Like people everywhere, they created inventions to make their lives easier. Inuit Kayak Inuit people needed a way to travel through the cold seas that surrounded them, so about 4,000 years ago they invented kayaks. The narrow boat is pointed at both ends and the paddle (桨) that pushes it through the water has a sharp edge on each end. Inventors have to use the materials that are available to them, so Inuit builders stretched seal skins over wooden or whalebone frames. Maple Syrup Hundreds of years ago, First Nations people learned how to boil sap (汁液) from sugar maple trees to make sweet syrup. People there also made syrup from birch tree sap collected in the wild. Native people showed European settlers how to boil the syrup and pour it on snow to make maple syrup candy. Natural Pesticides North America’s forests are full of biting insects in the spring and summer, so it is no wonder that First Nations people invented ways to deal with them. They invented pesticides using herbs, oils from cedar trees, a material made from birch bark, and more. Using roots, leaves, and bark, they also created liquids and pastes to put on skin to take away the discomfort after the bite. Sunglasses You may think of sunglasses as being especially useful in the summer, but Inuit people originally invented them to prevent snow blindness in winter. The goggles (护目镜) they created were made from bone with a narrow slit cut in it to see through. These goggles reduced the amount of light that could enter the wearer’s eyes. 21. Why did Inuit people invent the kayak? A. To collect useful birch bark nearby. B. To carry heavy logs on wide waters. C. To travel across cold surrounding seas. D. To hunt different kinds of sea creatures. 22. What did Maple Syrup and Natural Pesticides have in common? A. They used plants as raw materials. B. They served as a beneficial medicine. C. They came from foreign people’s ideas. D. They relied on similar creation methods. 23. Where is the passage most probably taken from? A. A history textbook. B. A travel guidebook. C. A culture magazine. D. A sports newspaper. B A heartwarming cross-border reunion has drawn wide public attention. In 1999, Ronald Sakolsky, an American teacher at Luoyang Foreign Language School, learned about Yin Yuzhen’s continuous efforts to fight against desertification (沙漠化) in the Mu Us Sandy Land across Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Shaanxi Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Deeply moved by her devotion to restoring barren land (荒地), he raised $5,000 and donated the sum through a public foundation to support local tree-planting projects. He visited the sandy land in 1999 and developed a sincere friendship with Yin. However, the two lost contact and remained separated for 27 years. Though out of touch, Yin never gave up her ecological mission. For nearly 40 years, she has insisted on afforestation (植树造林) and taken good care of every tree planted with the donation. Her long-lasting efforts have helped young trees grow into a forest of more than 50,000 plants, greatly restoring the local ecosystem. With heartfelt thanks, Yin posted an online video on May 16, 2026, hoping to get in touch with her old friend and show him the great environmental change. With widespread public support, the pair re-established phone contact on May 17, 2026. During their conversation, the retired teacher valued this long-awaited reunion and expressed his sincere wish to revisit China and plant trees together with Yin. Kindness knows no borders, and persistence stands the test of time. This touching story fully shows the spirit of China’s environmental protection and records a sincere friendship between ordinary people of different countries. It also expresses the profound message that joint global efforts can protect our shared planet and bring hope to humankind. 24. What did Ronald do to help Yin in 1999? A. He devoted his time to planting. B. He raised money for tree planting. C. He taught her English at a local school. D. He launched a public foundation project. 25. What can we learn about Yin during the 27-year separation? A. She kept on doing the ecological work. B. She traveled abroad to look for Ronald. C. She used up all the donated money soon. D. She stopped planting trees due to loneliness. 26. What was Ronald’s wish after getting in touch with Yin again? A. To work as a teacher in Luoyang again. B. To donate more money to local projects. C. To introduce Chinese plants to Americans. D. To return to China and plant trees with Yin. 27. Which of the following words can best describe Yin Yin according to the passage? A. Kind and brave. B. Intelligent and modest. C. Polite and honest. D. Persistent and grateful. C Praveen Gowtham, a 43-year-old scientist, had his right arm removed when he was just eight days old after developing a problem that affected the blood supply in his arm. After spending nearly all his life with one arm, Gowtham started looking for tools that could make his daily life easier. When he contacted Open Bionics, they were still working on the technology and he had to wait a year before his new bionic arm (仿生假臂) could finally be fitted. Within an hour of the new arm being attached, Gowtham was trying out tasks he had never been able to manage. He was able to walk his dog while holding a takeaway coffee at the same time. He could also hold tools and thin wires at his work table and open a soft drink. The lightweight bionic limb, called the Hero FLEX, was designed for the amputees. The 3D-printing technology means it can be designed to fit the user’s body. The arm gets connected to the muscles in the user’s shoulder so it can respond to their movements. What’s more, the bionic arm has different replaceable parts, depending on what you want to do. Users can fit special tools for hobbies or chores such as gardening, and after that switch back to a bionic hand for other activities. Gowtham said one of the most impressive things about the arm was how quickly it responded whenever he wanted to move it. Samantha Payne, one of the company’s founders, says they are excited about making the new technology available to more people. “We’re thrilled Praveen is the first person to take one home,” she said. Experts hope that advances such as 3D printing can help make bionic limbs more affordable and available to the people who have had their whole arm removed around the world. 28. Why did Gowtham look for a bionic arm? A. To improve blood flow. B. To make his life easier. C. To relieve his arm’s pain. D. To help him work better. 29. What does the underlined word “amputees” in paragraph 3 mean? A. People who have lost part of their bodies. B. People who invent new high-tech products. C. People who do research on human muscles. D. People who work for the bionic arm company. 30. What can we infer from the last paragraph? A. 3D printing will be used in every field soon. B. More people will benefit from new bionic limbs. C. Bionic limbs are cheap enough for everyone now. D. Praveen will help the company improve the bionic arm. 31. What is the best title for the passage? A. A Great Scientist with One Arm. B. Different Kinds of Artificial Limbs. C. The History of 3D-printing Technology. D. New Bionic Arm Changing a Man’s Life. D Head and neck cancer is the world’s sixth most common form of the disease. If it spreads or comes back after standard treatment, patients may be offered two final treatments: immunotherapy and platinum chemotherapy (免疫治疗与铂类化疗). But if both fail, there is often little else doctors can do. However, a recent research showed a drug called amivantamab, given as an injection (注射剂), can reduce tumours (肿瘤) in patients who had tried immunotherapy and platinum chemotherapy. Unlike many cancer treatments that require hours in a hospital chair, amivantamab is given as a simple injection under the skin. This makes it faster, more convenient, and possibly easier to deliver in outpatient clinics — or even at home in the future. The experiment, funded by the company Janssen, included patients from 11 countries. One group of 86 patients in the study were given amivantamab. Early results show 76% of this group saw their tumours reduce or stop growing, responses were seen within six weeks on average and treatment was generally well tolerated. Carl Walsh has tongue cancer and joined the trial in July after immunotherapy and platinum chemotherapy failed. “I’m now on my seventh cycle of treatment. It’s working well and I’m very happy with the progress,” the 59-year-old from Birmingham said. “Before starting the trial, I couldn’t talk properly and eating was difficult but now I’m not in the same amount of pain I used to be in. Sometimes I even forget that I have cancer.” This is the first time this kind of treatment has been tested. “To see this level of benefit for patients who have suffered a lot of treatments is incredibly encouraging,” Prof Kevin Harrington said. “This could represent a real shift in how we treat head and neck cancer — not just in terms of effectiveness, but also in how we deliver care.” 32. What is a feature of amivantamab? A. It is a new treatment tested many times. B. It is a simple injection with good results. C. It requires long hours of hospital treatment. D. It produces no side-effects in cancer patients. 33. What is the result of the experiment? A. All patients saw their tumours reduce. B. The drug showed effects after six months. C. Most patients benefited from amivantamab. D. The treatment procedure was hard to tolerate. 34. What is Carl Walsh’s attitude towards the treatment? A. Curious. B. Doubtful. C. Positive. D. Negative. 35. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? A. To stress the significance of early cancer detection. B. To explain the main causes of head and neck cancer. C. To compare different approaches in cancer treatments. D. To introduce a new treatment for head and neck cancer. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to Be a Good Babysitter Have you ever babysat for a younger brother or sister? One name in the center of the board got my attention. “Who’s that person?” I wondered. I didn’t know, but that was going to be my choice. Seated in the middle of the classroom, I was attracted by that name. As Mrs. Rhodes called on students to announce their choices, the only thought I had was “Please don’t pick that one. Please don’t take mine.” Finally, it was my turn. I breathed a sigh of relief. “Johannes Brahms,” I said as I tried to act uninterested. Once I spoke his name, panic washed over me. “How am I going to do this? I have to get up in front of these people and say something about some person I know nothing about.” I murmured. Later in the day, I sat in my living room and looked through my parents’ CD collection. “Oh, thank goodness!” I shouted as I found an album that included one of Johannes Brahms’s pieces. I pulled out the dusty CD, placed it on the record player, and turned up the volume. Classical music flowed throughout the house. “This is perfect,” I said as I headed to my bedroom to grab my tape player and found a blank CD. Collecting those items, I headed back to the living room to set up my temporary recording studio. After a few playbacks, I had the music transferred from record to tape. With that task finished, I set out in search of the other items I needed for my report — a set of CDs, and a music stand (乐谱架). With the reports due (截止) the following week, I used every spare second to prepare. When the big day came, my nerves were nervous as I slipped into my seat and waited for my turn to present. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Eventually, Mrs. Rhodes called my name. I also shared this project with students during my classes. That is why many children make more sign boards and put them near schools and roads. This project works very well. Local families even set up a group to solve climate problems. Together, we hold monthly meetings to discuss useful environmental actions. This tells us a simple truth, art is not just for fun. IT can also help to make a difference to our community and even change our world. 第二节到此结束,现在你有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。听力部分到此结束。 红河州2028届高一下学期期末学业水平质量监测 英语学科参考答案及评分标准 第一部分 听力 第一节(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分) 1—5 ABACB 6—10 CCCAA 11—15 BBCBB 16—20 ACCAB 第二部分 阅读 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 21-25 CACBA 26-30 DDBAB 31-35 DBCCD 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 36-40 FECAG 第三部分 语言运用 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 41-45 BABCD 46-50 BCDCA 51-55 DACDB 第二节 (共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分) 56. are seen 57. to 58. contribution/contributions 59. became 60. highly 61. creative 62. an 63. which 64. activities 65. to learn 第四部分 写作 第一节(满分15分) Dear Chris, How is it going? I’m writing to tell you about a reading sharing activity held in our school last week, whose theme was “Reading Makes Us Grow”. It was various impressive sharing sessions that made this activity absolutely unforgettable. Standing on the stage one by one, some students presented books covering classic literature, popular science and inspirational essays, which touched every audience. Besides, the others putting on mini plays adapted from literary novels won warm applause. At last, our English teacher offered some practical reading tips, bringing us enormous benefits. Greatly inspired by this meaningful activity, I’ve fully realized reading shapes our minds. I decide to set aside time each day to explore different types of books. Hope you can experience this activity in person. Yours, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) Eventually, Mrs. Rhodes called my name. My palms grew sweaty and my legs felt a little weak as I walked up to the front of the classroom. I put on the suit jacket, set up the music stand and started my report with a trembling voice. First, I briefly introduced the life and achievements of Johannes Brahms. Then I played the recorded classical music for my classmates. The soft melody filled every corner of the room, and all my nervousness gradually faded away. I talked naturally about his musical styles and famous works, and everyone listened attentively. When I finished my oral report, warm applause burst out around me. That round of applause marked a turning point for me. Not only did the result build up my confidence, but Mrs. Rhodes helped me see my potential. She praised my thorough preparation and wonderful combination of speech and music after class. She told me that I had a good sense of expression and a gift for appreciating classical music. From then on, I no longer feared speaking in public. I began to take an active part in class activities and even developed a deep love for classical music. That oral report became a precious turning point in my school life, encouraging me to bravely try new things and discover more possibilities within myself. 听力原文 Text 1 W: The weather forecast warned of rain later today. M: Yeah, but look! The sun is shining brightly right now. (1) Text 2 M: Hurry, or we’ll miss the start of the film. W: I really don’t want to go to the cinema tonight. How about the new Chinese restaurant where Sarah had her birthday party last week? M: Okay, let’s just go to the restaurant for a nice dinner. (2) Text 3 W: I used to play the piano a lot, but now I prefer reading novels. M: Really? I used to draw cartoons, but now I spend most of my free time playing football. (3) Text 4 W: Dad, Rose will fly kites with me this afternoon. Can I join her? M: Sure, but you must finish your homework first. I’ll prepare fruit snacks for you two. W: All right, I’ll start my homework right away.(4) Text 5 M: What should we get for Lucy’s birthday? I’ve been thinking about it for a long time but I still don’t know what to get her. (5) W: She loves art. How about a painting set? M: Perfect idea! She will surely enjoy that. Text 6 M: Excuse me, do you have any reference books about Chinese art history? I can’t find them on the shelves. W: Sorry, all those books are sold out in our store now. (6) New arrivals will come next Monday. M: I have full-day classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so I’ll drop by next Thursday. (7) Text 7 W: Excuse me, I’m on a business trip in Beijing, (8) but I’ve lost my way to the Green Hotel. Could you tell me how to get there? M: With pleasure. Walk along Chang’an Street and turn left at the first crossing. You'll spot a post office and a grocery store; the hotel is in front of the grocery store on Renmin Road. (9) W: Is it far? Do I need to take a taxi? M: It’s within five minutes’ bike ride. W: I can’t ride bikes, so I will walk there. (10) Thanks a lot. Text 8 M: Hi, Linda. Have you heard of the popular VR travel recently? W: Not really. Is it just like watching ordinary travel videos? M: Definitely not. With VR devices, we can travel around the world at home. I tried the Great Wall yesterday. (11) The all-round view is so real, just like I was standing on the spot. W: That sounds interesting. Can we interact with the environment? M: Sure. You can walk around and look around freely. It’s perfect for people who are too busy or don’t have enough budget for real trips. Besides, VR travel does no harm to nature at all. (12) W: That’s a big advantage. I decide to try it this weekend. I will start with the Eiffel Tower. (13) M: Nice choice! I’m going to explore the Pyramids through VR. Hope you have fun! W: Thank you. You too! Text 9 M: Have you heard about the new coffee shop on Oliver Street? W: The one next to the library with free Wi-Fi? M: No, that’s an old one. I’m talking about the one across from the Central Park. It has a beautiful garden. (14) W: Sounds nice. What are their hours? M: Weekdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., but on weekends they close at 10 p.m..(15) W: I might go there with my sister next Monday to try their coffee. M: And they’re looking for part-time workers. W: Really? I need a part-time job. I’ll go and talk to the manager tomorrow. (16) Text 10 M: Good evening, everyone. Today I want to talk about an art project about climate change. My city is on the coast, and the land here is very flat. In recent years, rising sea levels often cause floods in our city. To let the people pay more attention to this problem, I started a small art project. (17) I made many big sign boards with numbers on them. If the number is one, it means the sea level will rise by one foot and the houses will be flooded. (18) I gave these sign boards to local families, and they put them in their yards. I also shared this project with students during my classes. That is why many children make more sign boards and put them near schools and roads. (19) This project works very well. Local families even set up a group to solve climate problems together. We hold monthly meetings to discuss useful environmental actions. This tells us a simple truth: art is not just for fun; it can also help to make a difference to our community and even change our world. (20) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
