This spring, “Come to Minqin and plant a tree” became a hot activity online. Minqin is between China’s third and fourth largest deserts in Gansu. By May 5th, 2026, more than 50,000 people had signed up online for the activity and over 46,000 volunteers across China had joined in the tree planting. Zhao Yu, an office worker from Beijing, was one of them.
Zhao Yu went there because she was moved by Zhong Lin, the starter of the activity. Zhong returned to his hometown to fight against desertification (沙漠化) in Minqin and called on more people to join him. At first, Zhao thought planting trees was easy. But soon she found it was hard. Often, one hole needed a few people to dig together because sand kept falling back quickly. The volunteers had to work in groups. Some carried trees, some dug deep holes, and some watered the trees. Zhao’s group had 8 people and planted about 100 trees in a few days.
What moved Zhao most was not the hard work, but how the young volunteers worked as a team. Most of them were around 20 years old and never joined in any environmental activities before. But they all learned how to plant trees carefully. Deserts can never turn into green land themselves, but a team with one heart always does.
After returning to Beijing, Zhao made a video (视频) to draw more people to plant trees in Minqin. Zhao said, “I thought environmental protection had nothing to do with me. But now I know every small action (行动) matters. If all of us work together, we can build a greener world.”

Long before, humans ate as much as possible to keep their lives. But today, food is easy to get. We eat too much. And we are also “overeating” digital (数字的) fun.
Social media (社交媒体) is made to keep us playing and feeds us endless videos. Many young people spend all their free time on digital games, and even give up sleep. But what shocks me is no one looks truly happy. They may feel excited for a little while—the kick of winning. But once the game is over, the short-lived excitement goes and nothing meaningful stays.
In fact, too much digital fun can bring you down. When you spend too much time on social media, your brain (大脑) is full of dopamine (多巴胺). Over time, your brain will become not so active to experience happiness. So, small happy things, like reading a book or taking a walk outside, no longer make you feel anything at all. It means you need even more digital fun to feel the same excitement.
Now contrast (对比) that with the good feeling from working hard, such as growing a plant, running faster than your best time in a 100-meter race and learning to play a song on the guitar. These activities take time and you need to keep trying, but they give you a deep sense of achievement (成就感). They also help improve your feelings and develop your inner drive.
So next time you have an hour free, put down your phone, and spend it experiencing the true and lasting happiness around you, not on digital fun.
36. How do young people feel when they spend all free time on digital games?
A. They feel tired and sleepy. B. They feel happy and shocked.
C. They feel excited for a little while. D. They feel truly happy for hours.
37. What does the underlined word “that” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A. The great fun of reading a book. B. The little happiness of taking a walk.
C. The short-lived excitement from digital fun. D. The sense of achievement from winning a race.
38. According to (根据) the text, what kind of activity may the writer suggest?
A. Giving up sleep. B. Learning to play a song.
C. Eating much food. D. Watching endless videos.
39. What can we learn from the text?
A. Dopamine develops our inner drive.
B. Playing digital games improves our feelings.
C. Social media helps our brain become more active.
D. Working hard gives us a deep sense of achievement.
40. What is the main purpose of this passage?
A. To talk about the problems of overeating. B. To teach how to play digital games better.
C. To warn about the problems of digital fun. D. To show how dopamine works in the brain.
C 37. C 38. B 39. D 40. C

The spinal cord is a group of nerves (神经). It works like a telephone line, carrying information between your brain and your body. When you want to move your legs, your brain sends (发送) the order down the spinal cord, and your legs move.
But what happens when this “telephone line” breaks? That is the problem for people with spinal cord injury. Their brains still want to move, but the information cannot get through. Take a young man named Zhiming as an example. After a bad accident, he could not stand or walk for five long years.
To solve the problem, Chinese scientists have developed the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI, 脑机接口). The BCI is like a new bridge between the broken spinal cord and the brain. A small chip is placed on the brain and it “listens” to the brain. When a person thinks about moving, the chip gets that idea. Then a computer decodes what the brain wants to do and sends orders to the SCS system (脊髓电刺激系统) on the spinal cord. This makes some of the nerves work again.
After one year of training, Zhiming can stand up and walk with help. He can even do some housework. This is not a wonder. It is science.
In the coming years, scientists hope to help millions of patients (病人) walk again with BCI. Their dream is not big but meaningful — to let patients become the masters (主人) of their own bodies again.
41. What happens when the spinal cord gets hurt?
A. The legs can’t move. B. The brain stops working.
C. The legs don’t need orders. D. The brain sends wrong orders.
42. How does the BCI work?
A. It listens to the spinal cord. B. It bridges the brain and the spinal cord.
C. It helps the spinal cord grow again. D. It sends orders from the legs to the brain.
43. What does the underlined word “decodes” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Repairs. B. Changes. C. Practices. D. Understands.
44. Which would be the best title for the text?
A. Walking Again with BCI B. Turning the Brain into a Chip
C. Rebuilding Brain with BCI D. Listening to the Brain’s Thoughts
45. How does the writer develop the text?
A. Setting→Story→Feeling B. Question→Fact→Opinion
C. Problem→Solution→Hope D. Cause→Effect→Suggestion
41. A 42. B 43. D 44. A 45. C

C“Here are some tips for you.”(这里有一些给你的建议)起到承上启下的作用,符合逻辑。
D“Ask yourself: Can I do something about it?”(问自己:我能为此做些什么吗?)
E“This way of thinking can make you feel better.”(这种思维方式能让你感觉更好)与上文形成因果关系,符合逻辑。

51. A: _______________
B: Good morning.
Good morning.

B: Two.

54. A: ________ last weekend?
B: I made a cake for my father.
What did you do
【详解】根据答语“I made a cake for my father.” 故填What did you do。
55. A: Excuse me, ________ the supermarket?
B: Go straight and turn right. You’ll see it on your left.
how can I get to

31. How many volunteers had joined in the tree planting by May 5th, 2026?
A. About 8. B. About 100. C. Over 46,000. D. Over 50,000.
32. Why did Zhao Yu go to Minqin?
A. Because she was moved by Zhong Lin.
B. Because she hoped to learn to plant trees.
C. Because she worked as an office worker there.
D. Because she wanted to return to her hometown.
33. What moved Zhao Yu most during the activity?
A. The age of the volunteers. B. The number of trees they planted.
C. The difficulty of digging holes. D. The teamwork of young volunteers.
34. What did Zhao Yu do after returning to Beijing?
A. She learned to protect green land. B. She volunteered to plant more trees.
C. She started an environmental activity. D. She made a video to call on more people.
35. What does the story mainly tell us?
A. Every dog has its day. B. One player doesn’t make a team.
C. Never too old to learn. D. A good beginning makes a good ending.
C
D
