What is self-care? Self-care is looking after your mind and body. It’s taking
care of your mental (精神的) and emotional health, as well as your physical
health. You are practicing self-care even if you don’t realise it. Brushing your
teeth is self-care. Going to bed because you’re tired, doing enough sports and
reminding yourself that you’re doing your best are also examples of self-care.
Taking care of yourself is important because it builds your self-confidence,
too. Confidence comes from trusting and knowing yourself well. When you
practice self-care, you’re looking after your own needs. This builds more trust
and therefore helps increase your confidence. Showing kindness to yourself helps
you to feel happier.

Make your own self-care kit (自我护理包).A self-care kit is a collection
of things that helps you look after yourself. Things to collect in a self-care kit
might include a photo album of the people and animals you love, a special
treasure, a favourite snack, something that smells or feels nice, and a playlist of
your favourite songs.
Think about what helps you to feel calm, happy and comfortable when
you’re feeling sad or worried. Keep those things in a little bag or box. Whenever
you’re not feeling good, you can turn to your self-care kit and choose something
from it to help you feel better. Over time you might change things in your kit,
