人教必修第一册 Unit 1 TEENAGE LIFE 阅读理解 [2021·全国甲卷, D篇阅读] Who is a genius? This question has greatly interested humankind for centuries. Let’s state clearly: Einstein was a genius. His face is almost the international symbol for genius. But we want to go beyond one man and explore the nature of genius itself. Why is it that some people are so much more intelligent or creative than the rest of us? And who are they? In the sciences and arts, those praised as geniuses were most often white men, of European origin.Perhaps this is not a surprise. It’s said that history is written by the victors, and those victors set the standards for admission to the genius club. When contributions were made by geniuses outside the club—women,or people of a different colour or belief—they were unacknowledged and rejected by others. A study recently published by Science found that as young as age six, girls are less likely than boys to say that members of their gender(性别) are “really, really smart”. Even worse, the study found that girls act on that belief: around age six they start to avoid activities said to be for children who are “really, really smart”. Can our planet afford to have any great thinkers become discouraged and give up?It doesn’t take a genius to know the answer: absolutely not. Here’s the good news. In a wired world with constant global communication, we’re all positioned to see flashes of genius wherever they appear. And the more we look, the more we will see that social factors(因素)like gender, race, and class do not determine the appearance of genius. As a writer says, future geniuses come from those with “intelligence, creativity, perseverance(毅力),and simple good fortune, who are able to change the world.” ( )12.What does the author think of victors’ standards for joining the genius club? A.They’re unfair. B.They’re conservative. C.They’re objective. D.They’re strict. ( )13.What can we infer about girls from the study in Science? A.They think themselves smart. B.They look up to great thinkers. C.They see gender differences earlier than boys. D.They are likely to be influenced by social beliefs. ( )14.Why are more geniuses known to the public? A.Improved global communication. B.Less discrimination against women. C.Acceptance of victors’ concepts. D.Changes in people’s social positions. ( )15.What is the best title for the text? A.Geniuses think alike B.Genius takes many forms C.Genius and intelligence D.Genius and luck 【文章大意】 本文是一篇议论文,主要讨论了天才的本质,天才的核定标准,以及如今天才的多样性和广泛性的话题。 由第三段最后一句“When contributions were made by geniuses outside the club—women, or people of a different colour or belief—they were unacknowledged and rejected by others.” 故选A。 由第四段中“…girls are less likely than boys to say that members of their gender(性别)are ‘really, really smart’. Even worse, the study found that girls act on that belief…” 根据最后一段第二句“In a wired world with constant global communication, we’re all positioned to see flashes of genius wherever they appear.” 故选A。 根据第二段“But we want to go beyond one man and explore the nature of genius itself.” [2021·全国甲卷, C篇阅读] When I was 9,we packed up our home in Los Angeles and arrived at Heathrow, London on a grey January morning.Everyone in the family settled quickly into the city except me.Without my beloved beaches and endless blue-sky days, I felt at a loss and out of place. Until I made a discovery. Southbank, at an eastern bend in the Thames, is the centre of British skateboarding, where the continuous crashing of skateboards left your head ringing.I loved it.I soon made friends with the local skaters. We spoke our own language. And my favourite:safe. Safe meant cool. It meant hello. It meant don’t worry about it.Once, when trying a certain trick on the beam(横杆),I fell onto the stones, damaging a nerve in my hand, and Toby came over, helping me up:safe,man.Safe.A few minutes later, when I landed the trick,my friends beat their boards loud, shouting:“Safe! Safe! Safe!”And that’s what mattered—landing tricks, being a good skater.  When I was 15,my family moved to Washington.I tried skateboarding there, but the locals were far less welcoming.Within a couple of years,I’d given it up. When I returned to London in 2004,I found myself wandering down to Southbank, spending hours there.I’ve travelled back several times since, most recently this past spring. The day was cold but clear;tourists and Londoners stopped to watch the skaters.Weaving(穿梭) among the kids who rushed by on their boards,I found my way to the beam. Then a rail-thin teenager,in a baggy white T-shirt,skidded(滑)up to the beam.He sat next to me.He seemed not to notice the man next to him.But soon I caught a few of his glances.“I was a local here 20 years ago,”I told him. Then, slowly,he began to nod his head,“Safe, man. Safe.” “Yeah,” I said.“Safe.” ( )8.What can we learn about the author soon after he moved to London? A.He felt disappointed. B.He gave up his hobby. C.He liked the weather there. ( )10.Why did the author like to spend time in Southbank when he returned to London? A.To join the skateboarding. B.To make new friends. C.To learn more tricks. D.To relive his childhood days. ( )11.What message does the author seem to convey in the text? A.Children should learn a second language. B.Sport is necessary for children’s health. C.Children need a sense of belonging. D.Seeing the world is a must for children. 由第一段第三句“Without my beloved beaches and endless blue-sky days, I felt at a loss and out of place.” 故选A。 It meant hello.”和“And that’s what mattered—landing tricks, being a good skater.” 根据第四段“‘I was a local here 20 years ago,’I told him. Then, slowly,he began to nod his head,‘Safe, man. Safe.’” [2020·全国新高考Ⅱ卷, B篇阅读] The end of the school year was in sight and spirits were high. I was back teaching after an absence of 15 years, dealing with the various kinds of “forbidden fruit” that come out of book bags. Now was the spring of the water pistol(手枪). I decided to think up a method of dealing with forbidden fruit. “Please bring that pistol to me,” I said. “I’m going to put it in my Grandma’s Box.” “What’s that?” they asked. “It’s a large wooden chest full of toys for my grandchildren,” I replied. “You don’t have grandchildren,” someone said. “I don’t now,” I replied. “But someday I will. When I do, my box will be full of wonderful things for them.” My imaginary Grandma’s Box worked like magic that spring, and later. Sometimes students would ask me to describe all the things I had in it. Then I would try to remember the different possessions I supposedly had taken away—since I seldom actually kept them. Usually the offender would appear at the end of the day, and I would return the belonging.   The years went by, and my first grandchild Gordon was born. I shared my joy with that year’s class. Then someone said, “Now you can use your Grandma’s Box.” From then on, instead of coming to ask their possessions back, the students would say, “That’s okay. Put it in your Grandma’s Box for Gordon.” I loved talking about the imaginary box, not only with my students but also with my own children. They enjoyed hearing about all the forbidden fruit I had collected. Then one Christmas I received a surprise gift—a large, beautifully made wooden chest. My son Bruce had made my Grandma’s Box a reality. ( )24.What was the author’s purpose in having the conversation with the students? A.To collect the water pistol. B.To talk about her grandchildren. C.To recommend some toys. D.To explain her teaching method. ( )25.What do the underlined words “the offender” in Paragraph 8 refer to? A.The student’s parent. B.The maker of the Grandma’s Box. C.The author’s grandchild. D.The owner of the forbidden fruit. ( )26.What did the students do after they learned about the birth of Gordon? A.They went to play with the baby. B.They asked to see the Grandma’s Box. C.They made a present for Gordon. D.They stopped asking their toys back. ( )27.What can we infer about the author? A.She enjoys telling jokes. B.She is a strict and smart teacher. C.She loves doing woodwork. D.She is a responsible grandmother. 根据第一段中“…dealing with the various kinds of ‘forbidden fruit’ that come out of book bags. Now was the spring of the water pistol(手枪).”以及第三段中“‘Please bring that pistol to me,’ I said. ‘I’m going to put it in my Grandma’s Box.’” 故选A。 根据画线词后文“…I would return the belonging.” 根据倒数第二段中“From then on, instead of coming to ask their possessions back, the students would say, ‘That’s okay. Put it in your Grandma’s Box for Gordon.’” [2020·全国新高考Ⅱ卷, A篇阅读] Pali Overnight Adventures offers children and teens exciting experiences this summer. While the decline over the past decade is steep for teen readers, some data in the report shows that reading remains a big part of many children’s lives, and indicates how parents might help encourage more reading. According to the report’s key findings, “the proportion (比例) who say they ‘hardly ever’ read for fun has gone from 8 per cent of 13-year-olds and 9 per cent of 17-year-olds in 1984 to 22 per cent and 27 per cent respectively today.” The report data shows that pleasure reading levels for younger children, ages 2~8,remain largely the same. But the amount of time spent in reading each session has declined, from closer to an hour or more to closer to a half hour per session. When it comes to technology and reading, the report does little to counsel(建议) parents looking for data about the effect of e-readers and tablets on reading. It does point out that many parents still limit electronic reading, mainly due to concerns about increased screen time. The most hopeful data shared in the report shows clear evidence of parents serving as examples and important guides for their kids when it comes to reading.Data shows that kids and teens who do read frequently, compared to infrequent readers, have more books in the home, more books purchased for them, parents who read more often, and parents who set aside time for them to read. As the end of school approaches, and school vacation reading lists loom(逼近)ahead, parents might take this chance to step in and make their own summer reading list and plan a family trip to the library or bookstore. 28.What is the Common Sense Media report probably about? A.Children’s reading habits. B.Quality of children’s books. C.Children’s after-class activities. D.Parent-child relationships. 29.Where can you find the data that best supports “children are reading a lot less for fun”? A.In Paragraph 2. B.In Paragraph 3. C.In Paragraph 4. D.In Paragraph 5. 30.Why do many parents limit electronic reading? A.E-books are of poor quality. B.It could be a waste of time. C.It may harm children’s health. D.E-readers are expensive. 31.How should parents encourage their children to read more? A.Act as role models for them. B.Ask them to write book reports. C.Set up reading groups for them. D.Talk with their reading class teachers. 根据第一段的“Teens and younger children are reading a lot less for fun…” 结合第三段的“According to the report’s key findings‘…22 per cent and 27 per cent respectively today.’”可知,本段中出现的from 8 per cent of 13-year-olds and 9 per cent of 17-year-olds in 1984 to 22 per cent and 27 per cent这些数据证明了孩子们现在从阅读中获得的乐趣少了。 根据第五段的“It does point out that many parents still limit electronic reading, mainly due to concerns about increased screen time.” 根据倒数第二段的“The most hopeful data shared in the report shows clear evidence of parents serving as examples and important guides for their kids when it comes to reading.” [2018·全国卷II, A篇阅读] Summer activities Students should read the list with their parents/carers, and select two activities they would like to do. His friends teased him about babysitting his sister and his interests were far different from mine. With no other kids of my age in the neighbourhood,I had to spend hours by myself.   A bright spot for me turned out to be reading. My love of the written word began early as my mother read to me every evening. 32. I started reading books on my own before age 5 and my mother took me to the public library once a week to borrow several books. I quickly graduated from typical children’s books to ones with fewer pictures and longer chapters. Reading opened new worlds to me. 33.      My mother also encouraged me to make what I wanted. I tried making toy cars with cardboard boxes and constructing buildings from leftover cardboard and bits of wood my father gave me. When my mother saw my creations, she told me how creative my designs were. 34. I learned a lot about how to extend the life of objects and transform them into something new and useful. It was a trait(特点) others found helpful, and I soon had friends who wanted to make things with me.   35. My parents made it a point for their two kids to spend time outside,no matter the weather or season. My brother,of course, raced off to be with his friends, while I had plenty to do myself. There was making leaf houses in autumn, ice skating in winter, and so much more. They’re all memories I treasure today.   A. I wasn’t alone any longer. B. I enjoyed reading stories aloud. C. I was invited to play with another kid. D. I loved the colourful photographs in the books. E. Another habit I formed early was being outdoors. F. Thus,I began my lifelong interest in making things. I tried making…”和下文“…to make things with me.” 35.E 结合下文“…to spend time outside…” 语法填空 [2019·浙江6月考] There are several reasons why school uniforms are a good idea. I have learned the basic skills, and embraced every challenge. In many ways, basketball taught me the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. The joy and satisfaction of making a perfect shot or a crucial play are beyond words.
