When spring arrives in Yunnan, there comes a unique tradition-eating flowers! People there don’t just enjoy looking at beautiful blossoms (花); they also turn them into delicious dishes. From mountains to markets, edible flowers are everywhere during this season, and they are prepared into various delicacies (佳肴).
In Kunming, local people prepare “flower feasts” with dishes like Stir-fried Bauhinia Flower, Fried White Flowers, and Dendrobium Flower Steamed Egg. “Eating flowers in spring is our custom. These ingredients are seasonal wild flowers, and each dish tastes like spring,” said Zhang Lei, a restaurant owner.
The tradition dates back to ancient times when people learned to pick and cook wild flowers to survive during food shortages. Today, this custom has become a popular culture. In Dali, Bai people have strict rules about flower picking—they only take what they need and never harm the roots.
Kunming’s markets are now filled with colorful edible flowers like broom flowers, pear blossoms, and kapok (攀枝花). Some tourists even take planes to Kunming just to try these special flower dishes.
However, experts remind people to be careful. Not all flowers are safe to eat. People should only buy flowers from official sellers and avoid picking roadside flowers. With over 300 kinds of edible flowers, Yunnan truly offers a “spring feast” for everyone.

The Global Times reported that May 12, 2026 marked the 18th anniversary of the Wenchuan Earthquake. Years have gone by, but touching rescue stories are still remembered, especially the heroic story of 15 Chinese paratroopers (空降兵).
On May 12, 2008, an 8.0-magnitude earthquake hit Wenchuan, Sichuan. Lots of buildings and roads fell down. Some villages in Maoxian lost transport and communication, so trapped villagers could not send out information for help.
To connect these villages to the outside, 15 Chinese paratroopers accepted a risky rescue task. At 11:47 on May 14, they blind-jumped (盲跳) from 4999 meters over Maoxian with no weather data, ground signs or guides. Each soldier carried over 20kg of communication and rescue equipment, and this high jump was seldom seen in China’s parachute (跳伞) history.
After safe landing, they worked day and night for 7 days. They crossed 4 mountains above 3,000 meters and walked 220 kilometers on rough roads. They checked 7 towns and 55 villages, sent more than 30 pieces of disaster reports, built 6 landing places for planes and guided over 20 planes to send supplies.
Their hard work linked cut-off areas to the outside and saved about 100,000 people. With courage and strong will, these ordinary soldiers became respected heroes in the Wenchuan earthquake.

A. About 15 kilos. B. Over 20 kilos.

Have you ever wondered how to truly connect with nature? For centuries, people climbed mountains and sailed oceans. But today, we have a new tool—AI.
For example, the Northern Lights are shy. Tourists used to wait for hours in the freezing dark, often seeing nothing. Now, an AI system called “Aurora Forecast” (极光预报系统) tells people exactly when and where the Northern Lights will dance. When they appear, your phone will send you a message: “Step outside now.” Then you can connect with the sky like never before.
Here is another example. In the Amazon rainforest (亚马逊雨林), connecting with wildlife is hard—the forest is huge and thick. Scientists placed AI-powered listening machines in the trees. The AI can tell apart monkey calls and bird songs. Even better, anyone can listen online. A student in New York can close her eyes and hear the real Amazon—a deep connection across half the Earth.
The last example is the Great Barrier Reef (大堡礁). It stretches far off Australia’s northeast coast under the sea, so most people can never get close to it. However, an AI robot travels across the reef, taking plenty of photos and making clear 3D maps. With a VR headset, a child in London can “swim” alongside real fish and coral. Technology truly builds a bridge between humans and underwater wonders.
So, how do we connect with nature? More and more, the answer includes AI. It doesn’t replace the real experience—but it opens a door once locked for most of us.
36. What can we know from the passage?
A. Aurora Forecast helps people catch the right time to enjoy Northern Lights.
B. Students can watch rainforest animals face to face in New York.
C. Visitors can dive freely to visit the Great Barrier Reef anytime.
D. AI can completely take the place of people’s real experience in nature.
37. The underlined phrase “tell apart” in paragraph 3 probably means
A. find the differences between the sounds B. repeat the sounds made by animals
C. listen carefully to different noises D. write down all kinds of sounds
38. What’s the structure of this passage? (①=paragraph 1. ②=paragraph 2,… )
A. B. C. D.
39. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Children enjoy visiting the natural wonders around the world.
B. AI helps people connect with nature in new ways.
C. Useful high-tech AI products help us with learning.
D. People won’t go travelling to the sea.
40. Where can we most probably read this passage?
A. In a travel guidebook. B. In a science magazine.
C. In a daily food newspaper. D. In a history textbook.

上文“heavy study pressure、spent all my free time doing homework”,体现学习劳累。
固定搭配:take up one’s time“占用某人的时间”,前文担心旅行耽误学习。
后文“our car and walked slowly”,到达山脚后停车步行。

前文“two farmers”,固定搭配one…the other…
固定结构:the best way to do sth. by“通过某种方式”;for“为了”;with“和……一起”都不能用于该不定式结构。
【19题详解】
句意:从那时起,我每周制定计划。
后文“I keep one afternoon free to enjoy natural sights”,说明作者每周做好规划留出时间出游。 take a seat“坐下”、get a long way“走很远”、give it a go“试一试”,无法对应后文规律安排时间的内容。

31. How much equipment did each paratrooper take before the jump?
A. About 15 kilos. B. Over 20 kilos.
C. Nearly 55 kilos. D. Around 7 kilos
32. What can we infer from Paragraph 3?
A. The jump was fully prepared. B. The soldiers did not jump finally.
C. Maoxian County was not badly hurt D. The rescue task was full of dangers.
33. How does the writer support the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A. By listing numbers and facts. B. By asking questions.
C. By making comparisons. D. By showing different opinions.
34. Which of the following words can best describe the 15 paratroopers?
A. Shy and quiet. B. Strict and careless.
C. Brave and hard-working. D. Funny and outgoing.
35. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. A Terrible Earthquake in Wenchuan B. Great Heroes: 15 Brave Paratroopers
C. How to Do Rescue after Earthquakes D. An Exciting Sport—Paragliding
B 32. D 33. A 34. C 35. B

第3段“Each soldier carried over 20kg of communication and rescue equipment”,点明每位空降兵携带了超过20公斤的装备。

第3段“they blind-jumped from 4999 meters over Maoxian with no weather data, ground signs or guides”,点明此次盲跳缺乏气象数据、地面标识和引导,任务充满危险。
原文中第3段“risky rescue task”“blind-jumped”体现了他们的勇敢,第4段“worked day and night for 7 days”体现了他们的勤奋,因此“Brave and hard-working”最能描述这15名空降兵。

C
36. A 37. A 38. D 39. B 40. B

第三段第四句“The AI can tell apart monkey calls and bird songs”,后文提到猴子叫声、鸟鸣两种不同声音,可猜出tell apart意为区分、分辨声音差异,对应A选项。
第一段末句、最后一段“we have a new tool—AI; More and more, the answer includes AI”,全文核心是AI用新方式帮助人们亲近自然,对应B选项;其余选项片面偏离中心。
