then you can remember its meaning better.
Make English words part of your everyday life! Try writing words like “mirror” and “table” on sticky notes (便利贴) and putting them on the real things. This way you’ll see and practise them often. You can also practise by using these new words when talking with friends or writing in your diary. The more you use them, the better you’ll remember them!
Sometimes you forget the words you just learned. That’s okay. It happens to everyone! Our brain follows the forgetting curve (遗忘曲线). The key is to review regularly (定期复习), but not every day. Wait longer each time: start after one hour, then wait one day, three days, a week, and finally two weeks.

Many people think they need to walk 10,000 steps a day to stay healthy. We often see this number on smartwatches (智能手表) and health apps. But for some people, walking that much is too hard, and others are too busy.
A new study says it might not need that many steps. In fact, just about 7,000 steps a day could be enough. Scientists studied over 160,000 people worldwide. They found that people who walked 7,000 steps a day had better health than those who walked only 2,000 steps. So why do so many people try to walk 10,000 steps a day?
Well, this idea didn’t come from science! It began with a Japanese ad (广告) in the 1960s. A company was selling a step-counter (计步器) called “Manpo-kei” (meaning “10,000 steps metre”). But 7,000 steps may be easier for most people. The study even found that walking 4,000steps a day was good for health.

Learning English is so different now. There are so many new words to remember every day, and sometimes I even forget (忘记) the words I learned the day before. It makes me feel sad.

Do you have the same problem as Lisa? Don’t worry. These tips (建议) might help you. Just reading words and their Chinese meanings out over and over won’t help much. When you see a word, don’t look at the Chinese meaning—try to picture (想象) it yourself. For example, when you see “delicious”, you can connect (联系) the word with a tasty dish (菜肴). Then you can remember its meaning better.
Make English words part of your everyday life! Try writing words like “mirror” and “table” on sticky notes (便利贴) and putting them on the real things. This way you’ll see and practise them often. You can also practise by using these new words when talking with friends or writing in your diary. The more you use them, the better you’ll remember them!
Sometimes you forget the words you just learned. That’s okay. It happens to everyone! Our brain follows the forgetting curve (遗忘曲线). The key is to review regularly (定期复习), but not every day. Wait longer each time: start after one hour, then wait one day, three days, a week, and finally two weeks.

Many people think they need to walk 10,000 steps a day to stay healthy. We often see this number on smartwatches (智能手表) and health apps. But for some people, walking that much is too hard, and others are too busy.
A new study says it might not need that many steps. In fact, just about 7,000 steps a day could be enough. Scientists studied over 160,000 people worldwide. They found that people who walked 7,000 steps a day had better health than those who walked only 2,000 steps. So why do so many people try to walk 10,000 steps a day?
Well, this idea didn’t come from science! It began with a Japanese ad (广告) in the 1960s. A company was selling a step-counter (计步器) called “Manpo-kei” (meaning “10,000 steps metre”). The number sounded nice, so it quickly became popular. Today, many fitness devices (健身设备) still use it as a goal (目标).
But 7,000 steps may be easier for most people. The study even found that walking 4,000steps a day was good for health.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says children aged 5 to 17 should do at least (最少) 60 minutes of exercise each day. So maybe don’t worry too much about your number of steps—just try to move more when you can!
