Airborne Microplastics Speed Up Global Warming
Microplastics(微塑料,直径小于 5 毫米塑料微粒)exist widely in soil, water and even human bodies. New research finds these tiny floating plastic particles in the air also speed up global warming. Published in Nature Climate Change, the study points out airborne colored microplastics create heating effects equal to 16% of those caused by black carbon(煤烟). People usually believe aging means continuous physical and mental decline. However, new research from Yale University offers a totally different opinion. Based on more than 12 years’ data tracking American seniors, scientists found nearly half of people aged 65 and above made progress in mental ability, physical condition, or both.
The improvement is closely related to people’s attitudes toward aging. Becca Levy, the lead researcher, points out that most people hold a fixed stereotype that aging must bring unavoidable decline.
