Sally had plenty of worries. She felt nervous about spelling tests. She was afraid of the football class. She feared her friends might no longer like her.
One day, her wise grandma came up with a special idea. “Write down all your worries on pieces of paper and bring them to the Worry Monster. He will help you deal with them,” she said gently.
Curious but confused, Sally asked who the Worry Monster was. “Your mom and dad will take you to meet him.” Grandma replied.

In a heavy rainstorm, you may notice water running along streets like small rivers. It collects near school gates, covers people’s shoes and blocks traffic. Many people think the only answer is bigger drains (下水道). But some engineers ask a different question: What if a city could drink part of the rain before it becomes a flood?
This idea is called a sponge city (海绵城市). It means the city is designed to slow, hold and reuse rainwater. Planners use rain gardens, sunken (下沉的) green spaces and permeable (可渗透的) roads.
The science is simple but clever. Soil, plants and tiny spaces between stones work together like a filter. Water moves down slowly, carrying less mud into rivers. Some of it enters underground storage; some helps trees grow; some dries up later and cools the air. In this way, streets become part of water system.
Sponge design also changes how we think about safety. A flood is not about one sudden storm. It happens when a city uses too much concrete (混凝土) and forgets where water used to go.

In a heavy rainstorm, you may notice water running along streets like small rivers. It collects near school gates, covers people’s shoes and blocks traffic. Many people think the only answer is bigger drains (下水道). But some engineers ask a different question: What if a city could drink part of the rain before it becomes a flood?
This idea is called a sponge city (海绵城市). It means the city is designed to slow, hold and reuse rainwater. Planners use rain gardens, sunken (下沉的) green spaces and permeable (可渗透的) roads.
The science is simple but clever. Soil, plants and tiny spaces between stones work together like a filter. Water moves down slowly, carrying less mud into rivers.
