Many people have heard a strange saying that people will become smarter after getting hit by lightning. In fact, this idea has no real truth at all.
Lightning has great power and it is very dangerous to people. If someone gets hit by lightning, he may get serious burns, have heart trouble or hurt his brain badly. Most people may even lose their lives in such bad accidents.
Only very few people can stay alive after getting hit by lightning. Some of them may suddenly get special skills, such as better memory or new talents. This does not mean they turn cleverer. It just shows their brain has some unusual changes. They will also feel bad for quite a long time, such as having headaches and forgetting things easily.
We all know lightning can never help people become bright. True wisdom (智慧) and rich knowledge come from everyday study and careful thinking. We must keep away from unsafe places on rainy and stormy days to protect ourselves. We should never believe such wrong ideas. Only by making great efforts every day can we become better and learn more useful things.
49. What does lightning most probably cause?
A. Body harm. B. Good memory. C. New talents. D. Quick thinking.

根据第二段内容“Lightning has great power and it is very dangerous to people…Most people may even lose their lives”可知,闪电最可能造成的后果是身体伤害甚至死亡。

I am Jean. I have a best friend. He is smart and friendly and we get along well almost all the time. But there is one way he acts that I really cannot accept, and I have no idea how to fix it.
He always likes to make all plans for me without asking for my ideas. Whenever we want to go out or do something together, he will decide everything on his own. He believes all his choices are good for me, so he never listens to what I think.
I hope to make choices by myself and do things I really enjoy. But every time I try to talk with him, he just thinks I am too sensitive (敏感的). I know he means no harm and only hopes we can have a great time. I do not want to make him sad or hurt our friendship. So I mostly choose to go along with his plans. I feel uncomfortable yet I do not know what I can do.
53. What is Jean’s best friend like?
________________________________________
54. What does Jean hope to do?

53. He is smart and friendly.

根据第一段“He is smart and friendly and we get along well almost all the time.”
根据第三段“I hope to make choices by myself and do things I really enjoy.”
