British English and American English are different in some ways.
First, the sound (发音) is different. Americans often say words together. For example, Americans may say “I dunno” for “I don’t know”. But British people often say words more slowly and clearly.
Second, some words are different. In Britain, people play “football”. In America, people play “soccer”, but it’s the same game.
Third, some sentences are different. In Britain, if you want to call your friends, you “ring them up”. In America, you “call” your friends.
They are also different in grammar (语法). For example, to ask if someone has something, Americans usually say “Do you have a pen?”. But British people often say “Have you got a pen?”.
Languages change (改变) over time. When people live in different places, their way of speaking changes in different ways. That’s why English has these interesting differences.
