四、阅读理解 阅读下列三篇短文,根据短文内容选择最佳答案。(30 分)
A
Three students are talking about their favourite animals:
Amy:
My favourite animal is the chameleon (变色龙). I like chameleons because they can change colour. Many people think that chameleons change colour to match where they are. But that’s not true! Chameleons change colour when they feel afraid, angry, too cold, or too hot. So, their colour tells us how they feel. Chameleons also have a long, sticky tongue (黏的舌头). They use it to catch insects. Do you know their eyes can look in two different directions at once? I think they’re amazing animals!
Steve:
I really love elephants. They are big and kind. I love their big ears and long trunks (象鼻). Their trunks are very strong and useful. They use their trunks to pick up food and put it in their mouth. They also collect water in their trunks and spray it out (喷出) to drink or take a shower. Elephants live in big families and help each other. I enjoy watching videos of elephants, especially (尤其) baby elephants. Baby elephants stay close to their mothers. I laugh a lot when they trip over (绊倒) their own feet — they’re so cute!
Isabella:
Dolphins are my favourite animals. I like them because they’re so smart and friendly. Dolphins live in the sea and love to play. They communicate with clicks and whistles (咔嗒声和哨声), almost like a secret language. Some dolphins live in zoos and have to do tricks (把戏) for people, like jumping through circles or playing with balls. That makes me really sad. I think it’s cruel to keep them in small pools. Dolphins should be free to swim, play, and explore the open sea. They’re the happiest when they’re free.
26. According to Amy, why do chameleons change colour?
A. To catch insects for food.
B. To hide from other animals.
C. To match the things around them.
D. To show their feelings or physical states.
27. How does Steve feel when he watches videos of baby elephants?
A. He is surprised by how quickly they learn.
B. He has a lot of lovely and happy moments.
C. He is worried about their safety in the wild.
D. He feels sorry because they often fall over.
28. What does Isabella think about dolphins living in zoos?
A. They enjoy playing with balls and jumping.
B. They should live freely in the ocean.
C. They do not learn enough skills in zoos.
D. They are safer in zoos than in the wild.
29. Who describes an animal that uses its body part as a tool?
A. Only Amy herself. B. Amy and Steve. C. Amy and Isabella. D. Steve and Isabella.
30. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. It tells why the three animals are kept in the zoo.
B. It shows how the three animals communicate with each other.
C. It introduces three animals and the students’ opinions of them.
D. It compares (比较) the living habits of the three animals.

Have you heard of a staycation? It is a vacation spent at home or somewhere in your hometown. It is the combination (组合) of the words “stay” and “vacation”. In recent years, it has become a popular way of spending holidays. You can even find the word in the Oxford English Dictionary.
Last summer, my family and I had a staycation in Shanghai. We didn’t go anywhere far away, but we still made two “accomplishments (成就)”.
The first thing that I did was get better at ping-pong. I went to a two-week-long ping-pong camp. Every morning, I had to wake up at 6 a.m. and arrive at school for a hard-training session that lasted for six hours. Our coach was Zhou Miaogen, who used to train many famous world winners. He taught us many useful skills. I made many new friends as well!
Also, we went to a nearby island called Shengsi in the East China Sea. We stayed in wooden houses. There was a beach with clear blue waters and golden sand right outside our window. The seafood there was very delicious. Every night, we walked along the beach. We also took a jet-ski ride in the sea. It was really exciting, especially when the waves dragged (拖动) us farther away from the beach.
After my staycation, I now understand why it is so popular. Sometimes, you don’t need to go far away. As long as you make plans, you can still relax and have fun. Why not try it out?

② Ancient people used tie-dyeing. Tie-dyeing is a very old way of dyeing clothes in China — it is more than 1,000 years old! It is popular in Yunnan. People first put cloth into the blue dye (染料). Some parts of the cloth become blue, but other parts have a lighter colour. When you open out the cloth, you will see beautiful patterns.
③ Now, the tie-dye skill is China’s national intangible cultural heritage. Anning in Yunnan is famous for tie-dyeing.

He used images of Dianchi Lake and eight popular flowers in Yunnan. “I want to put all the beautiful things into tie-dye works,” Yang said.
⑤ Now Yang is still dyeing and teaching his daughter tie-dyeing. “We have the duty to pass down the skill to younger generations,” Yang said. Yang now teaches tie-dyeing in schools, communities and companies. More than 100,000 people learned from him.

B

① Do you wear clothes with colourful patterns? People usually use machines to make these patterns now. But how did ancient people make them?
② Ancient people used tie-dyeing. Tie-dyeing is a very old way of dyeing clothes in China — it is more than 1,000 years old! It is popular in Yunnan. People first put cloth into the blue dye (染料). Some parts of the cloth become blue, but other parts have a lighter colour. When you open out the cloth, you will see beautiful patterns.
③ Now, the tie-dye skill is China’s national intangible cultural heritage. Anning in Yunnan is famous for tie-dyeing.
④ Yang Cheng, 52, learned tie-dyeing from his mother in the 1980s. Yang got the old skills. At the same time, he studied tie-dyeing in other countries, such as Japan, India and France. It once took Yang two years to make two tie-dye dresses! He used many skills of Anning’s tie-dyeing. Some patterns on the dress are traditional, while some are modern.
