Jobs of the Future: What Will Change?
The world of work is changing very fast. In the past, many people worked for the same company in their whole lives. They usually worked in offices and did not change jobs often. Today, things are very different. Many people now work for different companies or as freelancers. This means they can choose when and where they work. For example, they sometimes work from home using computers and the internet.
In the future, jobs will change even more. Experts say that by 2050, over 40% of people might work from home. New jobs will appear, such as AI trainers and virtual reality designers. These jobs will be interesting and require skills like creativity and tech knowledge. At the same time, some traditional jobs may disappear because robots can do them faster and more cheaply.
However, one thing will stay very important: learning. Since technology keeps developing, people must keep learning new skills all their lives. Schools will teach students how to solve problems and work in teams-skills that robots cannot replace. The future might sound uncertain, but it also brings exciting chances for those who prepare well and are ready to learn.

Unit3 What makes a great team?
Teamwork is an important part of school life, but it often brings challenges that students need to overcome. Many students experience difficulties when working in groups, which can affect their projects and learning experience. Understanding these problems and knowing how to solve them can make teamwork more effective and enjoyable for everyone in the group.
One common problem in teamwork is unfair share of work. Some students end up doing most of the work while others do very little. This will create extra pressure for those working harder. Another obvious problem is poor communication. When team members don't share ideas clearly or don't listen to each other, misunderstandings appear, and their work may be put off. In addition, conflicts(矛盾) often happen when students have different opinions about how to complete tasks, which can stop the group from making progress.
Luckily, there are useful solutions to these problems. First, giving out clear roles to each team member helps guarantee that everyone shares the work fairly(公平地). Second, holding regular meetings allows the group to discuss progress and solve problems together. Most importantly, when disagreements happen, team members should listen to each other respectfully and try to find solutions that satisfy everyone.
Good teamwork requires effort from all the members. When students work together effectively, they not only complete projects successfully but also develop important life skills like communication, problem-solving, and cooperation. By finding common teamwork problems and using these ways to solve them, students can turn group work into a positive and productive experience.
11.What happens when some team members don't do their fair share of work?
A. The project gets finished faster.
B. Other members have to work harder.
C. The leader changes the roles of the members.
D. Everyone makes teamwork more effective and enjoyable.
12.How can regular meetings help a team?
A. They allow team members to avoid working.
B. They help ensure everyone share the work fairly.
C. They make the project take more time.
D. They let team members talk about progress and solve problems.
13.What does the underlined word “guarantee” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Make progress. B. Make use of.
C. Make sure. D. Make preparation for.
14.What should team members do when they disagree with each other?
A. Stop working on the project.
B. Listen to each other and find solutions.
C. Ask the leader to make decisions.
D. Let all the team members vote for the best solution.
15.What is the passage mainly about?
A. Why students should always work alone.
B. What team members think about group work.
C. How to be a leader on group projects.
D. Common teamwork problems and how to solve them.
Unit4 Helping out
Alice Lewis is from America. She is a creative girl. She likes inventing things—thinking of new ideas for things that no one has made before, and then making them.
One day, Alice's mother showed her an article which explained how difficult it was to get sick people from the countryside to the hospital in Africa. Alice felt sorry for them and wanted to help.
Alice knew that in North America, before there were cars, horses pulled heavy things on a travois (马拉双杆雪橇) which was made of wood. Alice thought people in Africa could do the same thing. However, it was not easy and too heavy to pull the travois made of wood. She tried to improve by adding wheels to the travois for the African people. To make her travois cushy to pull, she used bamboo, a plant that grows in Africa, instead of wood.
You need to wear a belt(腰带) to pull Alice's travois. That means you can free your hands to carry or hold other things. Alice thought her travois was perfect for carrying food home from the market, as well as taking people to the hospital. After it was finished, she wrote instructions for building one so that people in Africa could make it by themselves. Alice really hoped the travois could help people in need in Africa.
Alice doesn't know if she wants to be an inventor when she grows up, because she also has many other hobbies, such as music and writing. But she thinks it's important for children to learn about inventing things at school to offer help when necessary.
16.Why did Alice decide to invent a travois?
A. To make money. B. To carry heavy things.
C. To help people in need. D. To show she is creative.
17.What does the underlined word“cushy” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Safe. B. Free. C. Easy. D. Comfortable.
18.What can we learn from the passage?
A. Alice often helps others make things.
B. Alice likes singing and dancing very much.
C. Alice thinks children should learn to invent things.
D. Alice wants to be an inventor when she grows up.
19.What's the best title for the passage?
A. Helping Others B. A Creative Girl
C. A New Invention D. Making a Travois
Unit5 Looking into nature
Rainforests are amazing places with many different kinds of plants and animals. Can you believe that a single forest in the Amazon may have more kinds of ants than there are in the whole of Britain? And in just one small part of the rainforest, there can be about 480 different kinds of trees.
Rainforests have a smart way of staying healthy. The tall trees make a canopy(树冠层)of branches(树枝)and leaves which protects the trees, other plants, and animals from heavy rain, great dry heat from the sun and strong winds. They really play an important role in the health of the rainforests.
The trees in the rainforests grow in an interesting way. Even though they are close to each other, their branches and leaves never touch those of another tree. This is the trees' way to protect themselves so that they won't get diseases from other trees.
Rainforests get their name for a reason-they get a lot of rain! They can make 75% of their own(自己的)rain. At least 80 inches(英寸) of rain a year is normal, and in some areas, there may be as much as 430 inches of rain every year. The humidity(湿气)of large rainforests helps to form rain clouds that may travel to other countries which are in need of rain. Rainforests are an important part of nature, helping support the environment and keep our planet healthy.
20.What can we learn about rainforests from the first paragraph?
A. They cover a large area. B. They have a lot of wildlife.
C. They are managed by humans. D. They provide food for people.
21.What does the underlined word“They” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. Tall trees. B. Smaller plants. C. Forest animals. D. Strong winds.
22.Why do the trees' branches and leaves never touch those of another tree?
A. To get more sunlight. B. To protect themselves.
C. To have more growing space. D. To make insects move easily.
23.Which of the following best describes rainforests according to the last paragraph?
A. Famous. B. Dangerous. C. Dirty. D. Important.
24.What is the purpose of the passage?
A. To tell the weather in rainforests.
B. To warn of the danger in rainforests.
C. To give an introduction to rainforests.
D. To encourage the protection of rainforests.
Unit6 Living with nature
The natural world is colourful with humans, plants and animals showing different colours.
Human skin can be many different colours and it changes with the sun, our feelings or our health. This is because of pigments(色素), which reflect light and make what the eye sees as colours. So, when we feel excited or angry, our heart can send more blood to the face and the pigments in the skin become red. This is why we have the expression that someone “sees red” when they are angry.
Plants also have pigments. Colour is important for them to live on. The bright colours of flowers catch the attention of insects, which then carry their pollen(花粉) from one flower to another. Bees can see colours we cannot, and they follow these to the inside of the flower. Without bees visiting flowers in this way, many plants would die out.
Animals also use colours for their own need. They protect themselves with different colours so as not to be seen by predators. The snowshoe hare, for example, a type of wild rabbit, changes colour with seasons for this reason. During summer it is a brown colour, and in winter it is white so that it can hide in the snow. However, some animals use colour as a warning to make predators stay away. Bright colours such as yellow and red are often used in this way. Nature, however, is very clever, and predators also use colours to attract(吸引) the animals they feed on.
So, we can see that there may be many different reasons and uses for colours in the natural world. Some uses of colours in nature remain unknown; but one thing is for sure: Not only does colour make our planet beautiful, but it is also necessary for our planet to live on.
25.According to Paragraph 2, what is the cause that makes human skin change colour?
A. Blood. B. Feelings. C. Pigments. D. Sunshine.
26.According to Paragraph 3, what can plants use to attract insects?
A. Colour. B. Leaves. C. Fruits. D. Pollen.
27.What kind of animal does the underlined word “predators” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. The animals which hide in secret places.
B. The animals which change colour with the sun.
C. The animals which kill other animals for food.
D. The animals which protect themselves from danger.
28.What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To describe animals' ways of life.
B. To encourage us to study colour in nature.
C. To introduce the uses of colours for life on earth.
D. To explain the importance of protecting our planet.
