Are you feeling stressed or tired? Do you need something to help you feel better? In a town in Switzerland (瑞士), doctors are offering their patients a special prescription (药方) to help them feel better: visiting museums. Instead of just giving medicine, they provide patients free tickets to local museums as part of their treatment (治疗).
The idea came from a World Health Organization (WHO) report. According to the report, art can be good for people’s mental (心理的) health. Watching paintings, drawings or historical objects can help them forget their worries and make them feel happy. Also, walking around a museum is good exercise—it keeps them moving and helps their bodies stay healthy.
If the program works well, the doctors might add other art activities like visiting theatres or watching dance performances to their prescriptions. They hope to help more patients, especially those feeling down.
Dr Sauvain, said he had already given museum prescriptions to two patients. “I think these patients will get help from museum prescriptions. We’ll push them to get physical and mental exercise. And as a doctor, it’s really nice to prescribe museum visits instead of medicines or tests,” he said.
So, if you’re feeling down, why not go on a trip to a museum? It might help you feel better soon.

On July 22, 2024, a sudden fire broke out in Jasper National Park, Canada. The fire grew fast, and many campers were in the area. They needed to leave right away. Luckily, an 18-year-old volunteer firefighter named Colleen Knull was there to help.
Colleen was working in the park when the fire started. She saw smoke rising from the mountains. Without wasting any time, she told people around to go out and began looking for other campers. Soon, Colleen found 16 people and helped them walk for four hours through the dark forest to a safe place.
One of the campers, Rebecca, described Colleen as “an amazing leader (领导)”. During the walk, the air was filled with smoke, making it hard to see and breathe. But Colleen was calm. She didn’t seem nervous, telling everyone to stay together. She knew the area well and showed them the way. She found the trees she had seen before and looked for horse prints to help them find the way.
As they made their way down the mountain, Colleen led the 16 people to safety without anyone getting seriously hurt.
Colleen Knull’s quick thinking and leadership helped save many lives. She showed us that being caring and brave is important in a dangerous situation.

B. A heavy rain fell.
C. Some volunteers got lost.

B. We should stay calm and brave when facing danger.
C. We should always be prepared for natural disasters.
A 25. C 26. C 27. B
根据第一段第一句“On July 22, 2024, a sudden fire broke out in Jasper National Park, Canada.”

When you first hear about the Dead Sea, it might sound scary, but the truth is quite different. Let’s get closer to the Dead Sea and learn more about it.
The Dead Sea is located in Southwest Asia. It is about 50 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide at its widest point. It sits at about 430 meters below sea level, making it the lowest point on Earth’s land.
What’s interesting is that the Dead Sea isn’t actually a sea. It’s a lake with a salt concentration (含盐度) of more than 30 percent, which is about eight times saltier than typical (典型的) seawater. This makes it one of the saltiest bodies of water on Earth.
The Dead Sea stays so salty because of its special natural conditions. Each year, it receives very little rainfall, and only a small amount (量) of fresh water runs into it. And the hot weather around the Dead Sea causes the fresh water to evaporate (蒸发) quickly. That makes the salt concentration even higher. For these reasons, it is also known as the Salt Sea.
If you swim in the Dead Sea, you won’t see any sea life — no plants or animals. The high salt concentration makes it impossible for them to live there. That’s actually why it’s called the Dead Sea.
However, don’t let the name or not having any sea life scare you. Even if you fall into the Dead Sea and can’t swim, you won’t die. The high concentration of salt in the Dead Sea allows anyone to float well, without the need for life buoys (救生圈). In fact, many people visit the Dead Sea every year on vacation. If you walk along the lakeside, you’ll probably see many people floating in the water, reading books or magazines.
28. What do we know about the Dead Sea?
A. It is located in Southeast Asia.
B. It is the lowest lake on Earth’s land.
C. It is a real sea with high salt concentration.
29. What makes the Dead Sea so salty?
A. A lot of seawater runs into it.
B. Human activities improve the salt levels.
C. Little rain falls and fresh water evaporates quickly.
30. What does the underlined word “float” probably mean in the article?
A. jump or swim into water
B. go down below the surface of water
C. stay or move on the surface of water
31. What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph?
A. People feel scared when swimming in the Dead Sea.
B. If people can’t swim, they’ll still be safe in the Dead Sea.
C. A life buoy is necessary when swimming in the Dead Sea.
B 29. C 30. C 31. B
第二段指出关键信息:“It sits at about 430 meters below sea level, making it the lowest point on Earth’s land.”,同时说明死海地处西亚、本质是湖泊,这直接说明死海是陆地上海拔最低的湖泊。
第四段说明成因:“Each year, it receives very little rainfall...the hot weather around the Dead Sea causes the fresh water to evaporate quickly.”,少雨、淡水快速蒸发两点,因此造就死海极高的含盐量。
最后一段解释词义:“The high concentration of salt in the Dead Sea allows anyone to float well, without the need for life buoys”,不用救生圈也不会下沉,说明“float”指停留在水面或在水面移动。
最后一段给出推断依据:“Even if you fall into the Dead Sea and can’t swim, you won’t die.”,不会游泳的人落入死海也不会丧命,因此可推断不会游泳的人在死海中依旧安全。

前文说流鼻血很常见,人们常会担心,用“Don’t worry”安抚情绪,D选项“Most nosebleeds can be stopped quickly and easily.”
后文出现“For example”,列举干燥空气、鼻子受伤等多种诱发流鼻血的因素,A选项“Many things can cause nosebleeds.”
前一句点明只了解流鼻血诱因远远不够,F选项“It’s more important to stop a nosebleed properly and safely.”

To make this happen, he needed a tracker (追踪器). At first, he made his own tracker with a 3-metre-long antenna (天线). He ____40____ it again and again. ____41____, the tracker didn’t work well. Instead of being sad about this ____42____, Wheeler decided to improve it. He asked his teacher for help, and the teacher ____43____ him to try 3D-printing (三维打印) new parts. Wheeler followed the suggestion. After lots of hard work, he finally ____44____ to make it work. The tracker helped Wheeler win second prize in a top competition (竞赛) for middle school students in the US.
Wheeler wasn’t only interested in talking to the astronauts ____45____. He also wanted to let his friends talk to them. He thought it would be a ____46____ experience for everyone to share. “I enjoy taking on challenges. Every small step brings me closer to my dream,” he said.

根据空后“liked asking questions”这一行为特征,以及be...about。be curious about意为“对……
根据上文“even though he met some problems”,可知此处表达的是面对困难时的坚持态度。determined not to give up
根据空后句子“the tracker didn’t work well”,这是一个消极的结果。
根据上文“didn’t work well”以及本句“Instead of being sad about this...”,可知空格处指代的是前面的失败经历。
根据上文“asked his teacher for help”以及空后“to try 3D-printing”。advise sb. to do sth.
根据上文“After lots of hard work”以及空后“to make it work”。manage to do sth.
根据上文“let his friends talk to them”以及“share(分享)”,这是一种积极、正面的体验。

根据前文“When I first arrived on this island, I had nothing.”
根据破折号后列举的“food and drink, tools, knives and guns”可知,带回来的物资有很多,所以选择C项plenty of表示“大量的”。
根据空后的“I have lost everything”与主句“I have not lost my life”之间存在的语义转折与让步关系可知,此处表示虽然失去了一切但保住了性命,所以选择E项Although表示“尽管”。
根据前文“I have not lost my life”以及空后的“and I will wait for another ship”可知,作者依然抱有获救的希望,说明他心态积极乐观,所以选择F项look on the bright side表示“往好处想”。
根据空前“cut down trees and built a house”并结合常识可知,独自一人砍树建房是一个缓慢、循序渐进的过程,所以选择B项bit by bit表示“一点一点地”。
根据前文“I found the marks of another man’s feet on the sand.”
根据前文“trying to kill two men”可知一共有两个人,固定搭配“one…the other…”
根据空后的“from the ground”以及“helped him kill the cannibals”可知,作者是从地上站起身来前去帮忙,所以选择F项got to my feet表示“站起来”。
根据空前“this man lived with me”以及空后的副词“well”可知,此处是固定搭配get along well with sb.
根据空前的“We pulled together and got over a lot of”可知,两人齐心协力克服了很多东西,结合荒岛求生的语境,克服的自然是困难,所以选择C项trouble表示“困难”。

Dear Tom,
Thank you for your e-mail. You must be excited about coming to China soon. Let me give you some advice about Chinese customs.
First, let’s talk about greeting ways. We usually shake hands and smile when meeting people for the first time. We greet older people first to show our full respect. Then let’s learn our table manners. It’s polite to wait for elders to start eating. Never stick chopsticks into food, point at others or wave them. Don’t talk with your mouth full. When visiting a Chinese family, bring special snacks from your home country, or buy fresh fruit and beautiful flowers as proper gifts.
Hope you will have a good time in China. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Yours,
Li Hua
