Nature is all around us. It includes mountains, rivers, forests, and oceans. These natural landscapes (风景) are not only beautiful to look at, but also very important for our planet and for us humans.
Natural landscapes are home to countless plants and animals. The Amazon Rainforest, called the “lungs of the earth”, produces much of the oxygen we breathe. It has millions of different species, some found nowhere else. The diverse plants also help to keep the soil in place.
Moreover, natural landscapes offer a great place for people to relax and get away from the busy city life. When we hike in the mountains, swim in the clear sea, or have a picnic in the forest, we feel a sense of peace. A recent study showed that spending time in nature can reduce stress and make us feel happier. It also helps us focus better when we go back to our work or study.
But natural landscapes are in danger. People cut down trees for wood or farms, and factories pour waste water into rivers, making the water dirty. These actions destroy wildlife’s homes. Without taking action, we’ll lose these treasures.
Protecting them is everyone’s job. We can start by reducing waste, using less water, and choosing products that are friendly to the environment. By doing these small things, we can help to keep our natural landscapes safe for future generations (一代).
Natural landscapes are valuable treasures. They give us clean air and a place to relax, and a home to wildlife. We should do everything we can to protect them.
11. Why is the Amazon Rainforest called the “lungs of the earth”?
A. Because it is very large.
B. Because it produces much of the oxygen we need.
C. Because there are different animals there.
12. What does the underlined word “diverse” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Different. B. Beautiful. C. Useful.
13. According to the passage, what can spending time in nature do for us?
A. It can make us feel stressed.
B. It can help us learn more about plants.
C. It can reduce stress and make us happier.
14. What is the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A. Natural landscapes are very beautiful.
B. People are destroying natural landscapes.
C. People should protect natural landscapes.
15. What does the writer want us to do?
A. Spend more time in nature.
B. Stop cutting down trees.
C. Protect natural landscapes.

_________________________________________
Lu Xun was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province in 1881.
【详解】“鲁迅于1881年生于浙江省绍兴”,译为“Lu Xun was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province in 1881”。“出生于”be born in,描述过去的事实(1881年),需用一般过去时,主语Lu Xun为第三人称单数,be动词选用was。
_________________________________________
It costs a lot of money to travel around Paris by taxi.
【详解】“乘出租车逛巴黎(Paris)要花很多钱”,译为“It costs a lot of money to travel around Paris by taxi”。用It作形式主语,真正的主语是后面的“to travel around Paris by taxi”;cost表“花费”时主语是物或形式主语it,这里it是第三人称单数所以用costs,“a lot of money”对应“很多钱”,“travel around Paris”是“逛巴黎”、“by taxi”是“乘出租车”。
_________________________________________
I don’t know how to improve my pronunciation.
【详解】分析句子可知,时态为一般现在时(描述目前的状态);“我不知道”译为I don’t know;“怎么提高”译为how to improve,其中how to do sth. I don’t know how to improve my pronunciation.
_________________________________________
These mooncakes are so delicious!
译为“These mooncakes are so delicious!”。“这些”用“These”表示,限定复数名词,位于句首首字母应大写;are“是”,be动词的复数形式,连接主语和表语;“月饼”用“mooncakes”表示,可数名词复数作主语;“so delicious”表示“太好吃了”,副词so修饰形容词delicious共同作表语。
45. 我妹妹小时候不外向。(汉译英)
_________________________________________
My sister was not outgoing when she was young.
“外向”的英文形容词是outgoing;“小时候”可译为时间状语when she was young。故填My sister was not outgoing when she was young。

Chinese paper-cutting is one of the oldest handicrafts in China. It appeared during the Northern Dynasties. So it has a history of about 1,500 years. At first, paper-cuttings were only popular in the countryside, and the masters were farmers’ wives.
Traditional paper-cuttings were first put on windows for decoration. This is why they’re also called “window flowers”. Most paper-cuttings are made of red paper, because red means good luck in Chinese culture. Today, people use paper-cuttings to decorate not only windows, but also mirrors, lamps and other furniture.
Paper-cuttings are popular because of their expressions of good wishes and hopes. During the Spring Festival, for example, many people put up paper-cuttings of the Chinese character “Fu” upside down. They hope that this will bring them good luck. At wedding ceremonies, you can always see paper-cuttings of the character “Xi”. It means that the couple can enjoy double happiness together. Paper-cuttings have developed different styles in different parts of China. Paper-cuttings from the northern parts usually have interesting shapes and rich patterns. In southern China, people prefer elegant paper-cuttings. They focus more on the themes of flowers, fruit, birds and fish.
It is quite easy to learn how to make paper-cuttings. With a piece of paper and a knife or a pair of scissors, you can try to make your own paper art. You can only make one piece at a time by using a knife. But if you use scissors to cut several pieces of paper together, you can make several identical paper-cuttings at once.

C. It can reduce stress and make us happier.

A. Natural landscapes are very beautiful.
