(A)
Bob is dreaming about being successful in science. And he always knows that if he wants to make his dream come true, he has to do well in maths and physics.
Bob studied really hard in these subjects. He listened carefully in class and finished his homework seriously. However, he still failed the physics exam. He became so sad that he thought his dream would never come true. When he arrived home, his mother was preparing dinner. He told his mother about that. After a while, his mother handed him a peanut (花生) and said, “Pinch (捏) it hard.” Bob did that and the peanut shell broke, leaving a peanut kernel (果仁). Then, his mother asked him to pinch the peanut kernel. After he pinched it, the red skin came off the peanut kernel, leaving only the white fruit.
Bob’s mother asked him to pinch the white fruit. Bob felt confused but did it. However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t break off the white fruit. Finally, his mother told him, “In our life, we are sure to meet a lot of difficulties. But as long as we keep a strong heart and never despair, there will be hope of making our dreams come true.”
After hearing his mother’s words, Bob understood that he shouldn’t lose heart. He felt thankful to his mother and took his physics paper out.
21. Why did Bob feel very sad?
A. Because he got bad grades in maths.
B. Because he worked carelessly in class.
C. Because he finished his homework late.
D. Because he didn’t pass the physics exam.
22. What does the underlined word “despair” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Get angry. B. Lose confidence. C. Feel curious. D. Keep quiet.

24. What does the writer mainly want to tell us?
A. We should be thankful to our parents.
B. We can pinch the peanut in an easy way.
C. We must study maths and physics very hard.
D. We should keep a strong heart when meeting difficulties.
25. What would happen next according to the last paragraph?
A. Bob would continue studying physics hard.
B. Bob would pinch the white fruit again and again.
C. Bob would throw away his physics paper angrily.
D. Bob would give up his dream of becoming a scientist.

In April 2024, 60-year-old Yang Huade from Sichuan received the “People Who Touched China 2023” award. As a Chinese agricultural expert, he has played a key role in developing agriculture in both China and Burundi.
When Yang first arrived in Burundi, he was shocked that the country was too short of food. He wanted to change this situation. So in 2015, he led a team to Burundi. These experts shared their knowledge and experience to increase food production to meet the needs of the local population.
Burundi has a population of over 12 million, but only about 1.3 million hm² of land is used for growing food. Though the country has enough water and sunlight, its agricultural production remains low, and the rice types grown in this area are not fit for local conditions.
As a scientist in the field of hybrid rice, Yang clearly knew its advantages. So the experts decided to introduce it to Burundi. Since April 2016, the expert team has chosen seven hybrid rice types. They came across many big challenges, like the differences in climate and land conditions. Finally, they ended up with success after thousands of tests and studies.
Yang said he would continue to stay in Burundi and try his best to ensure that no one would suffer from hunger again. What a great person!

根据第一段“In April 2024, 60-year-old Yang Huade”可知,2024年4月杨华德60岁;根据第二段“So in 2015, he led a team to Burundi”可知他于2015年带队前往布隆迪。
根据第三段内容分析选项:A项与“agricultural production remains low”矛盾;B项混淆了人口(over 12 million)和土地面积(1.3 million hm²);C项与“has enough water and sunlight”矛盾;D项与“the rice types grown in this area are not fit for local conditions”表述一致。
根据第四段“They came across many big challenges…”,可知工作过程充满挑战,即“Hard”;根据最后一段“…ensure that no one would suffer from hunger again. What a great person!” 对应 B选项“Hard but meaningful.”。
(C)
China’s Fridges Use Less Power Starting in 2026
How much electricity does your fridge use? Because of the new rules starting on June 1, 2026, fridges in China use less electricity and provide more space for food, according to The Paper.
If you want to see how much electricity a fridge uses, look at the China Energy Label. It is a blue-and-white sticker on the front of the fridge. This label was first introduced in 2005. It shows levels from class 1 to class 5. Class 1 is the best. Many machines, like TVs and washing machines, also have this label to help people choose wisely.
The new rules are stricter. For example, before, a 500-liter fridge could be class 1 if it used 0.92 kilowatt-hours (kWh) each day. Under the new rules, it must use no more than 0.55 kWh. This can save about 135 kWh of electricity in a year and it costs about 68 yuan less, CCTV said.
Since our country sells about 60 million fridges each year, this means China can save about 8 billion kWh in electricity!
Fridge sizes also matter in the new rules. Expert Cheng Jianhong said fridge makers must give 10 to 30 percent more space inside. They can do this by using new technology, such as thinner insulation materials
The government also gives money back if people buy energy-saving fridges. For class 1 fridges, buyers can get up to 2,000 yuan back. For class 2 fridges, they get up to 1,500 yuan back, according to media reports.
31. How does the writer begin the passage?
A. By asking a question. B. By telling a story.
C. By giving an example. D. By comparing two things.
32. What can we infer about a class 1 fridge under the new label system from the passage?
A. It has less space for food inside. B. It uses more electricity than before.
C. It is cheaper than a class 2 fridge. D. It saves more electricity than before.
33. What does the word “They” in Paragraph 5 refer to?
A. The new rules. B. Fridge makers. C. Thinner materials. D. Expert Cheng Jianhong.
34. Which of the following is an opinion according to the passage?
A. It is a great way to save both energy and money by following the new rules.
B. The government will give money back if people buy energy-saving fridges.
C. The China Energy Label is a blue-and-white sticker on the front of the fridge.
D. Under the new rules, a 500-liter Class 1 fridge must use no more than 0.55 kWh.

It is famous as the saltiest lake in the world. It has much more salt. It is nearly ten times as salty as ordinary seawater.
With too much salt, almost no fish or plants can live in it, so people call it the Dead Sea. The most amazing feature of the Dead Sea is that people can float on the water without sinking. It is really an amazing natural wonder.
However, this special water body is facing trouble now. It is becoming smaller and drier year by year because of higher temperatures and more evaporation (蒸发).
If we do not take action, the Dead Sea may disappear in the future. To make these wonderful natural treasures exist for a longer time, we should learn more about such special waters and try our best to protect them.

A. It is a great way to save both energy and money by following the new rules.
