I was so tired of packing! I put a box on the floor next to all the others. Each box had “Vasant’s Room” on it in big, messy letters (凌乱的字母). My writing showed how sad and angry I was.
All the boxes were going to the same place—our new house. But I didn’t want to leave my house at 1502 Cherry Lane. I loved it. I loved reading in my room. I loved playing with my dog in the yard. I didn’t want to leave all that behind.
My dad came into my room. “How’s the packing going here?” he asked.
“I hate packing,” I said. “Why do we have to leave?”
My dad sat on the bed. “I know how you feel, Vasant. When I was a boy, I loved my old house too. I missed it when I left to come to America. But I realized what I really missed was the memories (回忆), not the house itself. I missed playing with my brothers and smelling dinner cooking.”
“I’ll miss things like that too,” I said.
“That’s okay,” Dad said. “You’ll always have those memories. This house has been good to us. Now it’s time for another family to make memories here. And we’ll make new memories in the new house.”
Hearing Dad’s words, I started to imagine how I’d decorate my new room and make new memories there. I knew I’d always remember 1502 Cherry Lane, but I was excited to start something new too.
( )24.What was Vasant doing in his room?
A.Cleaning the floor. B.Packing up things. C.Reading books.

( )26.How did Vasant’s dad make Vasant feel better?
A.He gave Vasant a special gift.
B.He showed Vasant some old pictures.
C.He told Vasant about his own experience.
( )27.What’s the best title for the passage?
A.Old memories, new beginnings B.Living in an old street C.Packing for a trip

Did you know that just several green plants in a classroom could help you do better in maths and spelling? A study by the University of Technology Sydney in Australia found that classroom plants could boost maths scores (分数) by up to 14 per cent and spelling scores by up to 12 per cent.
But plants aren’t just good for grades. They can also make the air cleaner and help you feel happier. There are lots of easy-to-care-for plants that are perfect for classrooms, like spider plants and devil’s ivies (吊兰和绿萝).
Want to have fun growing green plants at school? Try these ideas.

*Try growing plants in water! Put a piece of a plant like a devil’s ivy into a glass of water. Watch for new roots (根) to grow!
*Start school gardens. You could grow flowers for bees and butterflies or delicious vegetables! They help you enjoy nature, eat healthy food, and stay active.
