Do you sometimes feel like every day is the same? You wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, come home, do your homework and go to sleep. Then you do the same things the next day. Some people think this is really boring. But others say routines (日常作息) like this can be good for our health.
When we have a routine, we don’t have to make many decisions in a day. Making decisions can be tiring. Even small decisions like what to wear or what to eat also use our energy. Think about how many choices you make before noon! If you lay out your day with a clear routine, you save that energy for more important things like studying or playing sports.
A routine also helps us go to sleep at about the same time every night. That is really good for our health. When we sleep well, we feel better and can think more clearly.
Having a routine can also reduce stress. When we know what to expect each day, we feel more in control. We don’t have to worry about what comes next. This feeling is very helpful, especially when we are busy with school activities.
Of course, things don’t always go as planned. Sometimes things happen all of a sudden, like a surprise test. But if we have a routine for most of our day, we always have something calm to go back to after something unexpected happens. The routine becomes a safe base.
Routines may not work for all. Some people like surprises and enjoy doing different things every day. But for others, a “boring” routine is just what they need!
4. Why do some people think daily routines are boring?
A. Because they have to do too much homework.

A. It helps people save energy for important things.
B. It stops unexpected things from happening.
C. It makes people feel tired every day.
D. It helps people make more friends at school.
7. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. Everyone likes boring routines. B. Routines are only good for students.
C. Routines are not suitable for all people. D. People with routines hate surprises.

The 2026 Government Work Report has made it clear that China will encourage qualified (符合条件的) areas to introduce spring and autumn holidays for primary and secondary school students. This policy (政策) has become a hot topic and has already been trialed (试点) in provinces like Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong, where valuable practical experience has been gained.
These short breaks bring clear benefits to students. After long periods of schoolwork, they help reduce study pressure and support students’ physical and mental health. With fine and pleasant weather, students can leave the classroom to join hands-on activities, such as farm visits, nature studies and local cultural experiences. In this way, what they learn in textbooks can be connected to real life.
The holidays also bring benefits to families. Staggered (错峰的) holiday plans allow parents to spend quality time with their children at a lower cost, avoiding the crowds of peak travel seasons. Many families choose to travel, visit relatives or explore museums together, which helps strengthen family ties. At the same time, the holidays can develop local tourism and the economy, creating a win-win situation for both education and society.

Marathons (马拉松) are becoming more and more popular in China. They are held in many different cities every year. In our hometown Muping, we also held a marathon this year. It was the Muping Island Cherry Blossom Ring Run. It started at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Longhu North China Sea Park in Muping District, Yantai. The event had 3,000 runners in all. Why are more and more Chinese taking part in marathon events? Why are more and more cities hosting such events? With the development of society and the improvement of living standards (水平), people are paying more and more attention to health. Marathons, as sports good for both physical and mental health, are popular with many people.
A running lover, Yang Jun, for example, saw great changes from keeping running. He took part in the Muping Island Cherry Blossom Ring Run. “I used to have an unhealthy lifestyle. Running marathons helped me get into better shape. Besides, running has helped me improve focus and energy. Now people in China take part in marathons more and more often. Although some people run marathons to get a sense of achievement, the main reason why marathons have become popular with people is that they want to stay healthy,” he said.
For cities, hosting marathon events plays a positive (积极的) role in developing the tourism industry (产业). It shows the city’s beautiful landscapes (风景) and rich local culture. These marathon events help cities become more famous and attract (吸引) more visitors, and this greatly helps local businesses and economic (经济的) development.
As we can see, the growing fever for road running benefits both people’s health and cities’ development. It’s a win-win situation.

根据文中第二段第二句“Lai was born in Hong Kong in November 1982.”可知,她出生于1982年,因此A项“她出生于1983年”错误;根据文中第三段第三句“She was chosen as a reserve astronaut in June 2024 and joined the astronaut team in August that year. ”可知,她加入宇航员团队是在2024年8月,因此C项错误;根据文中第二段第三句“She will work as a payload specialist.”
根据文中第三段第二句“Before becoming an astronaut, she was a police officer in the Hong Kong Police Force.”可知,她曾是警察,故A项“她过去是老师”错误;根据文中第四段第二句“The mission will launch at 23:08 Beijing Time on May 24,”可知发射时间为23:08,晚上,故B项“发射时间在早晨”错误;根据文中第四段第一句“Lai will work with two experienced astronauts, Zhu Yangzhu and Zhang Zhiyuan, in space, and they will play different roles in the mission.”

应选用failed,fail to do sth.
应选用invited,invite sb. to do sth.
应选用proud,be proud of是固定短语,意为为……
