A. Her teacher recommended it.
B. She hoped to become a dance instructor.
C. She wanted to improve her skills.
16. Why does the man mention his friend’s dance planning experience?
A. To explain teamwork’s importance.

C. They provide valuable networking opportunities.
A 15. C 16. B 17. A
M: Lena, I know you’ve been dancing for years. Did you start directly with Contemporary dance when you were young?
W: No, not really. My mother put me in ballet classes at age six and I’ve carried that with me ever since. That’s really been my true foundation as a dancer.
M: I see. So what eventually led you to join a national dance academy? Was it mainly your teacher’s recommendation?
W: Not really, it came more from my own feeling. I needed to improve my skills further and reach a truly professional level. So it was a very personal decision.
M: That makes sense. Speaking of creating and not just performing, have you ever tried to plan the dance for a full show? My friend tried it recently and found that it wasn’t just about teamwork; in fact, creating original work was far harder than he ever expected.
W: I completely agree with that. It’s a huge challenge to build a whole routine from nothing, with no one else’s steps to follow.
M: I can imagine. And on a different note, you’ve joined a lot of international competitions, right? I’ve always heard they are great events for making professional connections and meeting people.
W: That’s true, you certainly can meet a lot of people there. But what impresses me most is that the atmosphere is just intensely competitive — everyone’s mainly there to win.

20. What are the listeners expected to do next?
A. Share their stories. B. Read some books. C. Write down their ideas.
C 19. B 20. A
Sit down, everyone. And put your books away. We won’t need them. Today’s class is different. To start with, thanks for being kind to each other. I always notice everyone’s caring behaviour towards other classmates. And we can all learn to treat each other better. We all want to live in a happier world, right?
I’m talking about being polite and how it makes life better for everyone. When I was your age, my dad taught me these simple rules. These rules improved my life in school and work, so I want to share them with you all as well.
First, never laugh at others when they make mistakes. Second, always let people speak and listen to them closely. And most importantly, treat others the way you want to be treated. No need to write these down. Instead, I’ll share a paper with these rules listed. Before we review the next rules, I’d like some of you to present a story with the class about a very polite person you know.

AI Teaching in Louisa Schools: A Mixed Picture
While less than half of the teachers nationwide have received AI training, Louisa County schools are using artificial intelligence in education. According to district data, 70% of Louisa teachers now use AI tools at least weekly — far above the national average reported in a recent EdWeek Research Center survey (调查).
(A report carried out nationwide and issued by the Center for Democracy and Technology)
Challenges Remain
Still, challenges remain. Some Louisa teachers do not use AI at all. Surveys show the main reasons include lack of training time, concerns about reliability (可靠性), and limited access to tools. As one Trevilians Elementary teacher noted, practicing alone is very different from using AI with students.
Student feedback is also mixed. Some worry AI could “take over the world,” while others appreciate its help as a learning assistant. Teachers like Marcia Flora are addressing fears by explaining that “AI is just one tool” and encouraging critical thinking.
Looking Ahead
Louisa continues to change its approach. One example is the AI “traffic light” that teachers could share with students to help make it clear on which parts of a particular task students could turn to AI for help.
Green means students may use AI with quotation; yellow means limited use; and red means no AI allowed. These tools help put AI into daily learning while encouraging proper use.
As the technology develops, Louisa’s experience offers a real-time model of how schools can prepare students for a tech-driven future.
21. What percentage of the teachers nationwide are using AI in the classroom?
A. 3%. B. 24%. C. 61%. D. 63%.
22. Why do some Louisa teachers avoid using AI?
A. They fear AI will take over the world. B. They feel alone in using AI.
C. They feel unprepared to use AI. D. They feel AI is just a tool.
23. What does the AI “traffic light” system do?
A. It limits teachers’ use of AI in lessons. B. It guides students on proper AI use.
C. It encourages students to use AI more. D. It is used to lecture students about online safety.
C 22. C 23. B
根据图片中的信息“I use them a lot(我经常使用它们)”可知,经常使用AI的老师占3%,“I use them some(我有时用它们)”可知,有时使用AI的老师是21%,“I use them a little(我用它们用得不多)”可知,用的不多的老师占37%,所以全国范围内,在课堂上使用人工智能的老师占比为3%+21%+37%=61%。
根据Challenges Remain标题下的“Some Louisa teachers do not use AI at all. Surveys show the main reasons include lack of training time, concerns about reliability (可靠性), and limited access to tools. As one Trevilians Elementary teacher noted, practicing alone is very different from using AI with students.(一些路易莎的老师根本不使用人工智能。调查显示,主要原因包括缺乏培训时间、对可靠性的担忧以及工具获取有限。正如一位特雷维利安斯小学老师指出的那样,独自练习与和学生一起使用人工智能是非常不同的)”可知,一些路易莎的老师避免使用人工智能是因为他们觉得自己没有准备好有效地将人工智能融入教学中,即他们觉得自己没有准备好有效地整合人工智能。
【23题详解】
细节理解题。根据Looking Ahead标题下的第一段“One example is the AI“traffic light” that teachers could share with students to help make it clear on which parts of a particular assignment students could turn to AI for help.(一个例子是人工智能“交通灯”,教师可以与学生分享,以帮助明确在特定作业的哪些部分学生可以求助于人工智能)”以及第二段“Green means students may use AI with citation: yellow means limited use: and red means no AI allowed. These tools help integrate AI into daily learning while encouraging proper use.(绿色表示学生可以在引用的情况下使用人工智能;黄色表示有限使用;红色表示不允许使用人工智能。这些工具有助于将人工智能融入日常学习,同时鼓励正确使用)”可知,人工智能“交通灯”系统指导学生正确使用人工智能。

I live in a small town in Yunnan Province, on the historic Tea Horse Road. My family has lived there for many generations. I remember when I was very young, old people told me about the horse caravan (马队) traders who had traveled that path for centuries, carrying tea, silks, etc. to markets as far away as India. So, when I first heard that Paul Salopek was going to walk the entire globe on his own two feet without any modern transportation, I was blown away. I couldn’t imagine that there could still be such an unusual person in the world.
It was even more surprising when one day in May of 2021, I found myself meeting Paul at a noodle shop. It was his first time in China. Paul talked to me with great excitement about the history and discovery in my region of China. He spoke of the Shu-Yandu Dao (the Sichuan to India trading route), the Southern Silk Road, the Tea Horse Road, and the 17th-century Chinese explorer Xu Xiake. Paul considered him a hero and in a sense a Chinese pioneer of slow tourism.
Then I made my biggest decision of 2021: I would accompany Paul for hundreds of miles on his walk toward my home of Yunnan. On September 28, 2021, we finally set out. Our days were simple: walk, eat, sleep, and repeat. I ate when I was hungry, walked after I ate, and slept when I got tired.
As I accompanied Paul to walk on ancient paths through great mountains, I seemed to hear the distant sound of horse bells lost in time. Together, we were amazed by the biodiversity (生物多样性) of the Gaoligong Mountains and moved by long-past stories that had happened there. I walked from Yusan village to a lakeside town in Yunnan called Eryuan—just a warm-up trip into China for Paul. But after only 410,000 paces. I reached a real appreciation for my home.
24. How did the author feel when he first heard of Paul’s story?
A. Amazed. B. Inspired. C. Doubtful. D. Uncaring.
25. Which of the following can best describe Paul?
A. An advocate of Chinese traditions.
B. A supporter of slow travel experiences.
C. A writer documenting his global journey.
D. A historian specializing in ancient trade routes.
26. What might the author have gained from his walk?
A. Mastery of modern transportation.
B. A deeper connection with his family.
C. Rediscovery of the world around him.
D. Insights into ancient trading practices.
27. What might be the best title for the text?
A. Looking for a Way Home B. Traveling Around Yunnan
C. Exploring the Tea Horse Road D. Walking with a Modern Explorer
A 25. B 26. C 27. D
根据第一段中的“So, when I first heard that Paul Salopek was going to walk the entire globe on his own two feet without any modern transportation, I was blown away. I couldn’t imagine that there could still be such an unusual person in the world. (当我首次听闻保罗·萨洛佩克打算仅凭自己的双脚,不借助任何现代交通工具走遍全球时,我感到非常震惊。我无法想象世界上竟然还有如此不同寻常的人.)”可知,作者一开始听到Paul的故事时感到很吃惊。故选A。
根据第一段中的“Paul Salopek was going to walk the entire globe on his own two feet without any modern transportation(保罗·萨洛佩克打算仅凭自己的双脚走遍全球,不借助任何现代交通工具)”和第二段中的“Paul considered him a hero and in a sense a Chinese pioneer of slow tourism(保罗认为他是英雄,从某种意义上说,是中国慢速旅游的先驱)”可知,Paul徒步环游世界,不依赖现代交通方式,展现了一种慢旅行方式。
根据最后一段“As I accompanied Paul to walk on ancient paths through great mountains, I seemed to hear the distant sound of horse bells lost in time.
根据第一段中的“So, when I first heard that Paul Salopek was going to walk the entire globe on his own two feet without any modern transportation, I was blown away. I couldn’t imagine that there could still be such an unusual person in the world. (当我首次听闻保罗·萨洛佩克打算仅凭自己的双脚,不借助任何现代交通工具走遍全球时,我感到非常震惊。我无法想象世界上竟然还有如此不同寻常的人。)”、倒数第二段“Then I made my biggest decision of 2021: I would accompany Paul for hundreds of miles on his walk toward my home of Yunnan. On September 28, 2021, we finally set out .( 然后我做出了2021年最重要的决定:我会陪伴保罗走几百英里,前往我的家乡云南。2021年9月28日,我们终于出发了。)”以及最后一段“As I accompanied Paul to walk on ancient paths through great mountains, I seemed to hear the distant sound of horse bells lost in time.

Buried in ash after Vesuvius’ eruption, hundreds of scrolls (卷轴) have kept their secrets hidden for centuries. But archaeologists have now been able to uncover some of the ancient text with the help of artificial intelligence.
Until now, the only way to read what’s inside the scrolls is to put together the thousands of pieces of the ones that fell apart, which may take 500 years to uncover their content. Fortunately, a team led by Professor Scales had already pioneered a way to “virtually unwrap” an ancient scroll using X-ray tomography But that was not enough to read the hardly visible (可见的) ink on the ancient documents. The chemistry of the ink from the ancient world is different than the chemistry from medieval times. It’s largely invisible to the naked eye even when caught by the X-ray.
In 2019, they did come up with a solution based on artificial intelligence to “see” the ink, but it needed much data. So they launched the Vesuvius Challenge to speed up the work and released software and thousands of 3D X-ray images of three pieces and two rolled-up scrolls, in the hope that global research groups would take up the challenge.
In the end, a team of three students shared the grand prize. They could read 2,000 letters from the scroll after training machine-learning algorithms (算法) on the scans. After creating a 3D scan of the text using a CT scan, the scroll was then separated into sections. A machine learning model — an application of AI — then spotted the inked regions, allowing them to decipher the text.
Mastro, an Italian professor, called the technique “revolutionary”. “We worked actually day and night to study them, but I am more excited that using this method we can uncover what has been hidden in the scrolls for almost 2,000 years,” said Mastro.
28. What issue was solved with X-ray tomography?
A. Showing the scrolls without opening them. B. Putting divided pieces into a whole complete.
C. The fragile nature of the scrolls. D. The difficulty in understanding ancient languages.
29. How did AI function in processing the scrolls?
A. By unwrapping the scrolls. B. By researching the chemistry.
C. By separating them with relics. D. By identifying the hardly visible ink.
30. What does the underlined word “decipher” mean in paragraph 4?
A. Transmit. B. Understand. C. Arrange. D. Summarize.
31. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Scrolls promote technological revolution. B. New technology discovered relics in Vesuvius.
C. AI advanced the way to read ancient scrolls. D. Hidden secrets are recorded by archaeologists.
A 29. D 30. B 31. C
根据第二段中“Fortunately, a team led by Professor Scales had already pioneered a way to "virtually unwrap" an ancient scroll using X-ray tomography (断层扫描术). (幸运的是,由斯凯尔斯教授带领的团队已经率先探索出一种利用X射线断层扫描术“虚拟展开”古卷轴的方法。)”可知,X射线断层扫描术解决的是无需打开卷轴就能展示其内容的问题。
【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“In 2019, they did come up with a solution based on artificial intelligence to “see” the ink, but it needed much data. (2019年,他们确实提出了一种基于人工智能的解决方案来“识别”墨迹,但该方案需要大量数据支撑。)”以及第四段中“A machine learning model — an application of AI — then spotted the inked regions (一个机器学习模型——人工智能的一种应用——随后发现了有墨迹的区域)”可知,人工智能在处理卷轴过程中的功能是识别出那些几乎看不见的墨迹。
【30题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第四段中“A machine learning model — an application of AI — then spotted the inked regions, allowing them to decipher the text. (一个机器学习模型——人工智能的一种应用——随后发现了有墨迹的区域,使他们能够decipher文本。)”可知,在识别出墨迹区域之后,接下来自然是能够读懂或理解这些文字,因此decipher意为“理解”或“破译”。
【31题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段中“But archaeologists have now been able to uncover some of the ancient text with the help of artificial intelligence. (但是考古学家现在能够在人工智能的帮助下揭示一些古代文本。)”并结合全文内容可知,文章主要讲述了人工智能推动了阅读古卷轴方式的进步。
D
A role shift — whether a promotion, a move to a new organization, or a fresh challenge in your existing job — can be a huge push to your career and a chance for you to succeed. You know the drill heading in: apply your experience and talents to the position, make sure you are accepted by the hierarchy (高层), and get a few big wins in the first couple of months to show what you can do.
But in today’s hyper-collaborative and dynamic workplaces, successful moves aren’t as easy as they once were, even for the most capable and hard-working people. Too often, transitional managers and employees don’t live up to their organizations’ expectations. Gartner surveys indicate that a full 49% of people promoted within their own companies are underperforming up to 18 months after those moves, and McKinsey reports that 27% to 46% of transitional executives are regarded as failures or disappointments two years later. They have the right skills and experience. They understand the company’s goals. So why didn’t they quickly specialize in their new roles?
We explored employee relationships and communication patterns across more than 100 diverse companies and interviewed 160 executives in 20 of them. Our research points to one unnoticed prerequisite (先决条件) for transition success: the effective use of internal networks. The people who are the most productive, innovative, and engaged in new roles — the “fast movers” are those who establish extremely broad, mutually beneficial, uplifting connections from the start. Specifically, they develop rapidly into a broad network; identify how they add value, where they fall short, and who can fill the gaps; create scale; and shape their networks for maximum thriving (繁荣).
In most cases, individual managers must do these things on their own. Only 43% of people surveyed said their organizations ensured that transitional employees were offered guidance and support. Only about a quarter said their employers encouraged them to build connections early or create networks to address skill gaps. But that should not be the case.
32. What does the author say about job moves in today’s society?
A. They may not produce good results. B. They require ability presentation.
C. They are a lift to our career. D. They need to be guided by managers.
33. Why didn’t transitional executives succeed in their new roles?
A. They fail to use internal networks effectively. B. They lack the necessary job-related skills.
C. They misunderstand the company’s goals. D. They rely on their own experience.
34. How does the author make his points believable?
A. By using exact numbers. B. By listing examples.
C. By making contrasts. D. By conducting surveys.
35. What does the author think of the phenomenon in the last paragraph?
A. It’s common. B. It’s acceptable. C. It’s unexpected. D. It’s unsurprising.
A 33. A 34. D 35. C

根据第二段中的“But in today’s hyper-collaborative and dynamic workplaces, successful moves aren’t as easy as they once were, even for the most capable and hard-working people. Too often, transitional managers and employees don’t live up to their organizations’ expectations. (但在如今高度协作、动态变化的职场中,即便对于最有能力、最勤奋的人来说,成功的岗位变动也不再像从前那么容易。转型的管理者和员工往往无法达到公司的预期。)”可知,如今的岗位变动未必能取得好的效果。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Our research points to one unnoticed prerequisite for transition success: the effective use of internal networks. (我们的研究指出了一个被忽视的转型成功的先决条件:有效利用内部人脉网络。)”可知,转型高管无法胜任新岗位,原因是未能有效利用内部人脉网络。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“We explored employee relationships and communication patterns across more than 100 diverse companies and interviewed 160 executives in 20 of them. (我们在100多家不同的公司中探究了员工关系和沟通模式,并且采访了其中20家公司的160名高管。)”可知,作者是通过开展调查的方式让观点可信。
【35题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“Only 43% of people surveyed said their organizations ensured that transitional employees were offered guidance and support. Only about a quarter said their employers encouraged them to build connections early or create networks to address skill gaps. But that should not be the case. 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
For more than a decade, I have taught the same course to both undergraduate and graduate students across diverse majors, including business and nursing. Although my lecture materials, slides, and instructional approaches have remained consistent, last year’s student evaluations reached an all-time high.____36____ So what accounted for this dramatic improvement?
The most important adjustment was the introduction of a strict new policy regarding technology use. This rule prohibited laptops and mobile phones for note-taking, with a single exception: devices could be used only if students were writing with a stylus (手写笔). Unsurprisingly, this decision was met with immediate doubt and opposition at the very beginning. ____37____ They were convinced that their digital tools were essential for academic efficiency. However, after a short period of adjustment, nearly all students reported a positive change in their ability to concentrate.
To justify this policy, I introduced students to relevant research. One key study demonstrated that students who took notes by hand absorbed approximately 30% more information than those who typed on laptops. ____38____ The mental effort involved in handwriting enhances deeper understanding. Additionally, another study with 520 participants found that students who had their phones on their desks performed 20% worse on tests of focus than those who put them away. ____39____
Further evidence indicates that phones, even when powered off, reduce available cognitive capability and lower the quality of face-to-face interaction. ____40____ I believe universities ought to adopt similar measures to support student achievement. This simple yet effective strategy helps create a more focused and engaging learning environment for everyone.
A. This evidence proves the need to boost focus.
B. Many K-12 schools have already banned phones.
C. They worried about missing notes or urgent messages.
D. This shows that phone presence alone impacts students.

上文“For more than a decade, I have taught the same course to both undergraduate and graduate students across diverse majors, including business and nursing. Although my lecture materials, slides, and instructional approaches have remained consistent, last year’s student evaluations reached an all-time high.
上文“The most important adjustment was the introduction of a strict new policy regarding technology use. This rule prohibited laptops and mobile phones for note-taking, with a single exception: devices could be used only if students were writing with a stylus (手写笔). Unsurprisingly, this decision was met with immediate doubt and opposition at the very beginning. (最重要的调整是出台了一项严格的课堂技术使用新规。该规定禁止使用笔记本电脑和手机记笔记,只有一个例外:学生使用手写笔书写时可以使用电子设备。不出所料,这项决定从一开始就遭到了学生的质疑和反对)”介绍了技术使用新规及学生的初始反应,下文“They were convinced that their digital tools were essential for academic efficiency.
上文“To justify this policy, I introduced students to relevant research. One key study demonstrated that students who took notes by hand absorbed approximately 30% more information than those who typed on laptops.
上文“Additionally, another study with 520 participants found that students who had their phones on their desks performed 20% worse on tests of focus than those who put them away. (此外,另一项有520名参与者的研究发现,手机放在桌上的学生在专注力测试中的表现比把手机收起来的学生差20%)”介绍了手机摆放位置影响专注力的研究结果。D项“这表明仅仅是手机出现在视野范围内就会对学生产生影响”承接上文,“这”指代上文的研究结果,总结提炼出手机存在本身就会干扰学生的结论,同时呼应段落核心论点,逻辑通顺。故选D。
【40题详解】
上文“Further evidence indicates that phones, even when powered off, reduce available cognitive capability and lower the quality of face-to-face interaction.

固定短语in celebration of表示“为庆祝……”。
固定结构the ability to do sth.

“Another A+, and I'll get you that new game you've been wanting,” my mom said with a smile. It was just the motivation I needed. I was usually a pretty good student, but with that extra push, I was determined to do well on my next math test. Every evening, I buried myself in my notes, practicing problems. My confidence grew with every completed practice test.
When the big day arrived, I felt ready. I took a deep breath as I entered the classroom and tried to keep calm. But despite all the preparation, my nerves got the better of me. Halfway through the test, I blanked on a formula (公式), and time was running out. I scribbled down (潦草写下) the best answers I could and handed in my paper, hoping for the best.
A week later, I got the test back. My heart sank as I saw the big red “A-” at the top. “No game,” I thought miserably (痛苦地). It wasn't a bad grade, but it wasn't enough. Disappointed, I stared at the grade, wishing it could magically turn into an “A+”. I could almost hear my mom's voice, full of pride, congratulating me on my hard work. The idea gnawed (折磨) at me until I did something I never thought I'd do — I changed the “-” into a “+”.
The moment I got home, I handed the test to my mom with a forced smile. She looked at it and congratulated me, hugging me proudly. For a moment, I felt a rush of happiness. But deep down, guilt started to bubble up. I kept thinking about what I'd done. My parents always taught me to be honest and work hard, and I had broken that trust. That night, I couldn't sleep, thinking about how I'd lied to my mom. My conscience (良心) felt heavier and heavier with each passing day.
注意:1、续写词数应为 150 左右;
Paragraph 1:
After a few days of holding onto the secret, I couldn't take it anymore.

Paragraph 2:
Later that night, I reflected on everything.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
After a few days of holding onto the secret, I couldn’t take it anymore. Sitting with my parents one evening, I took a deep breath and confessed, “Mom, Dad, I need to tell you something about my grade.” They looked at me, surprised and a bit worried. “I ... I didn’t actually get an A+. I got an A-, and I changed it to make you happy.” For a moment, there was silence. My mom’s face softened as she looked at me, and my dad took a deep breath. “We’re disappointed, but we’re proud that you decided to tell us the truth,” my dad said gently. “Changing the grade wasn’t right, but you’ve learned something important.”
Later that night, I reflected on everything. I’d learned that there are no shortcuts to trust or achievement. More importantly, I realized how much my parents cared, not for a perfect grade, but for my character. I promised myself that next time, I’d own my efforts and be honest, no matter the outcome. As I drifted to sleep, I felt a sense of peace, knowing I’d done the right thing. I was ready to work hard, no shortcuts, and make them proud for the right reasons.

E. Students claimed they needed devices for notes or reference.
F. Handwriting forces thinking, while typing is usually mindless.
G. Positive comments about focus and course quality were frequent.
