Chen Lei “Life is full of challenges (挑战), but I don’t let small troubles worry me too much. I usually share my problems with my close friends. Why? Because we are of similar age, and they understand my situation better. They always give me useful and easy-to-follow ideas, and talking to them makes me feel relaxed.”
Li Yan “I’m a quiet person by nature and like to deal with my problems by myself. I believe that some thoughts and feelings are personal, and it’s hard for others to fully understand me. So, I almost never share my troubles with anyone. Solving problems on my own helps me become more independent.”

Working hours are different from one country to another. In France, people spend about 1,646 hours a year at work. In Japan, however, people work about 2,159 hours a year. Why do people work so many hours? Some people work more hours because they want to make more money. However, many bosses (老板) don’t pay overtime. Their workers don’t get more pay for more work. Some people think it’s their duty (责任) to work more hours. Some are afraid of losing their jobs if they don’t work more hours.
Many people say that their vacations are too short. In France, people get five weeks of paid vacation a year. In Germany, they get four to six weeks, and in the United States, two weeks. One study shows fewer than half of workers use all their vacation days. In Great Britain, there is a saying, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull (迟钝的) boy.” If that is true, there must be a lot of dull people in the world.

Do you remember where you were when you heard the news about the traffic accident of a close friend? The answer is probably “yes”. Do you remember what you were doing on your birthday that year? You may have to think a little harder.
People remember bad memories (记忆) more easily and in greater detail (细节) than good ones. Why is that? A new study finds that people do this because of evolutionary (进化的) reasons.
Elizabeth Kensinger at Boston College, the US, did a study looking at this. They found negative feelings like worry and sadness cause an increase (增加) in mental activity. This activity happens in the part of the brain (大脑) that controls memories. So memories caused by negative feelings are kept in greater detail than happy or other kinds of memories. For example, after seeing a man on a street holding a knife, people remember the man and knife clearly, but they forget the details of the street.
According to Kensinger, it is easy to understand this from an evolutionary point of view She said that people paid attention (关注) to dangerous information so they could use that information to guide their actions to save their lives. They could also use it to plan for similar things in the future.
The scientists say more studies are needed on how we remember bad memories. This line of study will help solve the problem of stress disorder
47. Compared to bad memories, which one is right about good memories?
A. They are remembered more in detail. B. They are remembered less easily.
C. They are remembered longer. D. They are remembered more easily.
48. What does the underlined word “negative” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Simple. B. Bad. C. Wonderful. D. Same.

C. She will have a happy memory. D. Her brain activity will increase.

stands up意为“站起身”,动作连贯;looks up“抬头、查阅”、cuts up“切碎”,二者和收拾餐具的动作不匹配。

Zheng Hao “When I face problems, I like talking to my parents or teachers better. They have more life experience and can often give me a hand. What’s more, they always listen to me patiently (有耐心地) and help me see things clearly. I trust them completely because they truly care about me and want me to be happy and healthy.”

A. Simple. B. Bad. C. Wonderful. D. Same.
49. What will happen when a girl breaks into tears (眼泪)?
A. She will have the problem of stress disorder. B. She can control her memories well.
C. She will have a happy memory. D. Her brain activity will increase.
50. We can learn from the passage that ________.
A. it is easier to remember good memories
B. dangerous information can save lives
C. people remember bad memories in greater detail
D. fewer studies are needed for remembering bad memories
B 48. B 49. D 50. C
根据第二段中“People remember bad memories (记忆) more easily and in greater detail (细节) than good ones.”
根据第三段中“They found negative feelings like worry and sadness cause an increase (增加) in mental activity.”
根据第三段中“They found negative feelings like worry and sadness cause an increase (增加) in mental activity.”
根据第二段中“People remember bad memories more easily and in greater detail than good ones.”
