The farm is in the south of our school, next to the playground. Each class has a small piece of land. At first, we knew little about farming. To help us, our headteacher invited a local farmer to teach us planting skills. We learned how to prepare the land, water the plants, and protect them properly. Last spring, we picked lots of apples and strawberries and sold them at the school market. We used the money to help the students in need. This year, we plan to grow some carrots and watermelons. On the farm, we usually work in teams. It’s an outdoor classroom where we learn about nature and work together. Hope you can come and visit our school farm. Thank you.

Anna disliked rainy days. Whenever the rain began to fall, she felt bored and restless. “I can’t play outside,” she said to herself. “I can’t ride my bike. Rainy days are the worst.”
One Saturday afternoon, the rain started again. Anna sat by the window, feeling unhappy. Her mother noticed her and smiled. “Anna, come with me,” she said softly.
Mother took Anna to the balcony (阳台). The rain was falling gently, and the air smelled fresh and clean. “Close your eyes,” Mother said. “Listen carefully to the rain. What do you hear?” Anna closed her eyes. She heard the soft pitter-patter of raindrops on the leaves. She heard the birds singing quietly in the open air. She felt the cool air on her face. Slowly, a smile came on her face.
“It sounds like music,” Anna said.
Mother handed her a warm cup of hot chocolate. They sat together on the balcony, watching the raindrops sparkle like little diamonds. The gray sky no longer looked sad. It looked peaceful and quiet.
“You see, Anna,” Mother said. “When we stop waiting for a better time, we can find joy right here, right now. This rainy afternoon is a gift.”
Anna took a bit of her hot chocolate. It was warm and sweet. She felt happy — not because the rain had stopped, but because she had learned to enjoy the present moment.

Pallas’s cats (兔狲) are rare wild animals. They live in Central Asia and parts of China. In China, they are under national protection (保护). They look like soft, fat house cats, but they are very different. They are easily scared and shy. They do not like to get close to people. If we meet wild animals, we should stay quiet and keep away.
Recently, a herder (牧人) in Xinjiang found a mother Pallas’s cat and her babies in his house. The mother cat looked tired but stayed close to her babies. The herder did not touch them. He quickly called the police for help. Next time, he can also ask other people for help.

The police came and saw the little family. They decided not to move the cats. Never touch or feed them. Instead, they put hidden cameras to watch the babies grow. They also kept the place quiet and safe. No one went near the house. After 40 days, the mother and her babies got stronger. Finally, they went back to the wild.
In Inner Mongolia, people also found five healthy Pallas’s cat babies. Their mother was out hunting for food nearby. People did not feed the babies. They just kept a close eye on them from far away.

B. The babies could find food by themselves.
C. The babies were too young to eat anything.
D. The mother cat might come back for her babies.
26. What does the writer think of letting wild animals grow naturally?
A. We can take them home and keep them as pets.

C. We may move them to a zoo for better care.

①Students in England might soon say goodbye to some of their favorite school lunches. The British government (政府) has a new plan to make school meals much healthier. They want to stop schools from serving “grab-and-go” foods every day. These foods are pizza, sausage rolls, and other fast snacks.
②So what will take their place? Fresh fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. The school will restrict sugary foods like cakes and ice cream to only once a week.
③The Department for Education (教育部门) says these changes are important to improve children’s health. Many people agree with the plan. They believe it should have started years ago. Prime Minister (首相) Keir Starmer also agrees. He thinks schools can give students these healthier meals without spending more money than they already have.
④Certainly, not everyone is happy. Some headteachers (校长) are worried. Fresh food often costs more than simple snacks. They are afraid that without more money from the government, they might have to give students less food. Others think the plan will give more problems to schools that have less money.
⑤The government decided to listen to different ideas. They will spend nine weeks talking to schools, parents, and experts. After that, they will make a final decision.
⑥Would you like to see it in your school? Some students may miss pizza, but eating more fruits and vegetables can help everyone grow strong and stay healthy.
27. What should schools in the UK give more to students?
A. Fruit. B. Cakes. C. Pizza. D. Snacks.
28. What does the underlined word “restrict” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. put up B. hold on C. cut down D. look for

A. The government decided on the new plan.
B. Headteachers in the UK are happy with the new plan.
C. The new plan may bring some problems to schools.
D. Students in England can have more food for lunch.
30. What is the main purpose (目的) of the passage?
A. To ask for more money to schools. B. To call on students to eat healthily.
C. To tell students never to eat pizza. D. To wish parents to cook food for kids.
