I’m from the student help center. Today I’d like to tell you about our workshops this term. Each workshop lasts two hours and is free for all students. Our first workshop is called “Adjusting.” After years in a more structured classroom environment, it is easy to feel lost in college. In this session, we’ll talk about the key skills and habits that lead to success at university. As you might guess, we’re targeting first-year students with this offering. The second workshop is “Time and Life.” You will learn how to plan your time, stop putting things off, and keep a good balance between study and fun. Next, we have “Speaking and Understanding.” It helps students talk with teachers and classmates, especially for foreign students. Later, we host guided walks and skill-building sessions. It teaches you simple ways to relax, breathe deeply, and feel peaceful during tests. Our last one is “Keep Your Motivation.” It’s for students who are doing long research projects and need to stay focused. If you want to know more, come and see us at the Guidance Office. We’re happy to help! A While artistic expression develops in countless forms, artists are still pushing boundaries. The new year has brought a host of exciting and inventive exhibitions, including — but not limited to — the following four: The Space Between Monty, Rome| Artist: Gwen Evans Medium: Painting Introduction: The artist turns domestic scenes into dreamy paintings to create a familiar and strange feeling. She shows it by painting everyday activities with unexpected changes or mysterious figures. Figure in the Field Morgan Lehman Gallery, New York Type: Group Exhibition Introduction: “Figure in the Field” brings together nine artists who see background as an active part of the image. The exhibition shows how each of them negotiates the relationship between figure and field differently. Kaleidoscope THEFOURTH, Cape Town| Artist: Sera Holland| Medium: Mix-medium Painting Introduction: The artist applies thick paint layers, viewing paint as a material that can be built up in three dimensions. Her “Tapestry” works use weaving (编织) logic, making abstract images with thread-like marks like cloth. All Fall Down Francesco Pantaleone, Palermo, Italy Artists: Concetta Modica and Ignazio Mortellaro| Medium: Sculpture Introduction: In “All Fall Down”, the works — placed on the floor or leaning against the walls — appear about to fall at any moment. Their placement presents a sense of unstable balance, creating a dangerous yet beautiful tension. Shared Themes: ◎Challenging insight — Pushing boundaries (real vs. surreal, 2D vs. 3D) ◎Reinterpreting materials and space through form and placement 21. What influences Sera Holland’s art creation? A. Ordinary family scenes. B. The process of weaving. C. South African cultural themes. D. Patterns of light and shadow. 22. Which exhibition features sculptures? A. The Space Between. B. All Fall Down. C. Figure in the Field. D. Kaleidoscope. 23. What can best describe the four exhibitions? A. Three-dimensional. B. Conventional. C. Interactive. D. Experimental. B 22. B 23. 根据Kaleidoscope展览介绍中“Her “Tapestry” works use weaving logic, making abstract images with thread-like marks like cloth.(她的“挂毯”作品运用了编织的逻辑,用类似线的痕迹创作出像布一样的抽象图像)”可知,Sera Holland的艺术创作受到编织过程的影响。 D。 B Sent through the washing. Eaten by insects. Bitten by a dog. These are just some of the ways that books can be damaged, as seen on a recent afternoon at the Weissman Preservation Center. Students in “Texts in Transition,” a GenEd class taught by Professors Ann Blair and Leah Whittington, were visiting the Weissman Preservation Center to witness preservation firsthand. Their course explores how written works are passed down through time. Conservators play a vital role in this process. Their work — repairing torn manuscripts (手稿), reducing insect damage, and so on — ensures the survival of texts from the ancient to the present. At the Weissman Preservation Center, students learn what happens behind the scenes when conservators step in to keep materials usable and preserve them for the future. “Harvard Library not only has remarkable materials gathered over generations but also expert staff who allow students to experience these treasures up close and from new views,” said Blair, a professor in the History Department. As students handled the papers, ink and paints before them, they studied the evidence manuscripts offer researchers and the complexities of preservation. “What happens when the original material is no longer available?” one student asked. “Any treatment we apply must not harm the object and can be restored,” explained Eliza, Senior Paper Conservator. “We always respect the integrity of the materials and only make changes that can be reversed, which is important in our conservation standards.” The class concluded with a close-looking exercise. Using angle lights and pocket microscopes, students examined manuscripts on the table, amazed at iridescent (泛着虹彩的) inks of the pages. One student, enthusiastic about her discoveries, set up her phone to photograph the scene. Turning to senior rare book conservator Jody Beenk, she declared, “I think I have found my career.” 24. What is the “Texts in Transition” course intended to do? A. Teach literary writing. B. Train paper conservators. C. Observe ancient books. D. Explore the survival of old texts. 25. What is special about the Weissman Preservation Center? A. It mainly centers on repairable treasures. B. It relies on support from Harvard Library. C. It houses the largest ancient book collection. D. It allows a thorough look at the preservation process. 26. What does the underlined word “reversed” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Changed back. B. Recreated. C. Turned over. D. Polished. 27. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. The course inspired career interest. B. New techniques were used in repairs. C. Texts were restored with special inks. D. Students improved photographic skills. D 25. D 26. A 27. 根据第二段“Students in “Texts in Transition,” a GenEd class taught by Professors Ann Blair and Leah Whittington, were visiting the Weissman Preservation Center to witness preservation firsthand. Their course explores how written works are passed down through time.(“Texts in Transition”是Ann Blair教授和Leah Whittington教授教授的一门通识教育课程,学生们正在参观Weissman保护中心,亲眼见证保护工作。 根据第三段“At the Weissman Preservation Center, students learn what happens behind the scenes when conservators step in to keep materials usable and preserve them for the future.(在Weissman保护中心,学生们了解到当保护者介入以保持材料可用并为其未来保存时,幕后发生了什么。)” 根据第四段““Any treatment we apply must not harm the object and can be restored,” explained Eliza, Senior Paper Conservator. “We always respect the integrity of the materials and only make changes that can be reversed, which is important in our conservation standards”(“我们采用的任何处理方法都不能损害文物本身,并且可以复原,” 高级纸张修复师伊莱扎解释道,“我们始终尊重材料的完整性,只做可reversed的改动,这在我们的保护标准中至关重要。”)” 故选A。 根据最后一段“One student, enthusiastic about her discoveries, set up her phone to photograph the scene. Turning to senior rare book conservator Jody Beenk, she declared, “I think I have found my career”.(一名学生对自己的发现充满热情,她拿起手机拍摄了这一幕。 A。 C Some people think they are immune to ads. They might not have heard of the mere exposure effect — a psychological phenomenon where we tend to like things the more we are exposed to them. When we plot the mere exposure effect on a graph with preferences on one axis (轴) and repetitions on the other, we will see that it takes about 15 repeats for the effect to reach its full potential. If the exposure is too excessive (过度), people get annoyed. And if they didn’t like the thing initially, repeating it can make it worse. There are two main explanations for the phenomenon. The first is certainty. Our minds naturally learn to be careful around new things that could potentially harm us. If we see something repeatedly without bad consequences, we are led to believe it is safe. The second is perceptual (知觉的) fluency. We are also hardwired to prefer simple things that take little mental load. Difficult tasks like figuring out something new take lots of attention and time, which is why we try to avoid them. Known for discovering the effect was psychologist Robert Zajonc, who tested how subjects responded to specific symbols. A group of people were shown a series of random shapes which changed so quickly that it was impossible to notice that some were repeated. When the subjects were asked which shapes they found most pleasing, they chose those to which they had been exposed the most often, even though they had no conscious awareness of that. The results showed that changes in preferences caused by repeated exposures depend not on any prior subjective and conscious evaluations of the stimulus but rather on results from the objective history of exposures alone. Now tell us what you think about ads. If mere exposure to them makes us like things we otherwise wouldn’t, should billboards (广告牌) be banned from the public area? 28. Which of the following graphs best illustrates the mere exposure effect? A. B. C. D. 29. According to Zajonc’s experiment, what drives changes in preferences? A. Random variation. B. Objective analysis. C. Subjective judgment. D. Subconscious familiarity. 30. Which activity shows the application of the mere exposure effect? A. A novelist organizes a book signing event. B. A game studio develops a challenging mode. C. A singer buys hot recommendations on a music app. D. A fashion brand reintroduces certain classic designs. 31. Why does the author mention ads at the end of the text? A. To criticize fake advertising. B. To oppose outdoor advertising. C. To point out the drawbacks of ads. D. To caution against the influence of ads. A 29. D 30. C 31. 根据第二段第一句“When we plot the mere exposure effect on a graph with preferences on one axis (轴) and repetitions on the other, we will see that it takes about 15 repeats for the effect to reach its full potential. If the exposure is too excessive (过度) , people get annoyed. And if they didn't like the thing initially, repeating it can make it worse.(当我们在一个以偏好为一个轴,重复次数为另一个轴的图表上绘制单纯曝光效应时,我们会看到大约需要重复15次这种效应才能充分发挥作用。 故选A。 根据第四段“A group of people were shown a series of random shapes which changed so quickly that it was impossible to notice that some were repeated. When the subjects were asked which shapes they found most pleasing, they chose those to which they had been exposed the most often, even though they had no conscious awareness of that.(向一群人展示了一系列随机的形状,这些形状变化得非常快,以至于人们不可能注意到有些形状是重复的。 以及第五段“The results showed that changes in preferences caused by repeated exposures depend not on any prior subjective and conscious evaluations of the stimulus but rather on results from the objective history of exposures alone.(结果表明,由重复曝光引起的偏好变化并不取决于对刺激的任何先前的主观和有意识的评估,而仅仅取决于客观的曝光历史结果。)” 根据文章第一段“They might not have heard of the mere exposure effect—a psychological phenomenon where we tend to like things the more we are exposed to them.(他们可能没有听说过纯粹的暴露效应,这是一种心理现象,我们接触的东西越多,就越喜欢。)” 根据最后一段“Now tell us what you think about ads. If mere exposure to them makes us like things we otherwise wouldn't, should billboards (广告牌) be banned from the public area?(现在告诉我们你对广告的看法。 D Hydrogen fuel-cell (氢燃料电池) vehicles aren’t just sources for science fiction or far-out experiments. Cars fueled by hydrogen, like the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo, are already here, and hydrogen fuel-cell technology is actively evolving and benefiting from billions of dollars in federal research. So then, why are hydrogen cars virtually non-existent on U.S. roads today? “The answer is simple: economics,” Sergey Paltsev, a senior scientist at the MIT Energy Initiative told Popular Science. Politicians and automakers once advocated the fuel cell, which turns the chemical energy of hydrogen into electricity to drive an electric motor, as the future of passenger automobiles, but the falling cost of batteries and a large number of electrical fuelling infrastructure (基础设施) have propelled battery-electric cars well into the lead. A big switch to hydrogen cars would require cost-cutting and enormous infrastructure development. The Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center shows 55 public hydrogen fuelling station locations in the U.S. today, almost only in California, while more than 68,000 active public electric vehicle charging stations across the country. “Nothing is going to change next year, or probably not in the next five years, but there are brighter pathways for hydrogen vehicles,” said Paltsev. It turns out that hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles have advantageous applications in medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks and aviation (航空). Besides, battery-electric vehicles can be problematic when you have problems with range or fuelling time or heavy loads. The current impractical application of hydrogen passenger vehicles in places like the U.S. are not a reason to “just give up” on hydrogen fuel-cell tech. “We may need it for many other reasons in the future,” cautioned Paltsev, citing geopolitical issues as a factor that could disrupt access to raw materials for batteries, thus making hydrogen cars suddenly more economically workable. 32. Why are hydrogen cars not commonly seen on U.S. roads today? A. Lack of public awareness. B. Unavailability of hydrogen fuel. C. Limited research and development. D. High costs and insufficient infrastructure. 33. What is Sergey Paltsev’s attitude towards hydrogen vehicles in the future? A. Doubtful. B. Hopeful. C. Pessimistic. D. Indifferent. 34. What can be learned about hydrogen fuel-cell tech from the passage? A. It is already cost-effective for passenger vehicles. B. It fails to solve the problems with range or fuelling time. C. It is practicable due to potential issues resulting from geopolitics. D. It has unsatisfactory applications in heavy-duty trucks and aviation. 35. What would be the best title for this passage? A. Battery-Electric Vehicles: A Glorious Era B. Why Are We Driving Electric Powered Cars? C. Hydrogen Vehicles: Struggling Yet Promising D. How to Build a Public Hydrogen Fuelling Station? D 33. B 34. C 35. 根据第三段“A big switch to hydrogen cars would require cost-cutting and enormous infrastructure development.(想要大规模普及氢燃料汽车,既要降低成本,还需投入巨额资金完善配套基础设施。)” 根据第四段““Nothing is going to change next year, or probably not in the next five years, but there are brighter pathways for hydrogen vehicles,” said Paltsev.(“明年不会有任何改变,或者至少在接下来的五年内不会,但氢能源汽车的发展前景更加光明,”帕尔采夫说)”可知,谢尔盖·帕尔采夫对未来氢能源汽车充满希望。 根据最后一段“The current impractical application of hydrogen passenger vehicles in places like the U.S. are not a reason to “just give up” on hydrogen fuel-cell tech. “We may need it for many other reasons in the future,” cautioned Paltsev, citing geopolitical issues as a factor that could disrupt access to raw materials for batteries, thus making hydrogen cars suddenly more economically workable. 根据第一段“Hydrogen fuel-cell (氢燃料电池) vehicles aren’t just sources for science fiction or far-out experiments. Cars fueled by hydrogen, like the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo, are already here, and hydrogen fuel-cell technology is actively evolving and benefiting from billions of dollars in federal research. So then, why are hydrogen cars virtually non-existent on U.S. roads today?( 氢燃料电池汽车不仅仅是科幻小说或离奇实验的产物。 It’s a joyful and stressful time of year in the United States for students and their families as they make decisions about where to attend college. Families often turn to rankings systems to help make a decision. ____36____ When I talk to families as a scholar of higher education, they’re often surprised that teaching excellence is not counted in rankings. ____37____ Emerging research suggests that courses in lower-ranked universities, on average, scored higher on teaching than courses in higher-ranked universities. ____38____ The absence of teaching excellence from the rankings is surprising given the link between high-quality teaching and student success. Quality teaching is one of the most important predictors of a wide range of college outcomes. Rankings, however, are only one reason why a low value is placed on teaching in higher education. Administrators often don’t view teaching excellence as a way to increase enrolment (注册) or funding. ____39____ Research shows that the more time instructors spend on teaching, the lower their salary. What is the result? Many instructors continue to teach using traditional lectures, which lead to lower success rates. ____40____ Nevertheless, not much will change until schools with high-quality teaching are rewarded with more resources, higher rankings and increased enrolments. In the long term, universities, organisations that rank schools, and others should work to make teaching a valued, core part of the mission. What should students and their families do? They should give strong consideration to universities where high-quality teaching is valued, even though the schools may be ranked lower. A. Higher education has achieved its true potential. B. Therefore, it’s not highly valued in hiring or promotion. C. Quality teaching has been an important reputation-building factor. D. However, the rankings ignore a critical factor: the quality of teaching. E. Efforts to improve teaching at the university level have recently emerged. F. They’re even more surprised at how teaching is undervalued by universities. G. In fact, universities often shift emphasis from teaching to other ranking factors. D 37. F 38. G 39. B 40. 【36题详解】 根据空前内容“It’s a joyful and stressful time of year in the United States for students and their families as they make decisions about where to attend college. Families often turn to rankings systems to help make a decision.(对于美国的学生和他们的家人来说,这是一年中既快乐又紧张的时刻,因为他们要决定去哪里上大学。 而根据下文第三段“Emerging research suggests that courses in lower-ranked universities, on average, scored higher on teaching than courses in higher-ranked universities. D“However, the rankings ignore a critical factor: the quality of teaching.(然而,排名忽略了一个关键因素:教学质量。)” 【37题详解】 根据空前内容“When I talk to families as a scholar of higher education, they’re often surprised that teaching excellence is not counted in rankings.(作为一名研究高等教育的学者,当我与一些家庭交谈时,他们常常惊讶地发现,优秀的教学水平并没有被纳入排名。)” F“They’re even more surprised at how teaching is undervalued by universities.(更让他们惊讶的是,大学竟然低估了教学的价值。)” 【38题详解】 空前内容“Emerging research suggests that courses in lower-ranked universities, on average, scored higher on teaching than courses in higher-ranked universities.(最新的研究表明,排名较低的大学的课程在教学方面的平均得分高于排名较高的大学的课程。)”以及空后内容“The absence of teaching excellence from the rankings is surprising given the link between high-quality teaching and student success. Quality teaching is one of the most important predictors of a wide range of college outcomes.(考虑到高质量教学与学生成功之间的联系,排名中没有优秀教学令人惊讶。 G“In fact, universities often shift emphasis from teaching to other ranking factors.(事实上,大学经常把重点从教学转移到其他排名因素上。)” 【39题详解】 根据空前内容“Rankings, however, are only one reason why a low value is placed on teaching in higher education. Administrators often don’t view teaching excellence as a way to increase enrolment (注册) or funding.(然而,排名只是高等教育中对教学重视程度较低的一个原因。 B“Therefore, it’s not highly valued in hiring or promotion.(因此,它在招聘或晋升中不受重视。)” 【40题详解】 根据下文内容“Nevertheless, not much will change until schools with high-quality teaching are rewarded with more resources, higher rankings and increased enrolments. In the long term, universities, organisations that rank schools, and others should work to make teaching a valued, core part of the mission.(尽管如此,在拥有高质量教学的学校获得更多资源、更高排名和增加入学人数之前,不会有太大变化。 E“Efforts to improve teaching at the university level have recently emerged.(在最近,努力改进教学水平的现象已经出现了。)” Sam Dutcher, an 18-year-old student, was driving his mother’s Honda SUV when it suddenly sped up without warning. Her shoes stepped on wood shavings (刨花) that sparkled in the sunlight. Through the dusty windows, the morning light shone on Grandfather’s rough hands. He was gluing a maple chair leg. The wall calendar still showed January. Its yellowed pages were curling, just like dry leaves. An open order book lay on the desk. February’s page was empty. There had been no new orders since mid-January. Clara held her breath and recorded Grandfather with her phone. She focused on his quick hands as he measured angles with a metal ruler. “This might help him,” she thought, eager to show how skilled he was. However, when she posted the video online, negative comments flooded in. “Old ways for a dying business!” “No wonder the business is failing!” Saddened, Clara deleted the video quickly. A spider crawled over the empty order book. Its blank pages showed not many people wanted handmade things these days. “Want to see my treasure?” Grandpa’ s voice broke the silence. He opened a leather album filled with pencil sketches (草图) like library chairs from 1958 and park benches from 1962. A faded photo slipped out: a smiling boy missing two teeth was grinning at the camera, holding a curved (弯曲的) spoon proudly. “Timmy, my former student,” Grandfather smiled, touching the curve of the spoon in the photo. “Now he designs furniture for tall buildings. Last month’s newspaper had an article about his curved stairs. It was inspired by this very spoon.” He tapped the photo, adding, “Machines make things fast, but hands remember stories.” Clara looked at the photo — the curved spoon, Timmy’s smile, and Grandpa’s young handwriting on the back: Timmy’s first repair, age 7. Beside her, fresh wood shavings were shining. “Stories must be told,” Clara murmured, taking out her phone again. This time, she aimed to share not just the work, but the story behind it. Paragraph 1: The next morning, Clara uploaded a new video. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: A week later, Timmy, now a famous furniture designer, walked in the workshop. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】The next morning, Clara uploaded a new video. This time, her camera swept across the leather album’s sketches of Timmy’s curved spoon and lingered on a yellowed newspaper clipping featuring his iconic stairs. As Grandfather narrated their story, she zoomed in on his hands — wrinkled yet steady — shaping a piece of wood into art. The video ended with his voice, “Hands remember stories machines forget.” By noon, comments exploded, “Hands of a legend!” “Need this magic in my home!” Shares of the video skyrocketed. Amid the flood of praise, Clara spotted a message, “I’m coming to see you soon, Master-back to where the magic began!” Her eyes widened at Timmy’s profile picture which just matched the same grin from that faded photo. A week later, Timmy, now a famous furniture designer, walked in the workshop. He embraced Grandfather, tears glistening. “Your spoon taught me curves have souls,” he said, placing the curved spoon on the desk. Together, they designed a signature chair — Timmy sketching modern lines on his tablet while Grandfather penciling his classic curves. Clara captured the moment: their four hands shaping a maple chair leg together, mirroring the one Grandfather had glued a week before. When Timmy posted the video, orders poured in: new chairs with curved legs, and even wooden benches for the town park. Wood shavings danced in the sunlight as the workshop came back to life, the order book’s empty February page now filled with March’s growing demands. 3.词汇激活 行为类 ①发现:spot/find ②放置:place/put ③拥抱:embrace/hug ④开始:begin/start 情绪类 赞扬:praise/compliment 【点睛】[高分句型1] Her eyes widened at Timmy’s profile picture which just matched the same grin from that faded photo. A. Ordinary family scenes. B. The process of weaving. C. South African cultural themes. D. Patterns of light and shadow. 22. Which exhibition features sculptures? A. The Space Between. B. All Fall Down. C. Figure in the Field. D. Kaleidoscope. 23. What can best describe the four exhibitions? A. Three-dimensional. B. Conventional. C. Interactive. D. Experimental. B Sent through the washing. C Some people think they are immune to ads. D Hydrogen fuel-cell (氢燃料电池) vehicles aren’t just sources for science fiction or far-out experiments. It’s a joyful and stressful time of year in the United States for students and their families as they make decisions about where to attend college. Sam Dutcher, an 18-year-old student, was driving his mother’s Honda SUV when it suddenly sped up without warning. Clara walked in quietly. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $这是2025至2026学年福州市高三年级三月质量检测英语学科听力考试部分,该部分分为第一第二两节。 I can't . find brave new world inside.
