It is ten years since Talk and Talk was established. ①This is an amazing program where you can share your ideas with students. Now, when having trouble in learning English well, plenty of students urge to know how to deal with it. As our distinguished foreign language teacher, your aid can help us a lot. ②If you are available on this Sunday, I together with the whole Talk and Talk staff am waiting for your coming. I'd appreciate it if you take my invitation into consideration. Yours, Li Hua 67. Seeing this, our neighbour was surprised and curious. He came up to my grandpa and asked with a touch of embarrassment, "How is this possible? I actually looked after my plants better." My grandpa had his signature smile on and replied, "What you did spared the plants the need to work themselves hard for anything. I gave them just certain water and let their roots do the rest to search for more. And their roots went deeper, which made their position stronger. That is why they survived." Grandpa's explanations not only convinced the neighbour, but made me realise something. My grandpa was strict with me on many occasions with his dos and don'ts, and that drove me to be independent and work hard for what I wanted, which, however, I'd rarely noticed. I became aware that anything easily got can go off much more easily. Still after a rainy night when the sun is clear and bright the next morning, it reminds me of my grandpa's words. The guidance has taken root in my mind and influences me all the way. 附听力原文: 1. 听力原文: W: What're you doing, Tim? M: Nothing. Just download some music. W: Maybe you can visit my WeChat Moments later. I uploaded some pictures just now. M: Really? I'll go to see them later. 2. 听力原文: W: A hotel wants to expand its business. So it is looking for workers. They need 300 new workers but over 4,000 people showed up. M: Yes, I saw the news on TV. I still have my job. Thank goodness. 3. 听力原文: M: Do you find your job hard in the learning centre for kids? I sometimes get annoyed with kids. They are troublesome. W: No, not at all. Working with kids is so much more fun than working with grown-ups. 4. W: Jeff is a perfect elementary school teacher. He has good skills of teaching and is very knowledgeable. What most important is, he seldom loses temper. M: I know what you mean. He never gets angry with those kids, even when they're not listening to him. That's why they like him so much. 5. 听力原文: M: Iˈd like to buy a computer whose price varies from $500 to $700. W: Well, we have a diverse range of computers. How about this one? Itˈs our best-selling computer. Itˈs only $550. M: OK, I will take it. 6~7.听力原文: W: Dad, I see the neighborhood group will start reprocessing some of the rubbish we usually throw away. M: I think everyone should know how to protect the environment. But we've met one problem. How do we separate all the different materials? Nobody has time to spend doing the job. W: We were talking about something like that in the school the other day. Let everybody help. ⑦Have separate containers clearly marked for each type of waste. M: ⑦Why didn't we think of that? Thanks a lot. 8~9. 听力原文: W: Who's your best friend, Tom? M: Well, I guess Harry is. I'll call Mr Brown to let him know that ⑩I'll print out a hard copy and mail it to his office right away. 13~16.  听力原文:     M: I'm a very hard-working person, partly because I believe that unless you work hard, you will never succeed in life. My sister is the same. As a result, I seldom relax during the week and neither does she.⑰I think we are like this because of our parents. who think we should study hard and aim for a great future. In my memory, we've never been asked to do any housework at home. They probably think this is the only way to raise children, but perhaps if they were not so hard on us, we would have more time to relax and take things slowly.     The situation is made more difficult by our teachers. In my view, they always give us so much homework that we are under too much pressure, and ⑱we just don't get enough free time to enjoy ourselves. As a result,⑲the weekends are the only time when we can do what we like. Then we can watch TV go swimming and meet our friends.     ⑳I decide that if I have children when I'm older, I will be a more relaxed parent. Because I think that children who are made to work too hard are often stressed and grow up to be very unhappy. 17~20. 听力原文: M: Welcome to the California Governor High School. B The needs of plus-size consumers had long been the elephant in the room of the fashion industry until body positivity and fat acceptance movements promoted the slogan that large-bodied people are not those who are left behind. This size-inclusive trend has become so popular that it is influencing mainstream culture. As a result, fashion brands have finally decided to extend their size ranges. In 2022, the plus-size market grew twice as fast as the standard size market in both North America and the UK. Yet, many consumers say fashion brands broadening their ranges are not truly inclusive. "Inclusive sizing means that all bodies are included in fashion, not just the ones who fit in standard sizes," says Marie Southard Ospina, a UK-based journalist who covers body-image issues. "However, what many designers do right now is pick a number that they think is big enough to include plus sizes and stop. This is even more disrespectful." Researchers also criticize that some brands are just taking advantage of the trend. "Brands that used to promote so-called perfect bodies in their advertisements are now trying to get in on the trend by adding a few sizes. It doesnˈt feel like they really care about plus-size people," says Tom Burgess, an analyst in the fashion industry. "If brands had cared about large-bodied consumers, then it wouldnˈt have taken until now to acknowledge that they exist," he says. "It gives the impression that companies are just trying to gain a share of the market without a real commitment to the community." The fashion industry must go beyond merely producing clothing in a particular range of sizes if it hopes to succeed in a body-diverse world. The whole industry has to connect on a personal level with consumers. That involves showing shoppers that they are seen, understood and important to brands. "Consumers care about values, and so they want to buy from brands that reflect the values they believe in. Everyone should enjoy the same range of fashion options," says Ludovica Cesareo, assistant professor of Marketing at Lehigh University College of Business in the US. 24.What does the underlined phrase "the elephant in the room" mean in the first paragraph? A. The hot issue that is valued. B. The obvious truth that is ignored. C. The important principle that is recognized. D. The common phenomenon that is criticized. 25.According to Marie, consumers say some fashion brands are not truly inclusive because ________. A. they pick sizes randomly B. they treat designers disrespectfully C. they offer limited plus sizes D. they havenˈt broadened standard sizes 26.For what do researchers mainly criticize some brands? A. Their designs. B. Their motivations. C. Their quality. D. Their advertisements. 27.What does the last paragraph imply? A. Buyers deserve fashion that respects their values. B. Consumers prefer brands with personalized styles. C. Brands should catch up with the size-inclusive trend. D. A good brand image is critical in the fashion industry. C A dog spent the last four years of his life waiting at a crossroad in the Thai city of Khon Kaen as if waiting for someone. People originally thought the dog had been abandoned, but then realised that he looked healthy, so people asked around about him. It turned out that the dog had indeed been spending most of his time around that crossroad, but a woman had been coming around regularly to bring him food and water. One day, while photographing the dog everyone called Leo, a reporter met the woman who had been taking care of him. She had come to drop off some food. After learning the story about the dog and the woman, the reporter decided to share the story on social media. The post soon went viral and the photos of Leo got shared hundreds of times. And the photos reached the eyes of Leoˈs former old owner. Nang Noi Sittisarn, a 64-year-old woman from Thailandˈs Roi Et Province, almost had a heart attack when her daughter showed her a photo of the beloved dog named BonBon she had lost during a car trip. When she learnt that he had been waiting for her in the same spot for the last four years, her heart melted. Nang Noi told her daughter to drive her to where the dog was waiting. When she got there and called his name, BonBon, the poor dog started wiggling(扭动) his tail and came to her, but when she tried to take him home with her, he was unwilling to follow. She didnˈt want to force the dog to come with her so she agreed to leave him with his new master. However, she and her daughter will come to visit him regularly. 28.Why did the dog look healthy after separation from his former owner? A. He walked around the crossroad constantly. B. A woman looked after him on a regular basis. 29.What does the underlined phrase “went viral” in Paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Changed surprisingly. B. Spread quickly. C. Appeared gradually. D. Fell directly. 30.How did Nang Noi Sittisarn feel about the dogˈs waiting for her? A. Shocked. B. Regretful. C. Touched. D. Proud. 31.What can we mainly learn from the story about the dog? A. Unbelievable success is worth waiting for. B. We should adjust ourselves to environments. C. We need to learn to be faithful and thankful. D. No one knows the result until the last minute. D In a busy community hall, a volunteer sits at a sewing machine, mending (修补) someoneˈs much-loved dress, while at another table, household tools are fixed. This is the Share and Repair Café, run by Transition Crich, a "share and repair" project, in the village of Crich. This project began five years ago, when the local magazine asked if anyone was interested in coming together as volunteers to make their village become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. "Weˈve grown from just mending items to having craft activities, a café area, and stands from local groups," says committee member Linda. Crucially, the group doesnˈt charge for its services. "You donˈt have to pay for your repairs. We just ask for donations to cover our costs," says Linda. Alan volunteers at the Share and Repair Café as part of the sharpening service, helping give new life to everything from kitchen knives to garden tools. "The community in Crich have been, and continue to be, an amazing support to my family, following my cancer diagnosis (诊断)," he says. "Getting involved has helped shape a positive mindset, and helped extend my time on the planet. Giving something back is the least I can do." This commitment to action is evident in other projects Transition Crich facilitates. A fashion show is coming up, too. People will write their creative ideas about sustainable clothing on pieces of fabric to call on individuals to fight against fast fashion. A photography competition encourages people to take photos while being cognizant of nature. The group also works with a junior school on environmental awareness projects, helping young students learn to mend their connections to the natural world. Whether a volunteer or event attendee, the community benefit greatly from being involved with Transition Crich. As we all know, loneliness isnˈt reserved for one particular group of society. What makes inclusion initiatives like Transition Crich truly wonderful is their ability to mend the gaps between generations, bringing together people of different ages in ways that might otherwise be hard to achieve. 32.What inspired the start of the "share and repair" project? A. A repaired item. B. A donation campaign. C. A volunteer appeal. D. A classic handcraft. 33.What does the sharpening service bring to Alan? A. An optimistic attitude to life. B. Better treatments of cancer. C. A steady economic support. D. Improved professional skills. 34.What does the underlined word "cognizant" in paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Analytical. B. Mindful. C. Curious. D. Independent. 35.What is the best title of the text? A. Friends Who Mend B. Donations That Count C. Sharing Coffee, Enjoying Lives D. Designing Projects, Meeting Locals 三、阅读七选五:本大题共5小题,共12.5分。 Food Technology is a vital subject but has fallen out of favour in recent years, overshadowed by "academic" subjects.      36      As a Food Technology teacher, I firmly believe that the time has come to reinvent it. Engaging students in Food Technology can help shape practical problem-solving skills, enabling them to make more informed choices about their diets. But Food Technology must evolve to meet the demands of the modern age.      37      Instead, a modern food tech program must be reflective of current culinary (烹饪的) innovations. We need curricula (课程) that emphasise fresh, seasonal ingredients, and international cuisines. In an era when students can show off their recipes via social media, we can also seize the opportunity to introduce technology into our food tech classes. Beyond being tools for accessing information, digital platforms have the potential to enhance our culinary instruction techniques. We can task students with developing their own meal-planning apps.      38     In my reimagined Food Technology classes, inclusivity would play a further crucial role. We now live in a multicultural society, where food practices vary widely. By celebrating diverse culinary traditions, we can teach students about nutrition from a range of cultural perspectives.      39      Itˈs important that students learn to respect and celebrate the differences that food represents. Such an approach would not only help to build their understanding and empathy, but also to enrich and expand their culinary horizons and fuel their interest in trying new foods.      40      Who knows — we might well end up with classrooms full of future chefs, health advocates and food scientists, all eager to come up with their own solutions to the worldˈs culinary challenges. A.Cooking can bridge differences. B.Each dish tells a unique cultural story. C.Or we can engage them in interactive cooking lessons. D.Gone, after all, are the days of simply boiling cabbage. E.Yet there is a growing awareness of diet-related health issues. F.To achieve that, however, weˈll need more passionate educators. G.Diverse local recipes are seldom mentioned in modern Food Technology. 四、完形填空:本大题共15小题,共15分。 "Fearful" is how Mike Byrnes remembers his first meeting with Roxie the rescue dog. Grandpa had fine qualities and was a real personality. He was strict with his family, me included, as well as himself. In our ancestral house there was a big pond as was common in bygone Bengali homes with lots of trees and bushes. Both my grandparents were fond of our so-called garden. One morning our new neighbour saw my grandpa planting two trees on both sides of our main gate, which still stand tall today. Across the street our new neighbour also got the same kind of tree and planted the trees exactly on both sides of his gate too. My grandpa didn't often give enough amount of water to his plants and didn't always give his full attention to them, while our neighbour gave a lot of water to his plants and looked after them too well. My grandpa's plants were simple but looked good. But our neighbour's plants were much fuller and greener. Normally, during April and May, we have short but violent thunderstorms called "Kalboishakhi". One late evening during a Kalboishakhi we had showers with strong winds, which continued right throughout that night. The next morning along with my grandparents I came out to inspect the damage to our garden. I saw our neighbour was there in his garden too, but looked upset as his plants were uprooted. But, our plants were not damaged and were standing firm on the ground. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150左右; (2)请按如下格式作答。 Seeing this, our neighbour was surprised and curious. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ Grandpa's explanations not only convinced the neighbour, but made me realise something. _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________ 第1页,共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
