Last summer, I visited the beautiful city of Greenfield for the first time. Everything was new to me, and I often lost my way.
One sunny morning, I wanted to send some postcards to my friends. After leaving my hotel, I held the postcards in my hand and started walking. But soon, I realized I didn’t know where the nearest post office was.
Just then, I saw an old man sitting on a bench. I walked up to him and asked, “Excuse me, sir. Could you tell me how to get to the post office?” He gave me a warm smile and replied, “Sure! Walk along Bridge Street. When you pass a big supermarket, keep going. At the second crossing, turn left. Then walk down Fifth Avenue. You’ll find the post office on your right. It’s beside a flower shop.”
I thanked him and began my journey. As I walked along Bridge Street, I kept an eye out for the supermarket. When I finally saw it, I felt a little more confident. At the second crossing, I remembered to turn left. On Fifth Avenue, I looked around carefully. Finally, I spotted the post office just as the old man had described. It took me about 15 minutes to get there. Next to the post office was a quiet library. After posting the postcards, I read some books in it.
This experience taught me that asking for directions and following them carefully can always lead us to our destination (目的地).
4. Why did the writer often lose his way in Greenfield?
A. Because the city was too big.
B. Because the city was too crowded.

A. By asking a question about the library.
B. By showing his feelings about the experience.
C. By telling another story about the old man.

As a young man, Nie Chang has already become one of the most well-known online teachers. He teaches Tibetan (藏语) online and introduces the language to learners worldwide.
Nie started learning Tibetan during his college years. However, he found it challenging. There were very few beginner-friendly books. Most teachers were from Xizang, and their ways of teaching didn’t fit outsiders (非本地人). To solve this problem, Nie bought many books, practiced day and night, and took his own study notes. Over time, he mastered (掌握) it and found a clear learning system (系统) for learners like himself.
Later, Nie moved to Lhasa and began offering online classes. He used his own learning journey to guide his classes. He mixed grammar with daily conversations and shared local culture with learners. “I always try to put myself in my students’ shoes,” he said. “That helps me make lessons easier for everyone to understand.” He also made short videos about Tibetan food and festivals, and posted them on social media.
More and more students are taking Nie’s classes. Most of them live outside Xizang, and some come from other countries. They’re interested in Tibetan culture and history. They feel happy to study both language and culture in Nie’s classes.
Language isn’t just words but a bridge. As one of his students said, “Tibetan is a little difficult, but it’s a helpful tool to communicate with the locals. Even saying a few simple words makes their faces light up.”

I have recently done a survey about how students learn English out of class by interviewing 50 students in my school.
Almost all students read textbooks. They think reading textbooks is the most important for English learning. More than 40 students make word cards. Some students go over their notes they have taken in class. However, only a few students ask the teachers for help.
In my opinion, good listening and speaking are the secrets to becoming a good language learner. We need to do lots of listening and speaking practice, such as watching English movies and listening to English songs. Also, chatting with foreigners can be helpful.
