Do you love snacks? Well, who doesn’t? Eating healthy snacks at the right time can fill up your energy tank and give your body with important nutrients (营养物). Here is some advice on how to snack wisely.
Timing is key. Having snacks between meals gives us energy. But eating them just before a big meal, may not be a good idea. And even if you choose light snacks, it’s best not to eat too often in a day.
Smart snack choices are important, too. When you are thirsty, drink water or clear soup, not sweet drinks. If you feel a little hungry, choose healthy foods like corn, sandwiches and dried fruits without sugar. Foods rich like seaweed (海苔) and eggs are also good for your body.
Some snacks taste great but aren’t good for your health. Try not to have those with a lot of sugar like candy, ice cream and fruit juice. These foods will be bad for your teeth and make you put on weight. Also, stay away from salty and fatty foods like French fries, onion rings and potato chips. Eating too much of these can get health problems like high blood pressure and heart disease.
Next time you want to enjoy a snack, keep the advice in mind. Healthy eating today makes a happier tomorrow, even with snacking!

While reading an art magazine, I learned about Su Hanchen. He was a painter and was good at drawing children. One of his best-known paintings is Children at Play in an Autumn Garden《秋庭戏婴图》. The boy and the girl in the painting were in high spirits in their new game: spinning tops (陀螺游戏). A few hundred years passed, but I could still hear them laughing.
Looking at the two kids, I remembered my own childhood (童年). That was about thirty years ago. Computers and smartphones didn’t come into people’s lives. We just had a lot of fun playing outdoors. Girls loved to skip rubber bands (跳橡皮筋). We boys were excited about some toy cars. We raced against each other to see whose car ran the most quickly. Often, we enjoyed ourselves so much that we wouldn’t stop!
How do you usually play? Would you like some more playtime away from screens? If so, why not ask your parents to teach you some of their childhood games? Or, maybe you’d like to try out the game of spinning tops. Look it up on a video online to find out how to make the toy. When you finish it, learn from the videos and play it with your friends. It’s an easy game, if you don’t lose its balance, you’ll have lots of fun!
12. How does the writer start the article?
A. By singing a song. B. By explaining the rules of a game.
C. By talking about a painting. D. By telling something about his life.

A. Because they had no homework to do. B. Because they had a great time together.

Think about swimming across the English Channel (英吉利海峡). It would be difficult for anyone, right? But Melanie Barratt did it—and she is blind!

Try not to have those with a lot of sugar, like candy, ice cream and fruit juice.
8. According to the passage, when is the best time to have snacks?
A. Between meals. B. When you feel hungry.
C. Only in the morning. D. Just after a big meal.
9. Which of the following is a smart snack choice?

10. What does Paragraph 4 mainly (主要) talk about?
A. How to make delicious snacks at home. B. How snacks can help you study better.
C. Why fruit juice is good for our health. D. Why some delicious snacks can be unhealthy.
11. In which part of a newspaper may you read this passage?
A. Sports News B. Healthy Life C. Animal World D. Movie posts
D
13. Why wouldn’t the children stop playing in Paragraph 2?
A. Because they had no homework to do. B. Because they had a great time together.
C. Because parents asked them to stay outside. D. Because they wanted to make friends.
14 What’s the writer’s advice about how to play “spinning tops”?
A. Watching a video online. B. Asking friends to teach you.
C. Buying a toy from the store. D. Reading books about games.
15. Why does the writer write this article?
A. To talk about games in the school. B. To tell us the importance of drawing.
C. To encourage us to watch TV less. D. To ask kids to play outside more.
