Step 5
Production
1. Discuss and think the questions below.
• Why do we explore space? Is it just for pride?
No, it is not just for pride. Space exploration is important for many reasons.
For science and knowledge: We want to know more about our universe. By studying the moon and Mars, we can learn about the history of our solar system.
To improve our daily life: Many technologies we use every day—like GPS, better cameras, and special materials for clothes—come from space research.
For the future of humans: Earth has limited resources. Exploring space may help us find new energy or even a new home for humans one day.
For international teamwork: Space brings countries together. For example, China works with other countries in the Tiangong space station. We can achieve more when we work as a team.
1. Discuss and think the questions below.
• Why did China choose to land on the far side of the moon?
China chose the far side of the moon for two big reasons:
For better science: The far side of the moon always faces away from Earth. Because of this, it is much quieter and not polluted by Earth's radio signals. Scientists believe the soil there is older. By studying those samples, we can learn more about the early history of the moon and our solar system.
To show great technology: It is very difficult to land there. Since the far side faces away from Earth, we cannot send signals directly. We had to put a special satellite (called "Queqiao") in space to pass the messages. Landing there successfully proves that China has very strong space technology.
1. Discuss and think the questions below.
• If you become an astronaut, which space station (Tiangong) or planet (Mars) do you want to explore and WHY?
I want to explore the Tiangong space station.
Because I want to experience zero gravity! I would love to do biological experiments, like growing plants in space. Also, Tiangong is our home station. I would feel very proud to look back at our beautiful Earth through the window.
I want to explore Mars.
Because Mars is the most similar planet to Earth. I am very curious about the "red planet." I want to find out if there is water or any sign of life on Mars. If humans have to move to another planet in the future, Mars is the best choice. Exploring Mars would be a great adventure!
