and“和”、or“或者”、because“因为”,逻辑不通。
in“在……里面”、at“在……
had to不得不(过去式)、have to不得不(现在式)、can能够(现在式),不符合。
what I could spend我能花什么,陈述语序;what could I spend我能花什么,疑问语序;that could I spend我能花……,疑问语序,错误结构,都不符合。
Several weeks ago, I finally got a limited-edition (限量版) novel The Old Man and the Sea. The book was so special that my mother ___11___ to buy it online. I gave the book to my best friend, Maggie, on our way home. She asked ___12___ she could borrow it after I finished reading or not. I lent it to her at once because I knew she also loved the novel.
However, ___13___ happened. The next day she told me that the book was lost. She read it on the bus and might leave it on the seat as she was ___14___ the bus. I was so angry. How could she behave so ___15___? I expected the book for weeks. What’s worse, she couldn’t understand why I was angry. She said it didn’t matter because she ___16___ buy me a new one. I didn’t speak to her for the ___17___ two days. However, on the third afternoon, she ___18___ to me seriously. She said she was sorry for losing the book and understood how I felt.
When I saw the tears (眼泪) in her eyes, I knew she felt regretful about hurting my ___19___. Then I held her hand and told her to leave all her stress (压力) and _____20_____ behind. After all, a friend was much more important than a book.
11. A. repaired B. continued C. burnt D. managed
12. A. whether B. if C. when D. why
13.
A. something useful B. something wrong C. useful something D. wrong something
14. A. getting off B. coming round C. comparing with D. turning off
15. A. nearly B. honestly C. carelessly D. necessarily
16. A. would B. might C. should D. need
17. A. worried B. following C. empty D. musical
18. A. realised B. controlled C. punished D. apologised
19. A. reasons B. wonders C. feelings D. tasks
20. A. wound B. worry C. address D. truth
11. D 12. A 13. B 14. A 15. C 16. A 17. B 18. D 19. C 20. B
根据“or not”可知,此处考查固定搭配“whether... or not”,表示“是否”。if虽可表是否,但与or not连用时whether 更佳。
根据后文“The next day she told me that the book was lost.”
coming round“绕道/来访”,comparing with“与……
“would”在此处表示意愿或过去将来时态下的动作,符合语境(she said... she would buy...)。might“可能”,should“应该”和need“需要”语气或语意不如would贴切。
根据后文“She said she was sorry...”

根据第2段“But now it has a serious problem.”以及后文“In most of the past 35 years, it didn’t reach the sea.”
根据第3段“Now it is down to 2 billion m³ or so.”
根据第4段“Mostly it’s damming and global warming that make rivers dry.”

根据第6段“Global warming is making things worse.”及“The glaciers are becoming smaller.”

A Ghanaian artist named Michael Tettch is using old glass to make new art. He hopes to help improve the environment in his country. If he can make some money by doing it, he will be happy, too.
Tettch learned the art of glass blowing (玻璃吹制) during a visit to Europe in 2012. He went to see people who knew about glassblowing in the Netherlands and France, where he learned to make all kinds of useful things with glass.
Tettch has had his own workplace where he melts (熔化) broken glass from waste centers in Accra and turns it into art. His small team often helps collect and sort the broken glass to save time.
Tettch looks for broken glass from old televisions or bottles and melts it down in a large round container known as a kiln (窑). The kiln gets very hot, nearly 1,500 degrees, and turns the old glass into hot liquid (液体). Then he uses a long stick to shape the glass into colorful things people can use again.
Over the years, he has gotten better and better at the work. Now Tettch’s pieces are sold in shops in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. Some of his works are also sold in art stores in Europe and the US. Many buyers praise his art for its environmental value.
The underlined word “praise” means speaking highly of someone or something.
29. Why does Tettch use old glass to make new art?
A. Because this kind of art is popular in his country.
B. Because he must make more money to support his family.
C. Because he hopes to protect the environment in his country.

32. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. Ghana is Known For Its New Artworks B. A Ghanaian Artist Teaches Glass Blowing
C. Glass Waste Does Harm to the Environment D. A Ghanaian Artist Turns Glass Waste into Art
C 30. A 31. D 32. D

In science museums, you usually see animal specimens (标本) lying silently. Now they are not quiet anymore. Thanks to AI, visitors to a museum in England can talk to them now.
The museum works with an AI company so that it is possible for people and the natural world to communicate with each other. Visitors only need to use their smartphones to scan the QR codes (扫描二维码) next to the specimens to begin talking with them—either by text or voice. The animals will reply as if they’re still alive.
This is a new way for people to learn about animals. The museum wants to see how this can help people connect with nature better.
“This is just a try at using AI technology in natural science. Will it help people know more about the animal specimens? Will it influence people’s opinions about them? We are not sure,” said Jack Ashby, a worker of the museum.
And you don’t have to speak English. The animals are multilingual. So no matter what languages you speak, the animals can talk to you in a way that’s easy for you to understand.
The project engineers hope to make people care more about the biodiversity crisis According to the most recent research, wildlife populations dropped by 69% between 1970 and 2018.
Let’s hope the new technology will be both fun and helpful.
The word “drop” means quickly becoming less.
33. Visitors can talk to the animal specimens by ________.
A. touching the specimens B. scanning the QR codes with smartphones
C. speaking to museum workers D. watching videos about animals
34. What does the underlined word “multilingual” in Paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. Being able to speak many languages. B. Being able to move like real animals.
C. Being able to answer difficult questions. D. Being able to sing beautiful songs.
35. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Visitors can talk to specimens in an American museum.
B. Visitors can talk with animal specimens either by text or voice.
C. AI cannot help people know more about the animal specimens.
D. Wildlife populations dropped by 79% between 1970 and 2018.
B 34. A 35. B
根据文章第二段第二句“Visitors only need to use their smartphones to scan the QR codes (扫描二维码) next to the specimens to begin talking with them—either by text or voice.”
根据第五段内容“And you don’t have to speak English. The animals are multilingual. So no matter what languages you speak, the animals can talk to you in a way that’s easy for you to understand.”
根据第二段“Visitors only need to use their smartphones to scan the QR codes (扫描二维码) next to the specimens to begin talking with them—either by text or voice.”

Recently, a fridge magnet (冰箱贴) has gone popular on social media. It is inspired* by the phoenix coronet of Empress Xiaoduan. It attracts a large number of people to the gift shops of the National Museum of China in Beijing.
The phoenix coronet is one of the museum’s most ________ exhibits, which was once worn by Empress Xiaoduan. It is decorated (装饰) with nine phoenixes, nine dragons, thousands of pearls and hundreds of rubies and sapphires. This treasure is so important that it can’t be shown abroad.
“Over 80,000 magnets have been sold within just three months and helped the museum make over 10 million yuan,” said Liao Fei, a worker from the museum, according to a report in Beijing Daily.
Inside the museum, it’s common to see visitors carrying bags filled with the fridge magnets. According to the gift shop staff, besides buying the magnets in the museum, they can also buy them online.
Across China, museums have introduced cultural and creative products inspired by their collections. Among them, fridge magnets are the most popular. As these products become more popular, they help people learn more about the artworks and museums.
However, staff members of the museums hope that visitors will give more attention to the museums, and understand the rich culture within them, rather than just waiting in a long line, buying some products, taking a few photos and leaving.

A Ghanaian artist named Michael Tettch is using old glass to make new art. He hopes to help improve the environment in his country. If he can make some money by doing it, he will be happy, too.
