①Teaching children to help others is one of the most valuable lessons. Why?
②Encouraging children to help others can make them kind and empathetic So they are good at understanding and cooperating with others. As a result, they are more likely to build stronger and more meaningful relationships. When children help others, they can also develop a sense of achievement and responsibility. This encourages them to be helpful.
③There are many ways to get children to practise kindness. They can start learning to help at home by doing chores. For example, after finishing the meal, they can be asked to help clean up the table. It teaches them that being part of a family means sharing responsibilities.
④Schools also provide children with the chance to help their peers in various ways. They can help by sharing stationery (文具), offering learning support, or simply by inviting a classmate to join in a game. The acts of kindness help them build friendships.
⑤What’s more, it is necessary to teach children to care for the environment. Encourage them to do little things, such as picking up plastic bottles in parks, planting trees, or saving water. And tell them that they can also help by spreading ideas on green living. For example, they can start a conversation about reducing waste with their friends.
⑥In short, when children learn to help, they first become better people themselves. Then, through their actions, they can make the whole world a better place.
33. What is the second paragraph mainly about?
A. What children can gain from helping others.
B. How children learn to cooperate with others.
C. Why it is necessary to build good relationships.
D. Where children can practise kindness in everyday life.
34. Why does the writer suggest children first learn to help with chores?
A. They can improve their life skills by doing chores.
B. They will feel a strong sense of achievement.
C. It teaches them to be helpful and responsible.
D. It is a good way to make their parents happy.
35. What does the underlined word “various” most probably mean?

Do you often feel sleepy in spring? Don’t worry. You are not alone. The feeling is called “spring fever (春困)”. It may be caused by warmer temperatures. But it can bring many illnesses. How can we avoid it? Here is some advice.
To keep awake, we should eat more vegetables and fruit. They are helpful for our health.
Make sure fresh air flows in our office and bedroom. Bad air is bad for us. Also, be close to nature to get more fresh air.
Try to have a cup of water next to us. Drinking enough water can help fight spring fever.
Eight hours of sleep per day is usually enough for adults. Too much sleep may reduce activity in our brain. So we should get the right amount of sleep.

Turpan, in the east of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is known as one of the hottest areas in the world. The desert sand can reach 80°C in midsummer, enough to cook an egg on the desert sand. Rainfall is only 16 mm a year, making it one of the driest places in China. How do people survive in such a terrible climate? The secret lies in the ancient karez system.
The karez system in Turpan includes more than 1,000 wells. These wells appear every 20 — 30 metres, with some reaching 100 metres deep. Water from the mountains falls into the wells and then runs underground in the canals, keeping it cool and safe. The system is nearly as long as the Yellow River! Thanks to the karez system, people can grow plants for food in this difficult environment.

原文最后一段“More and more young people are taking action to protect it”明确提到“越来越多年轻人正采取行动保护它”,和B选项表述完全一致。
Dialogue 1
A: Look at that man! It ___54___ be hard for him to carry all the boxes!
B: Let’s give him a hand.
Dialogue 2
A: That woman looks lost. She ___55___ need help.
B: Yes. We ___56___ go and ask her.
Dialogue 3
A: Is that Lily over there?
B: It ___57___ be her. She has the flu and has to stay at home.
A: That’s too bad. The lesson today is really important.
B: Don’t worry. We ___58___ share our notes with her.
54. must
55. may 56. can
57. can’t 58. can
A问远处的人是否是Lily,B回答说“She has the flu and has to stay at home.”,这是明确的否定依据。

Everyone worries. But how do you deal with your worries? Whether your worries are big or small, you can take these three steps to deal with your worries: Try to find out what you’re worried about. Sometimes, you may know what you’re worried about. Other times, you may not. Try to find it out first; if you can’t, you can ask for help.
Think of ways to make things better. There is always something you can do to help feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won’t solve your problem. Grades at school are often top worries for kids. If you’re worried about grades, ask yourself these questions: Why are grades important? What do grades mean to me? How do I get ready for class? Do I go over my notes even when there isn’t a test? Do I have a good place to do my homework? Have I tried different ways of studying?
If your worry is about a fight you had with a friend, you may write down all the things you can do—write a note to him or her, invite him or her to a basketball game, say sorry to him or her, etc. Once you have a list of the things you can do, you can choose the one that gets your friend back.
Ask for help.
When you’re worried, it is helpful to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends or teachers for help.

72. 文中提到的化解烦恼的共同建议是:_____________________(不超过 5 词)
69. We can take three steps to deal with our worries.
70. ①. Find out your worries. ②. Ask others for help.
71. Ask yourself some useful questions.
72. Talk to someone
73. Face worries bravely
文章第一段明确提到“Whether your worries are big or small, you can take these three steps to deal with your worries.”,直接提取关键信息回答如何处理烦恼。
从文中“Try to find out what you’re worried about.”可总结出第一步是找出担忧;从“When you’re worried, it is helpful to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends or teachers for help.”
第二段提到“If you're worried about grades, ask yourself these questions...”,所以对于担心成绩这个烦恼,给出的建议是对成绩相关问题问问自己,提取关键信息作答。
文章多处强调当担忧时找个人交谈,如“When you’re worried, it is helpful to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends or teachers for help.”,所以化解烦恼的共同建议是和某人交谈。

A group of volunteers from both sides of the Taiwan Strait (海峡) is using AI to help families find their missing loved ones.
The AI Baby volunteer team was set up by Sheng Jianzhong, a student of computer picture processing (处理) from Wuhan. He started the project in 2020 after noticing blurry (模糊的) photos of missing children on TV. He saw the need for clearer photos and brought together a team of students to work on this problem. After six months, the team created an AI program that can make blurry photos clear and easy to see. These AI pictures are then shared both online and offline to help families find their missing family members.
This program helps a lot. The team has already helped find 19 missing children who were taken away from their homes. They have also brought hope to over 1,000 other families by fixing their old photos. One of their biggest successes of this team was finding Sun Zhuo, who lost in 2007.The only clue (线索) was a blurry picture of the criminal from a camera. The AI team helped the police find the criminal, which helped the father find his son in 2021.
The team’s influence was also felt across the Strait. Chang Shao-lin, a volunteer from Taiwan, joined the team because he found his relatives on the mainland (大陆) through the technology. To help stop lifelong regrets, he now actively introduces this AI technology to people in Taiwan, hoping to end their years of waiting.
This volunteer team not only helps people find their way back home, but also warms hearts and connects people across the Strait. They show how AI can be a powerful tool for spreading love and hope.

“What is that?”
“It looks like a fossil (化石).”
“It looks part-human.”
“It can’t be...”
The words “animal” and “human” were discussed by the archaeologists
“What if it’s neither human nor animal? What if it’s something we haven’t discovered yet?” I said.
There was silence.
Paul said, “I think you might be right, Jack. It isn’t an animal we know of. It’s not human. What else could it be?”
The other scientists headed back to their computers to begin researching.
Paul and I continued to look at the fossil closely. It seemed that the creature was smaller than a human, and could stand on two legs.
The next morning, I ran to the fossil. The fossil was different! Now it looked like a small bear.
“What happened?” I asked. Everyone had a puzzled look on their faces and no one had an answer.
When night fell, we set up a rotation (轮班) to make sure two of us were with the fossil at all times. All was quiet for my watch (值班) at midnight.
In the morning, I went to the fossil. It had changed again! This time it looked like a sheep. No one had seen or heard anything on their watch.
How and why did it keep changing? To this day, no one has found the answer to the changes.

To keep awake, we should eat more vegetables and fruit. They are helpful for our health.
Make sure fresh air flows in our office and bedroom. Bad air is bad for us. Also, be close to nature to get more fresh air.

Today, the area faces a water shortage, and lower rainfall is leading to an increase in water use. Although modern technology is solving some problems, the karez system still plays an important role. More and more young people are taking action to protect it, ensuring this centuries-old water system will be carried into the future.

A. 16 mm. B. 61 mm. C. 160 mm. D. 610 mm.
