D
Nature is very important to all living things. It gives us clean air to breathe, fresh water to drink and beautiful plants to enjoy. It is home to many animals, too. We can see birds flying in the sky, fish swimming in rivers and small animals running in forests.
However, nature is in danger now. People cut down forests to make space for farms and buildings. Many rivers are polluted because people throw rubbish into them. Air pollution makes the sky grey. As a result, many kinds of animals are becoming rare (稀少的). Their home is gone and they don’t have enough food to eat. Some even disappear.
It’s our duty to protect nature. We should plant more trees and stop cutting down too many forests. We must stop littering and keep water clean. We should also tell others to love animals and protect them. Everyone can do small things to help.
If we try our best, nature will become beautiful again. We will have a clean and safe world to live in. Let’s work together to protect nature and make it a better home for all.
36. What does nature give us?
A. Dirty air and a grey sky. B. Clean air, fresh water and plants.
C. Rubbish and pollution. D. Farms and buildings.
37. Why are some animals in danger?
A. Because people cut down forests and pollute rivers.
B. Because they don’t like living in nature.
C. Because there are too many animals.
D. Because they want to find new home.
38. What does the underlined word “disappear” probably mean?
A. Leave. B. Go. C. Stop. D. Die.
39. What can we do to protect nature according to Paragraph 3?
A. Cut down more forests. B. Throw rubbish into rivers.
C. Plant more trees. D. Make the sky grey.
40. What is the best title for the text?
A. Stop Cutting Down More Trees B. Let’s Protect Nature Together
C. Different Kinds of Animals in Nature D. How to Build Houses
B 37. A 38. D 39. C 40. B

第一段明确指出:“It gives us clean air to breathe, fresh water to drink and beautiful plants to enjoy.”,说明大自然为我们提供了清洁的空气、淡水和植物。
第二段提到:“People cut down forests... Many rivers are polluted... As a result, many kinds of animals are becoming rare.”,说明动物处于危险之中是因为人们砍伐森林和污染河流,破坏了它们的栖息地和食物来源。
第三段明确建议:“We should plant more trees and stop cutting down too many forests. We must stop littering...”,因此我们可以做的是种更多的树。A、B、D项均为破坏环境的行为。
【40题详解】
文章最后一段总结道:“Let’s work together to protect nature and make it a better home for all.”,且全文贯穿了保护自然的主题。
In Hubei Province, a new kind of hero is helping to protect nature. Last November, Jingshan City introduced its first remote-control forest firefighting robot. This high-tech machine is designed to go where it is too dangerous for humans. It looks like a small tank (坦克) with some strong tracks (履带), which allow it to climb very steep hills. A worker can stand 150 metres away — safely away from heat and smoke — and use a wireless (无线的) controller to tell the robot what to do.
The robot has a special cutting-tool that can cut down trees up to 20 centimetres thick. Its main job is to create the paths called “firebreaks” (防火带), which can stop a fire from spreading. Before the robot arrived, firefighters had to dig these paths by hand using traditional tools. This was slow and very risky. Now, one robot can do the same job faster and keep everyone safe from the flames.
But the robot isn’t just a firefighter. For the rest of the time without any dangerous situations, it plays a role in stopping tree thieves, or works on other forest jobs like clearing fallen leaves. Hubei is also using other smart tools, like 128 drones (无人机) that fly over the forest to look for smoke. They even use satellites and AI to watch the trees from space! These “smart guardians” will surely make China’s beautiful forests stay green and safe in the following years. The whole system costs a lot, but the government believes that it is not a waste of money compared with its influence.
Looking ahead, scientists and engineers are already working on the next generation of firefighting robots. They hope to make them even smaller, faster, and more intelligent. Some new models may be able to work together in teams and communicate with each other. If successful, these future robots could not only protect forests from the danger of fires, but also help the firefighters to guard cities.
41. Why can the robot climb steep hills?
____________________________________________________________________________________________
42. What’s the main job of the robot?
____________________________________________________________________________________________
43. What can the robot do when there are no dangerous situations?
____________________________________________________________________________________________
44. With these “smart guardians”, what will happen to China’s forests in the following years?
____________________________________________________________________________________________
45. How do you feel about the future of firefighting robots?
____________________________________________________________________________________________
41. Because it has strong tracks.
42. Its main job is to create the paths called “firebreaks”.
43. It plays a role in stopping tree thieves, or works on other forest jobs.
44. They will stay green and safe.
45. I feel hopeful about it. They will become smaller, faster and more intelligent, and work together to better protect forests and cities.

根据文章第2段“Its main job is to create the paths called ‘firebreaks’, which can stop a fire from spreading.”

Different students have different hobbies. Some even like making new things out of old ones. If you have one sock but not the other, what will you do? Have some fun and make a puppet! A puppet is a toy you put on your hand. Learn how to make one with a sock.
Things you need:
* One sock
* Glue
* A pair of scissors
* Two buttons (纽扣)
* Coloured paper
Guides:
1. Put your hand inside the sock. Practice opening and closing the sock with your hand so it looks like a mouth talking.
2. After you know where the puppet’s mouth is, you need to make the puppet’s eyes. Take your hand out of the puppet and glue the two buttons on the sock.
3. Cut the coloured paper into long pieces with scissors. This is the puppet’s hair.

C. Different Kinds of Animals in Nature D. How to Build Houses

42. What’s the main job of the robot?
