Ⅰ.阅读理解 A (2025·山东济南高三摸底)Are you an open book, your face broadcasting every passing emotion,or more of a poker face, not showing what you are feeling? Scientists at Nottingham Trent University say that wearing your heart on your face, could actually give you a significant social advantage. The study, led by Eithne Kavanagh,a research fellow at NTU's School of Social Sciences, involving over 1,300 participants, noticed striking variations in how much people moved their faces during conversations.Importantly, this expressiveness emerged as a stable individual quality.People displayed similar levels of facial expressiveness across different contexts, with different social partners, and even over time periods up to four months. The researchers say that facial expressiveness is linked to personality, with more agreeable individuals displaying more lively faces.Facial expressiveness can also translate into concrete social benefits. In a negotiation task, more expressive individuals are more likely to secure a larger slice of a reward. The researchers suggest that for agreeable folks, dynamic facial expressions may serve as a tool for building good relationships and smoothing over conflicts.Across the board, the results point to facial expressiveness serving an “affiliative(有亲和力的)function”,or a social glue that develops liking and smoother interactions. Expressiveness is also linked to being seen as more “readable”,suggesting that a lively face makes one's intentions and mental states easier for others to decipher.Beyond frequency of facial movements, people who employ facial expressions more strategically to suit social goals, such as looking friendly in a greeting, are also more well-liked. The findings challenge the “poker face” common belief that a still and unemotional appearance is always most advantageous.Instead, they suggest that for most people, allowing one's face to mirror inner states and intentions can invite warmer reactions. As the researchers conclude,“Being facially expressive is socially advantageous”.So,next time you catch yourself making lines on your forehead,or flashing a smile, know that your face just might be working overtime on your behalf. 1.What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about concerning the study? A.Its impact. B.Its findings. C.Its limitations. D.Its significance. B 2.What may facial expressiveness serve as in negotiation settings? A.A way to frighten competitors. B.A method to hide personality. C.A tool to show personal quality. D.A strategy to settle disagreement. 根据第三段的“In a negotiation task...secure a larger slice of a reward...smoothing over conflicts.” D 3.What does the underlined word “decipher” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A.Copy. B.Overlook. C.Remember. D.Interpret. 根据第四段,尤其是“Expressiveness is also linked to being seen as more ‘readable’...for others to decipher.” D 4.What may the author advise based on the findings of the study? A.Always wearing a still face. B.Learning to be an open book. C.Speaking out inner emotions. D.Forcing a smile through tears. 答案 B B (2025·安徽马鞍山二模)The researchers, from the University of Cambridge, say their solar-powered reactor could be used to make fuels to power cars and planes. It could also be used to generate fuels in remote or off-grid(没有电网的)locations. Unlike conventional technologies, the reactor developed by the Cambridge researchers does not require fossil-fuel-based power,or the transport and storage of carbon dioxide(CO2),but instead converts(转化) atmospheric CO2,into something useful using sunlight. The results are reported in the journal Nature Energy. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been proposed as a possible solution to the climate crisis. However,it is energy-intensive and there are concerns about the long-term safety of storing pressurized CO2,deep underground.“What if,instead of pumping carbon dioxide underground,we made something useful from it?” said first author Dr.Sayalee Katar from Cambridge's Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry.“Carbon dioxide is a harmful greenhouse gas,but it can also be turned into useful chemicals.” The focus of the research group is the development of devices that convert waste, water and air into practical fuels and chemicals. These devices take their inspiration from photosynthesis(光合作用):the process by which plants convert sunlight into food. The devices don't use any outside power: no cables,no batteries—all they need is the power of the sun. The team's latest system takes carbon dioxide directly from the air and converts it into syngas,a key element in the production of many chemicals. At night, specialized devices take in carbon dioxide. When the sun comes out,the sunlight heats up the collected gas, starting a chemical reaction that converts the gas into solar syngas.A mirror on the reactor concentrates the sunlight, making the process more efficient. The researchers say the particularly promising opportunity is that the syngas can be converted into many of the products we rely on every day, without contributing to climate change. They are building a larger-sized version of the reactor and hope to begin tests in the spring. 5.What can be learned about the reactor from the first two paragraphs? A.It consumes solar energy. B.It operates well in remote locations. C.It requires fewer technologies. D.It stores solar energy for transportation. 根据第一段“The researchers, from the University of Cambridge, say their solar-powered reactor...” 故选A。 答案 A 6.Why does the author mention Katar's words? A.To introduce their alternative thinking. B.To show the origin of their inspiration. C.To recognize the value of their device. D.To explain the reasons for their success. 根据第三段中的“‘What if,instead of pumping carbon dioxide underground,we made something useful from it?’ said first author Dr.Sayalee Katar from Cambridge's Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry.Carbon dioxide is a harmful greenhouse gas,but it can also be turned into useful chemicals.’” 故选A。 答案 A 7.What does paragraph 5 mainly talk about? A.The efficiency of different devices. B.Functional processes of the system. C.The cooperation of the team members. D.Working surroundings of the system. 该段详细描述了研究团队最新系统的工作流程——“takes carbon dioxide directly from the air and converts it into syngas”;具体步骤包括“At night, specialized devices take in carbon dioxide”,“When the sun comes out,the sunlight heats up the collected gas, starting a chemical reaction that converts the gas into solar syngas”,以及“A mirror on the reactor concentrates the sunlight, making the process more efficient”。 B 8.What are the researchers planning to do? A.Produce green energy. B.Launch a trial of the reactor. C.Replace existing fuels. D.Create a large-sized mirror. 根据最后一段中的“They are building a larger-sized version of the reactor and hope to begin tests in the spring.” 答案 B C (2025·江西南昌摸底)A study by researchers at Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU Singapore) has shown that the use of cool paint coatings in cities can help pedestrians (行人) feel up to 1.5 degrees Celsius cooler, making the urban area more comfortable for work and play. Cool paint coatings contain additives that reflect the sun's heat to reduce surface heat absorption and emission. They have been touted (吹捧) as one way to cool down the urban area and relieve the Urban Heat Island effect,a phenomenon in which urban areas experience warmer temperatures than their outlying surroundings. To date, most studies of cool paint coatings have been either simulation-based (基于模拟的) or tested in scaled-down models, and understanding of its application in real-world situations is limited. Now,NTU researchers have conducted a first-of-its-kind real-world study in the tropics—coating the roofs, walls, and road pavements of an industrial area in Singapore—to comprehensively evaluate how well cool paint coatings work in reducing city heat. By comparison with a nearby uncoated area, the team discovered that the coated environment was up to two degrees Celsius cooler in the afternoon, with pedestrian thermal comfort level improving by up to 1.5 degrees Celsius, measured by using the Universal Thermal Climate Index,a common international standard for the human outdoor temperature sensation that takes into account temperature, relative humidity, thermal radiation, and wind speed. Compared to conventional roofs, the roofs with the cool paint coating reflected 50 percent more sunlight and absorbed up to 40 percent less heat as a result, during the hottest time of a sunny day.The coated walls also prevented most of the heat from entering the industrial buildings. Lead investigator,Associate Professor Wan Man Pun at the NTU School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, said,“Results of the study are relevant not just for cities in Singapore where it is hot all year round, but for other urban areas around the world too. With global warming, people will increasingly look for ways to stay cool. Our study proves how cool paint coatings can be a strategy to reduce the Urban Heat Island effect in future.” 9.What are cool paint coatings intended for? A.Beautifying public surroundings. B.Improving eco-friendly additives. C.Sheltering people from global warming. D.Bringing temperatures down in cities. 根据第二段的“They have been touted as one way to cool down the urban area and relieve the Urban Heat Island effect”可知,冷漆涂料旨在让城市温度降下来并缓解城市热岛效应。故选D。D项中的“Bringing temperatures down”和文中的“cool down”是同义替换。 答案 D 10.What is special about the NTU study of cool paint coatings? A.It's conducted and tested in practical life. B.Its conclusions can be applied domestically. C.It gives a full description of the paint coatings. D.It's based on the Universal Thermal Climate Index. 根据第三段的“Now,NTU researchers have conducted a first-of-its-kind real-world study...in reducing city heat.” 故选A。A项中的“practical life”是对文中“real-world”的同义转换。 答案 A 11.Which aspect of the research is paragraph 4 mainly about? A.The basics. B.The findings. C.The process. D.The subjects. B 12.Which of the following is the best title for the text? A.New Paint Coatings Remove City Heat B.New Paint Coatings Cool Urban Settings C.Cool Paint Coatings: A Solution to Global Warming D.Cool Paint Coatings: No More Heat in Urban Regions 七选五 (2025·山东济南一模)We all know that first impressions are important and that they are lasting. That's why we work hard to make great first impressions.__13__ First impressions might overshadow your abilities. When you are hired in an organization,a set of inferences are made about you.Making inferences is human nature. If you become known for your attention to details, you may never be seen as someone who can see the big picture. If you are the person who organizes all of the birthday celebrations, you may never be seen as management material.__14__ First impressions can stamp you forever, often predetermining the path of your career and how far you will be able to advance your career. These perceptions paint a picture of who people think you are.__15__ This,in large part,is why your careers are held back, why you become frustrated, dissatisfied and even want to leave the present position. But it doesn't have to come to that if you can unlock hidden aspects of your value.Talk about what you are reading or a project you are working on at home with coworkers and your manager when appropriate. This can demonstrate other skills you possess.Embrace(欣然接受) new things and become knowledgeable about your company and industry.__16__ Volunteer in your company. It is a good way to give yourself the opportunity for others to see you in a way that is outside of your defined role. __17__ As people get to know you better, they will recognize your diverse interests and capabilities, potentially opening new doors for career advancement. A.Here are some useful suggestions for you. B.Arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible. C.Thus, you can contribute in fresh and unexpected ways. D.It is often extremely difficult for people to change them. E.Whatever labels, they prevent people seeing your other capacities. F.Nevertheless, the same first impressions can block our career progress. G.By expanding your knowledge and network, you can reshape others' perceptions.
