Ⅰ.阅读理解 A (2026·辽宁大连一模)Rachel Wylde, 51, cares for her dad, Derek, and at times feels guilty going out for a run.“He used to read, draw and write a lot, but now he can't do any of those things. So, to go out and do something for myself can feel wrong at times. However, running is something I need to do.It's great for my mental health and wellbeing—even on a really bad day, a run can make me feel better,” said Rachel. Sometimes, when I feel too tired to do anything, it can seem like hard work to get out for a run, but I come back feeling energized.Finding time to run as a carer is difficult, though. When Dad first became ill, he was psychotic and suicidal and couldn't be left alone, for his own safety. My running stopped, and it was only when Dad was hospitalized that I was able to get out again. Thankfully, his psychosis has gone and he is mentally well, but he is now physically disabled and has lost all independence. He has carers during the day, which is a huge help, but I still do most things for him.I have to fit my life around his, which means some sacrifices when it comes to running. My long runs are done early in the morning, and shorter runs between visits. If I want to do a race on a weekend, I have to make sure family are around to be there for him. As a carer, pretty much everything falls on me and I feel responsible for someone else's life. This can feel like a huge weight on my shoulders— particularly when medical issues arise, as they frequently do.I have all that stress that no one else goes through, in addition to the daytoday things. On top of this, I feel responsible for making sure my dad is happy, because I don't want his psychosis to return. But as hard as it gets sometimes, I feel lucky and privileged to be able to spend so much time with him.Not many people get the opportunity to do that. Southern Middle School students and their science teacher, Jenna Borman, are working on a prototype desk that they hope to attach to the wheelchair of their classmate, Kenneth, who has a special disease and uses a laptop as his primary means of communication. “At present, the iPad is in a pretty heavy case and has a strap (带子) that goes around his neck and a handle on the back of it for him to hold. When he's seated, it kind of just lays in his lap. It's not very easy for him to use,” Borman said.“Kenneth always has to hold his iPad, and so this project is going to help him just set it there so his hands are free,” said Julia Baker to the social media, a student of this school. What started off as an engineering afterschool program has turned into an awardwinning idea. The students recently won a statewide Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) competition called “Solve for Tomorrow”, which came with $12, 000 worth of technology for the school. “We thought it was just an idea for Kenny, and then we won.So, it was like, wow,”said Avery Willet excitedly. “This whole project is really teaching us about how to work together and how we can help other people and not just us, ” added Everleigh Finnelle. “I learned how to work with others and a lot of teamwork so that we could make this project the best it could be, ” said Haley Brown. “There is still room for improvement. Our team is working on the prototype, making adjustments so it works perfectly for Kenny. We're really most looking forward to seeing him using it and all of our work into it,” Finnelle said. The final design is not due for the national competition until next month. 5.Why did the students come up with the idea of the prototype desk? A.To test what they've learnt in school. B.To join a national technology contest. C.To support a classmate's special need. D.To complete a group engineering project. C 6.How did the students find their winning of the STEM award? A.Satisfying. B.Surprising. C.Comforting. D.Convincing. 根据第五段“‘We thought it was just an idea for Kenny, and then we won.So, it was like, wow,’said Avery Willet excitedly.” B 7.What is Finnelle's attitude to the future of the prototype desk? B.A team won an award with a special design. C.A new invention will come onto the market. D.A program fuels students' passion for science. 答案 B C (2026·安徽合肥教学质量检测)Among world languages, English places perhaps the highest value on the expressions of thanks, especially in formal and business settings. So it's logical that English speakers tend to conflate the expression of thankfulness with the feeling of thankfulness. If somebody didn't say “thanks”, we often think, they must not have been very grateful. And yet, in English, “thank you” gets used so frequently that it can easily start to feel habitual. But do we say it as much as we think in our casual interactions with family and friends? A new research paper titled Universals and Cultural Diversity in the Expression of Thankfulness suggests that no, we do not. The research team behind the paper looked for expressions of thankfulness in daily informal interactions across eight languages:English, Italian, Polish, Russian, Lao, Cha' palaa, Murrinhpatha, and Siwu. The findings suggest the universal way in which thankfulness is expressed is not through giving thanks, but rather through participation in a social agreement in which mutual (相互的) assistance and working together are the norm.In fact, the practice of giving thanks seems to have little impact on the practice of mutual exchange. The practice of giving thanks also varies culturally. In India, for example, people—especially when they are your elders, relatives, or close friends—tend to feel that by thanking them, you're weakening your closeness with them and creating formality and distance that shouldn't exist! In contrast, in England, expressing thankfulness through words is seen as a positive strengthening of relationships, promoting goodwill and connection. Nick Enfield, lead researcher of the study, suggests that most of the 6,000 to 7,000 world languages don't have a word for “thank you”.“When we consider the negative effects of thanking close relations alongside the fact that many languages are spoken in very small communities where speakers are likely to know each other, that claim starts to feel quite reasonable.” 9.What does the underlined word “conflate” in paragraph 1 mean? A.Compare. B.Replace. C.Figure out. D.Mix up. 根据第一段第二句“So it's logical that English speakers tend to conflate the expression of thankfulness with the feeling of thankfulness.”以及下一句“If somebody didn't say ‘thanks’, we often think, they must not have been very grateful.” D 10.How do people express thankfulness universally according to the study? A.By saying thanks directly. B.By making social agreements. C.By using body language. D.By helping and cooperating. 根据第三段第二句“The findings suggest the universal way in which thankfulness is expressed is not through giving thanks, but rather through participation in a social agreement in which mutual (相互的) assistance and working together are the norm.” D 11.How do Indians view the practice of giving thanks to relatives? A.It weakens their bond. B.It reduces their social distance. C.It enhances their connection. D.It promotes their mutual trust. 根据第四段第二句“In India, for example, people—especially when they are your elders, relatives, or close friends—tend to feel that by thanking them, you're weakening your closeness with them and creating formality and distance that shouldn't exist!” 故选A。 答案 A 12.What does Nick Enfield imply in the last paragraph? A.Many cultures do not emphasize thankfulness. B.Thankfulness might not be expressed in words. C.Small communities prefer to thank close friends. D.The negative effects of thanking should be avoided. 七选五 (2026·黑龙江哈尔滨模拟) The Gift of a New Puppy Christmas is just around the corner. The idea of getting a new puppy for you or your family is at the top of many wish lists.Bringing a dog or puppy into your home should be considered a lifelong commitment. 13 ·Evaluate your home and lifestyle. It's important to evaluate your home and lifestyle.Do you live in an apartment or a house? Is there a yard? Do you need to build an enclosed area? 14 These are the questions you should think about when adding a new dog to your home. · 15 Think about what kind of free time you have available to care for a puppy.Do you work from home? It's crucial to think about whether your household members can come home throughout the day or whether you will need a dog walker. The first months of a dog's life are critical to its training and socialization. ·Assess your economic status. The cost of a new dog is more than its purchase price.Dog food and supply prices have been rising in recent years.Boarding and training services are also the things that your dog will need.Even if the dog stays relatively healthy throughout its lifespan, the cost of regular vet (兽医) care is significant. 16 ·Do your research. When it comes to getting a new puppy, “A Good Match” is necessary.Do the work and research to find the best type of dog to match a person or a family's lifestyle, to maximize success and minimize the chance of abandonment. 17 It is important to do your research, especially if there are any particular needs in your home, such as a child who has allergies.
