第一篇：Beautiful Plants in the Botanical Garden
Last weekend, I visited a big botanical garden with my parents. There are all kinds of amazing plants there, and I learned lots of new words about plant parts.
First, I saw many water lilies floating on the quiet lake. Their big green leaves look like round umbrellas. White and pink flowers grow out of the dark soil under the water. Even though they grow in mud, the flowers are clean and pretty. Near the lake, a wall is covered with creepers. They have short thick stems, and they climb everywhere quickly.
Then I found a patch of morning glories. Their purple flowers open wide on sunny days, but close tight when rain is coming. Next to them stand tall pine trees. I touched their hard pine cones. On sunny days, pine cones open their scales; on rainy days, they fold to protect seeds inside.
My favourite plant is the sunflower. It has a long thick stem and huge green leaves. Its big yellow flower looks like the bright sun. It always turns its face to catch sunlight. The guide told us we eat its seeds as snacks.
Every plant has four main parts: roots, stems, leaves and flowers. Roots stay in soil to hold plants and take in water. Stems carry water to every leaf. Leaves use sunlight to help plants grow. Flowers will turn into fruit with seeds. All plants are magical, and I love exploring them in botanical gardens.

第二篇：How Plants Talk About the Weather？
Do you know some plants are great weather reporters? They can tell us if it will be sunny, cloudy or rainy, just by changing their looks.
Let’s start with morning glory. Its soft purple petals open fully when the weather is nice and sunny. But if dark clouds come and rain is on the way, it will close its flowers tightly to keep water out. Pine cones are another clever reporter. When the sun shines bright, pine cones open all their scales to let seeds fly away. When it rains, the scales fold up quickly to protect the small seeds inside from wet soil.
The four-o’clock flower also tells weather stories. If its flowers fade and close very early in the morning, we will have a hot sunny day. If the flowers stay open after six o’clock a.m., it means the sky will be grey, and rain may come soon.
All these plants change because they react to wet and dry air. Leaves, stems and flowers all feel the weather around them. Farmers even use old plant sayings to guess rain. One old saying goes: When grass is dry at morning light, look for rain before the night.
Next time you walk outside, watch your plants carefully. Look at pine cones, morning glories and water lily leaves. They do not speak, but they can show us the weather with their roots, stems and leaves. It is one of the most amazing secrets of plants.

第三篇：The Tomato Plant’s Different Parts
I grow a tomato plant on my balcony at home. Every day I watch it carefully and learn all its plant parts from my English textbook. Let me tell you every part of this lovely plant.
Deep down in the dark soil are its thin, long roots. Roots have two big jobs: they hold the whole plant tight in the soil, and they drink water and food from underground. Above the soil stands a strong green stem. The stem is like a long road. It moves water from roots up to every leaf and flower.
The tomato plant has many small green leaves all over the stem. All leaves love sunlight very much. They take in sunlight to make food for the whole plant. Soon, small yellow flowers grow on the stem. Those pretty flowers will turn into red round tomatoes later. Tomatoes are fruit, and they hold tiny seeds inside.
One day our class talked about plants we can eat. We eat different parts of different plants. We eat flowers like tulip buds, seeds like sunflower seeds, stems like bamboo shoots, and roots like carrots. For tomato plants, we eat its fruit.
I water the soil of my tomato plant every three days. I move it to get more sunlight every morning. I watch its roots, stem, leaves and flowers grow bigger day by day. This small tomato plant teaches me all the core words of Unit 3. All parts of a plant work together to grow new seeds, and new plants will grow from those seeds.
