Tom has been suffering from eye pain lately. It started a month ago. His eyes were dry and he had sore eyes after playing phone games for some hours. Sometimes they even turned red, and he couldn’t see anything clearly. Once, he tried to read a storybook but had to stop because his eyes hurt badly, with tears rolling down his face.
His mum took him to see Dr Lee. The doctor checked his eyes carefully, shining a small light into them and asking him to follow its movement. “Staring at screens for too long does great harm,” Dr Lee said. “Your eyes are tired and dry. Do eye exercises every morning and evening. You need to press the acupoints (穴位) around your eyes gently, step by step. It really works.” He also advised, “You should have a 10-minute break each hour and you have to limit your game time to 20 minutes daily.”
After getting back, Tom made great changes. He did eye exercises seriously. Every morning and evening, he sat straight, closed his eyes, and pressed each acupoint for 10 seconds. He even asked his mum to check if his movements were right. During the break, he looked at the green trees outside to let his eyes relax.
Now, his eye pain is gone. He can focus in class and enjoy reading again. Tom knows protecting his eyes is a lifelong habit, and he’ll stick to it.

For middle school students, school life is often busy and stressful. We have to deal with a lot of homework every day, take different kinds of exams regularly, and attend various after-school classes. Many students spend most of their time studying hard and even give up their hobbies, completely forgetting to relax. However, relaxation is very beneficial for students’ study and health, and it should never be ignored.
First of all, relaxation helps students improve their study efficiency. When students are too stressed, their mind will become unclear, and they can’t focus on their study or remember knowledge well. Taking proper time to relax can make their mind clear and calm, helping them finish homework faster and learn new knowledge more easily. This is why many top students always know how to balance study and relaxation.
Secondly, relaxation is good for students’ physical health. Staying in front of the desk for a long time without any breaks can cause a lot of health problems, such as tiredness, headaches, eye strain and back pain. Taking a short break to do some light exercise, go for a walk or stretch our body can help us relax our muscles and relieve physical fatigue. It can also improve our sleep quality, so we can get enough rest at night and have more energy to study the next day.
Besides, relaxation helps students keep a good mood. Students often feel nervous and anxious because of heavy study tasks and important exams. These negative feelings not only affect their study, but also hurt their mental health. Proper relaxation can help them reduce these bad feelings, feel happy and confident, and learn to deal with difficulties bravely. Many students think that relaxation is a waste of time, but in fact, it’s a smart way to help them study better and stay healthy.
Students can find many simple ways to relax in their daily life, such as listening to soft music while doing homework, playing sports with friends after school, talking to parents or teachers when feeling stressed, or spending a little time enjoying nature on weekends. Balancing study and relaxation is the key to a happy and healthy school life, and it can help us grow better and achieve more in the future.
32. Why is relaxation important for students?
A. It slows homework speed. B. It increases stress.
C. It makes them forget homework. D. It improves study efficiency.
33. What does the underlined word “negative” (in Paragraph 4) mean?
A. bad and unpleasant B. good and positive
C. happy and excited D. calm and peaceful
34. We can infer that ______.
A. students should study all day B. relaxation is a waste of time
C. students can relax by listening to music D. relaxation can’t build confidence
35. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. Ways to Relax B. Importance of Study
C. How to Study Better D. Benefits of Relaxation for Students

In some parts of the world, children don’t have enough food to eat or enough money to buy clothes or shoes. Every year at Sunshine Middle School, we do something to raise money for these children. This year we will have Market Day.
Market Day will fall on July 8. We are going to make the student centre at our school look just like a big shopping centre! People can come at any time from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and buy everything from clothes to books, cakes and flowers.
Luckily for us, many volunteers will help prepare for the big event. Last year, Ms. Grant and Ms. Ali made some wonderful cakes for our charity event. They will do it again this year. Bill Thomas will visit Bookworm Bookshop and Mel’s Music Shop and ask them to give us things that we can sell at the event. Philip White will e-mail all the teachers and ask them to come to our event. Alice Brown will put a message online telling the public the event is open to everyone.
However, there is more to do, and we need your help. We want you to give us things that we can sell—anything that we can sell to raise money for poor children. We also need some student volunteers to sell the things on Market Day.

根据“Treat others as you want to be treated”可知,礼仪体现的是对他人的“尊重”,应用respect。

With your help, _____________________________________!

62.

63.
They made some wonderful cakes.
64.
Students need to give things that can be sold and volunteer to sell the things on Market Day.

第一段明确指出“Every year at Sunshine Middle School, we do something to raise money for these children. This year we will have Market Day.”,而前一句中“these children”指的就是“children don’t have enough food to eat or enough money to buy clothes or shoes”。
第二段开头“Market Day will fall on July 8. We are going to make the student centre at our school look just like a big shopping centre”提取时间地点。
第三段“Last year, Ms. Grant and Ms. Ali made some wonderful cakes for our charity event.”
第四段明确提出对学生的求助:“We want you to give us things that we can sell”(需要学生提供可出售的物品)和“We also need some student volunteers to sell the things on Market Day”(需要学生志愿者在义卖日售卖物品)。

Dear friends,
As the saying goes, “Books are the ladder of human progress.” Now I’m happy to share my favourite book with you.
My favourite book is The Little Prince. I have had it for two years. I got it as my 13th birthday gift from my mother. It tells a warm story about a little prince’s travels across different planets. I love it because its words are simple but full of warmth. From the book, I learn that we should cherish the people around us and keep a pure heart all the time. Every time I read it, I can get peace and strength.
