文体:议论文 主题:人与社会 词数:305
I still recall typing essays on a beloved typewriter during my first year of university, gradually shifting to the first computer and e-mail. The Internet’s arrival was gradual, like a child growing before our eyes, with qualities that were both predictable and unknown. As it became a global reality, predictions about its impact grew—covering research, communication, education, and the transformation of writing, learning, and memory.
The Internet, once a novelty but now an ordinary part of life, has ceased to surprise us and has developed into a deep dependence, with some falling into addiction. It integrates communication, knowledge, entertainment, and business into a single, accessible medium, making it as common as the telephone while distancing us from the world we once knew. This realization often strikes me as I find myself absorbed in front of a screen, even though surrounded by books, struggling to assess its true impact on my life.
I often find myself torn between appreciating the convenience of the Internet and being horrified by the dependence it promotes. The rapid pace and accessibility of information, along with social networking, have lessened our need to move in the real world. The Internet has reduced our existence to a screen, leaving little space for slowness, privacy, and peace, while the world I knew as a child, in books, contrasts sharply with the fast-paced, artificial realities of the digital world.
While technologies shape the real world, few have so deeply affected our minds. For those born after the Internet’s rise, it is all they know, while for those of us who lived in a pre-Internet age, the difference is striking. Perhaps teaching history and the evolution of technology in schools could help children understand that their technology, as deeply integrated into their lives as it seems, is just one part of the universe.

The Internet is a busy place, with billions of interactions, millions of content pieces, and large numbers of social media accounts and data about people. But in recent years, the so-called “dead Internet theory” has gained in popularity. The theory suggests that most activity online is generated by bots (网上机器人) and AI agents, not by humans.
Thanks to generative AI, plenty of AI-generated models and influencers now often show up online. AI-generated content has changed the dynamics of the Internet, making it cheaper than ever to become a content creator. It makes sense, especially from a creator’s perspective. If you spend a few hours on a video for your social pages, you expect to get likes, follows, and subscriptions. However, if you can produce three videos within the same time with AI assistance, you’re increasing your chances of creating those things within the same period.
However, AI could lead to an Internet that feels dead due to a lack of obviously original content and articles that lack a human touch—regardless of viewpoint, experience or humour. Fortunately, one glimmer of hope here is that some online giants have been taking action to reduce bot use, or so they say. Such measures are partly due to advertisers becoming more understanding regarding what makes up real human views versus bot-generated ones. So, no, the Internet is not dead. At least not yet.
The “dead Internet theory” may be hyperbole (夸张), but it raises two important points. First, the Internet is undoubtedly moving in this direction. Second, and more significantly, the theory causes a broader unease about the emotional and social dynamics online. Social media is now the primary news source for many users around the world. Therefore, there’s potential for AI agents to promote false information and interact with each other to boost engagement, which does leave room for concern.
So we do have to accept that humans share online spaces with bots and AI agents. As information spreads faster than ever across digital platforms, caution is advised: never assume it’s actually a human you’re interacting with on the other side of your screen.
( )5.What can be learned about the “dead Internet theory”?
A.AI agents and bots dominate online activities.
B.Content found online is frequently repeated.
C.Humans are losing interest in online interactions.
D.Social media collapse due to information overload.
( )6.Why do today’s creators turn to AI for content production?
A.To guarantee the originality of their content.
B.To make content creation completely effortless.
C.To enhance efficiency of achieving their goals.
D.To adapt to the changing dynamics of the Internet.
( )7.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.The role of social media in news distribution.
B.Digital platforms as the main source of news.
C.The analysis of the reasons for Internet death.
D.Social media’s influence and its potential issues.
( )8.What is the author’s advice on interacting online?
A.Decrease the application of artificial intelligence.
B.Protect personal privacy by limiting shared details.
C.Try to identify the reliability of real human beings.
D.Keep a watchful eye on the Internet interactions.

Anyone with an Internet connection can watch breaking news, or at least some version of it. Across social media, posts can fly up faster than most fact-checkers can handle, and they are often an unpredictable mix of true, fake, and out-of-context information. 1. How do you know what to trust and what not to share? Here are some basic tools everyone should use when consuming breaking news online.
2. Think about who would benefit from spreading confusing information during a news event. During elections, for example, look out for conflicting information and baseless accusations that may benefit one political party or candidate. Of course, not all misinformation is serious. Some is created just for fun or to troll (恶搞) people, so be as sceptical of silly stories as serious ones.
Slow down while reading or watching. Social media is built for things to go viral, for users to quickly share before they are even done reading the words. No matter how shocking, enlightening or annoying a TikTok or YouTube video is, you must wait before passing it on to your network. 3. That’s because they are waiting until information is confirmed and accurate. So assume everything is suspect until you confirm its authenticity (真实性).
Don’t use AI to get news. Tech companies are pushing their voice assistants and AI chatbot tools as a way to get the latest news. 4. They can be incorrect, out of date or simply copying words from sources with little credit or visibility. Some chatbots even have started adding disclaimers (免责声明) around breaking news events, advising readers to look elsewhere for new information. 5.
A.Know why misinformation exists.
B.News outlets may seem slower than social media.
C.Question why you want to share it in the first place.
D.Do not rely on these features for accurate information.
E.Do a Google search for the person or organization’s name.
F.So going directly to news sources will ensure you get more accurate information.
G.The rapid spread of easily accessible AI tools is muddying the waters even further.

C.长难句分析
1.The Internet, once a novelty but now an ordinary part of life, has ceased to surprise us and has developed into a deep dependence, with some falling into addiction. (阅读A)
【分析】 本句主语为the Internet;once a novelty but now an ordinary part of life为同位语;has ceased和has developed构成并列谓语;with some falling into addiction为 with 复合结构作伴随状语。
【译文】 互联网曾经是新奇事物,但现在已成为生活中普通的一部分,它不再让我们感到惊讶,并且已经演变成一种深度依赖,有些人甚至陷入了上瘾的状态。
2.Therefore, there’s potential for AI agents to promote false information and interact with each other to boost engagement, which does leave room for concern. (阅读B)
【分析】 主句为there’s potential for AI agents…engagement;to promote…and interact…

5.F 根据上文“Some chatbots even have started adding disclaimers (免责声明) around breaking news events, advising readers to look elsewhere for new information.”可知,一些聊天机器人建议读者在其他地方寻找新信息,F项“So going directly to news sources will ensure you get more accurate information.”(因此,直接去查看新闻来源将确保你获得更准确的信息。)自然承接此建议,总结应对策略,符合语境。故选F。
●ⅢOne possible version:
Hello, everyone. It is an honour to represent our group in summarizing our discussion. We believe that while technology brings convenience and comfort, it’s also taking away some valuable things from us (宾语从句+让步状语从句).
First, we are losing real face-to-face communication. Many people now prefer texting to talking, which weakens personal connections (定语从句). Second, our critical thinking and problem-solving skills may decline since we often rely on quick online answers instead of thinking deeply (原因状语从句). Finally, technology encourages a more inactive lifestyle, leading to health issues like obesity and poor fitness (v.-ing作结果状语). In short, while technology undoubtedly enhances our lives (让步状语从句), we must balance its use with real-life experiences and personal effort.
Thanks for your listening.
