Many theaters, parks and museums have gotten creative, offering in-home entertainment in the form of free virtual tours. With these digital experiences, you can discover new sights and sounds while at home. Here are some virtual tours to keep you learning, exploring and curious!
Monterey Bay Aquarium
Dive into the sea with Monterey Bay Aquarium’s live webcams. You’ll glimpse all kinds of marine life — from jellyfish and sharks to coral reefs and kelp forests — in real time. Cameras are also trained on sea otter (水獭) pups, which are usually kept hidden from the aquarium’s visitors. And they let viewers keep an eye on Tule and Piper, two African penguins born at the aquarium.
Access Mars
Virtual tours aren’t limited to Planet Earth. Access Mars, a collaboration between the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Google, invites earthlings to examine the Red Planet from afar. This immersive 3D tour uses data and images captured by NASA’s Curiosity rover to guide visitors across the planet’s rocky surface. Click the Martian terrain to move the digital from place to place and learn more about Curiosity’s mission. Katie Stack Morgan, a research scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, joins the tour to explain Curiosity’s findings.
The British Museum
The British Museum, in London, England, is the world’s oldest national public museum. It houses 2 million years’ worth of history, culture and art. Several years ago, Dawn Larkin-Wallace, a mom of three, started running to lose 10 pounds to 20 pounds of baby weight that just wouldn’t go away. She thought once she dropped the weight, she’d be off the treadmill (跑步机). What she could have never imagined is that she’d become a marathon runner who inspired her three children to start running, too.
“We’re just a running family,” said Larkin-Wallace of Baldwin, New York, who is part of a running club. First, Larkin-Wallace signed up her 15-year-old daughter Kayla, a high school student, for a race after realizing that the amount of running she did during her soccer games was the equivalent (等量) of five kilometers.
With the positive pressure and the competitive spirit that exists in the household, Larkin-Wallace said with a laugh, “Of course, her brother and sister decided that that’s something they wanted to do, too.” Kimberly, 11, and Kevin Jr., 9, ran their first 5K’s this year.
Larkin-Wallace said her goal is for healthy living to become a lifestyle among her kids, who also play a range of sports from basketball to soccer. What she’s also very mindful of is encouraging her children, especially her girls, to feel good about their bodies. A recent study found that two in three 13-year-olds worry about gaining weight.
“It’s always on my mind, and I have to help my daughters understand that their body type is disparate from others and that the difference doesn’t make one better or more right than the other,” she said during a conversation with her family in their home. “As long as we’re healthy and taking care of ourselves, we should accept ourselves.”
The best advice for teenagers, Larkin-Wallace said, is to focus less on appearance and more on health, internal (内在的) qualities and things that your body can do, rather than how your body appears.
24.Why did Larkin-Wallace start running several years ago?
A.To lose weight after having babies. B.To prepare for a marathon race.
C.To set an example to her friends. D.To join a national running club.
25.What is the underline word “disparate” in paragraph 5 mean?
A.humble B.different C.separated D.dynamic
26.What did Larkin-Wallace encourage her kids to do?
A.Break their bad habits at home. B.Win honors as much as possible.
C.Accept their bodies as they are. D.Compare their bodies with others.
27.What is Larkin-Wallace’s suggestion for teenagers?
A.Put health above looks. B.Keep a balanced lifestyle.
C.Focus on their appearance. D.Create a caring environment.

Cultural heritage is an important part of a country’s history and identity. It includes tangible cultural heritage such as ancient buildings, cultural relics, and artworks, as well as intangible cultural heritage like traditional music, dance, and crafts. Protecting cultural heritage is of great significance for all of us.
First, cultural heritage is a treasure of human civilization. It records the development of human society and the wisdom of our ancestors. Ancient buildings like the Great Wall in China and the Pyramids in Egypt are not only amazing architectural works but also symbols of the history and culture of their countries. Cultural relics and artworks reflect the life, beliefs, and artistic level of ancient people, allowing us to learn about the past and understand our roots.
Second, protecting cultural heritage can promote cultural exchange and communication between different countries and nations. Each country has its own unique cultural heritage, which is a part of world culture. By protecting and showing our cultural heritage, we can let people from other countries know more about our culture, and at the same time, we can also learn about other cultures. This helps to build mutual understanding and friendship between different nations.
Third, cultural heritage can also bring economic benefits to a country. Many cultural heritage sites have become popular tourist attractions, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world every year. This not only promotes the development of the tourism industry but also creates more job opportunities and boosts the local economy. In addition, traditional crafts and artworks can be developed into cultural products, which can also bring economic income.
However, cultural heritage is facing many threats today, such as natural disasters, human activities, and urban development. Some ancient buildings are damaged by earthquakes and floods, and some cultural relics are stolen or destroyed by people. Urban construction also often leads to the destruction of historical sites.
It is everyone’s responsibility to protect cultural heritage. The government should make laws and policies to protect cultural heritage, and we as individuals should also raise our awareness of protecting cultural heritage and take action to protect it. Only by working together can we preserve this precious treasure for future generations.

30.How can cultural heritage bring economic benefits?
A.By becoming tourist attractions and cultural products.
B.By making laws and policies to protect it.
C.By building more historical sites.

When you accomplish something amazing — like earning a promotion, finishing a yearlong project or finally paying off your credit card debts — you’d think a burst of happiness would be followed by relief. You can even relax a little. Right? Not for everyone. It’s actually not unusual to feel more anxious following good news or hard-earned success than you do when you’re putting out fires or working hard.
“Anxiety can be a bit tricky, as it’s a response that’s hard-wired into the brain,” said Carla Marie Manly, a California-based clinical psychologist and author of Joy from Fear. “The brain’s fear circuit (回路) works very quickly, and it doesn’t always stop to tell the difference between good anxiety and bad. So, when something good happens, the physical symptoms you feel are similar to those that you associate with panic or fear.”
There are some things you can do when accomplishing something positive triggers (触发) more anxiety. But even when you are able to distinguish between feelings of excitement (good stress) and panic (bad stress) after success, the climb down from Mount Euphoria can be an anxiety trigger in itself. When your body becomes accustomed to a long-time state of anxiety, the positive physiological changes that happen after good news can trigger the sense that something isn’t right — simply because you’ re not used to feeling good.
This reaction may also be worse because of a potential belief that the good event will probably be followed by something bad — perhaps because, in the past, bad things that have happened to you often occurred when you were doing well or things were relatively calm, said Jo Eckler, a Texas-based clinical psychologist and author of I Can’t Fix You — Because You’re Not Broken. Instead of enjoying the moment, you spend that time waiting for the other shoe to drop.
32.What can we learn from the first paragraph?
A.Bad news usually results in anxiety. B.Sometimes, success may contribute to more anxiety.
C.Feelings have nothing to do with success. D.A promotion is sure to make people excited.
33.What leads people to be anxious when something good happens according to Manly?
A.The rate of people’s brain reaction. B.The ability to distinguish feelings.
C.The working speed of the brain’s fear circuit. D.The number of good things that happen.
34.Which of the following is stated by Jo Eckler?
A.Nothing can prevent people’s anxiety after happiness.
B.It’s time for people to forget bad things that happened in the past.
C.Anxiety happens after success for people accustomed to feeling bad.
D.The worry about bad future events can make people feel more anxious.
35.What is the best title for the text?
A.How to Deal with Anxiety in Life.
B.How to Feel Much Happier After Anxiety.
C.Why You Get More Anxious After Good News Happens.
D.The Reasons for Being Afraid Something Good Will Happen.
第二节七选五(每小题2.5分,共12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两 项为多余选项
What do the world’s most successful people all have in common?
By examining the work habits of over 150 greatest writers and artists and scientists, the researchers including Stanford professor Jeffrey Pfeiffer found that high achievers like Robert Moses turned out to be all alike:
Busy! Busy!
36 In a study of general managers in industry, John Kotter reports that many of them work 60 to 65 hours per week—which translates into at least six 10-hour days. The ability and willingness to work difficult and tiring hours has characterized many powerful figures. Energy and strength provide many advantages to those seeking to build power.
Just Say No!
The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say “no” to almost everything. And that’s what gives them the time to accomplish so much. 37 And focus means saying “no” to a lot of distractions (分神).
38
Ignore your weaknesses and keep improving your strengths. Don’t waste time exploring skill areas where you have little competence. Instead, focus on — and build on — your strengths. This means knowing who you are, what you are and what you are good at.
Create Good Luck!
39 There’s a science to it. Richard Wiseman studies lucky people for his book Luck Factor, and breaks down what they do right. Certain personality types are luckier because they behave in a way that offers the chance for good opportunities. By being more outgoing, open to new ideas, following the feeling that something is true, and being optimistic, lucky people create possibilities.
Does applying these principles to your life actually work? Wiseman created a “luck school” to test the ideas — and it was a success. In total, 80 percent of the people who attended Luck School said that their luck had increased. 40
A.Achievement requires focus.
B.Spend enough time to improve your weakness.
C.On average, these people reported that their luck had increased by more than 40 percent.
D.Some people never stop working and they never lose a minute.
E.Busy people are more likely to be lucky.
F.Know What You Are!
G.Luck isn’t magical.

W: I know, but we’ve been here a week now. Anyway, I’ve been careful in the sun.
M: And I’ve been drinking bottles of water.
W: Then we’d better stay in the hotel today.

W: My hat and my dress are. My coat is new and I borrowed this scarf from my friend.

W: Undoubtedly, but your father and I are proud of your effort, not just your scores.
M: Thanks, Mom. Has Dad returned from his office yet?
W: He just got home half an hour ago. But he’s still busy with a report from work.

W: Oh yes, I already finished it 10 minutes ago.
M: Okay, so I’ve seen the teaching plan you made and it’s very detailed, but I’ve noticed that there aren’t scheduled cultural activities for the next month.
W: Actually, I have made two plans, a three-hour tour around the boat museum or a two-hour trip to the local theatre. Our students’ parents have yet to determine which one to choose. I’m going to meet them after my math class this afternoon.
M: But the parents won’t go with the children, right?
W: Of course not. They just want to take part in the discussion.

33.细节理解题。根据文章第二段“The brain’s fear circuit (回路) works very quickly, and it doesn’t always stop to tell the difference between good anxiety and bad. This means knowing who you are, what you are and what you are good at.(忽视你的弱点,不断提升你的优势。不要浪费时间探索你能力薄弱的技能领域。相反,要专注于并建立你的优势。这意味着知道你是谁,你是什么样的人,你擅长什么)”可知,本段重点强调要明确自身优势、了解自我。F选项“Know What You Are!(明确自我定位)”能够概括本段“了解自身特质与优势”的核心内容,适合作小标题。故选F项。
