One sunny morning, I went fishing with Uncle Tom by the peaceful riverbank near my home. The air smelled of fresh grass and flowers, and the clear water shone brightly in the soft sunlight. I felt happy and hopeful because Uncle Tom had talked about Walter many times before — a big, clever trout (鳟鱼) living in the deep river. Almost no fishermen in the town had ever caught this special wild fish.
Suddenly, my uncle’s fishing pole bent deeply, and the fishing line became very tight. “It’s Walter!” he said with great excitement. The fish fought hard to escape, swimming here and there wildly in the water. Uncle Tom kept careful control of the fishing rod. After a long, hard fight, he finally pulled the tired fish slowly up onto the riverbank.
At first, Walter looked so beautiful, shining bright silver. But once out of the water, its color slowly turned dull. It became quiet and weak. I started to feel worried and upset. At once, I remembered what we’d learned in science class. This kind of wild trout is rare and in great danger. They can only live in clean, wild rivers.
“Uncle Tom, we should let it go. It belongs to nature.” Uncle Tom smiled and agreed, “You’re right. Though the hook (鱼钩) left a small cut on its mouth, clean water will help it get well soon.” We gently lowered Walter back into the river. Soon it swam freely away.
At that moment, I felt calm and peaceful inside. Every wild animal belongs in nature. Uncle Tom looked at the quiet river and said warmly, “That’s Walter!”

A. He was worried about the fish. B. He felt sorry for letting the fish go.
C. He was surprised he could catch the fish. D. He thought the boy made a good decision.
7. What does the writer mainly want to tell us?
A. Fishing is a happy outdoor activity. B. We must keep trying and never give up.
C. We should protect wildlife and love nature. D. It’s easy for us to catch big fish in the river.

①Can a 101-year-old person still stay energetic and play tennis well? The Australian tennis star Henry Young is such a good example. Age has never stopped him from moving forward. Instead, he keeps training hard. In 2025, he took part in a senior (老年组的) tennis game in Croatia. To people’s great surprise, he still practices tennis several times a week and enjoys every moment on the court (网球场).
②Henry fell in love with tennis when he was young, and he has kept playing it for over 80 years. As his lifelong sport, tennis builds up his body and clears his mind. It gives him lasting energy and makes him confident to face life every day. He once took part in many tennis competitions and won plenty of prizes. Even after turning 100, he still took part in international senior games and showed his great talent to the world.
③Besides playing tennis, drinking milk every day is also his lifelong good habit. It not only helps him to stay healthy and strong but also gives him enough energy to keep doing sports.
④Another secret is staying positive. Whenever people ask about his secret of living a long and energetic life, Henry always shares his useful life idea—keeping a young heart. It lets him see beauty around him and always keep a sunny mood.

B. To list all the tennis matches the old man took part in.
C. To show the ways of becoming a famous tennis player.

As the world gets hotter, more places are suffering from global warming. Some experts and governments make efforts to slow it down, while others hope to find proper ways to survive on a warmer planet.
One idea is to build climate shelters. These are public places where people can stay safe and cool during very hot weather. For example, cool areas in parks and squares, air-conditioned (有空调的) libraries, community centers and shopping malls can be climate shelters. One important part is that they are free to use so that everyone can go there.
Some cities have already started building these climate shelters. In Barcelona, summer temperatures can go above 35℃. The city plans to let everyone be no more than five minutes away from a climate shelter by 2030. It has already built more than 360 of them. Some Chinese cities have turned old bomb shelters (防空洞) into cool resting places in hot weather.
However, the heat is not the only problem. Wildfire smoke can also cause health problems. In Australia, where wildfires are common, many homes are not able to keep all of the smoke out. Climate shelters can help people get away from the heat and smoke. In some countries, climate shelters may also be necessary in winter. In parts of the US and Europe, winters get very cold. People use libraries and community centers as “warm banks”. These heated buildings offer people a warm place to go, especially if they can’t afford to heat their homes during very cold weather. As climate change continues to get worse, such shelters may soon become a normal part of people’s daily life.
12. According to the text, which of the following can be a climate shelter?
A. A park with many tall trees. B. A hotel with a swimming pool.
C. A school with many classrooms. D. A factory with air conditioning.
13. Why does the writer mention Barcelona in the text?
A. To describe a city’s local building styles. B. To show it is the hottest city in the world.
C. To tell us a story about old bomb shelters. D. To give an example of how a city fights heat.
14. What can we learn from Paragraph 4?
A. People in cold areas don’t need shelters.
B. Wildfires are more serious than terrible heat.
C. Global warming can be solved in the near future.
D. Climate shelters will be widely used in daily life.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. Hide from Cold Weather B. Live in Hot Summer Days
C. Survive in a Changing Climate D. Suffer from Bad Conditions

A 13. D 14. D 15. C

固定搭配a home for… with“和”,to“朝向”,about“关于”均搭配错误。
根据后文“put it into the incubator to see if it would hatch (孵化)” 可知是蛋,egg“蛋”符合语境。
根据语境作者承担责任,offer to do sth.

根据文章末尾“I took out my notebook and wrote”可知是笔记本记录。
