M:Artificial Intelligence,or AI,is one of the most popular technologies in

robot that helps you with your housework. It can also be a program which can
write songs.Aviva is such a program.Aviva is created by some computer
programmers. They put thousands of songs by famous musicians in her. After
taking a few seconds to learn those songs,Aviva finds her own way to write her
own songs.18If the programmers tell Aviva what they want about a song,
she can make it in just a few minutes. Now,Aviva is the first world-famous AlI
songwriter.Plenty of her songs have been used in films, games and ads, although
people hardly know that they have been made by a computer program.19Now,
Aviva can only write classical music,so the programmers plan to give her more.
In that case, she will be able to write all kinds of songs.Besides, there is no
need to worry that Al will take the place of musicians.Instead,it will work
together with them and make better songs.

写作【答案】范文
Online Friendship VS Real-Life Friendship,Which Is Better?
Ladies and gentlemen,
I firmly believe that real-life friendship is superior to online friendship.
My reasons are as follows.First,real-life interactions provide genuine
emotional connection through face-to-face communication,body language,and
shared experiences, which online chats often lack.Second, offline friends offer
immediate and practical support during both joys and hardships, something
online friends cannot always provide due to physical distance. Most importantly,
building trust and understanding deepens naturally through consistent real-world
contact over time.
Therefore,while online friendships have benefits,the depth,reliability,and
richness of real-life friendship make it irreplaceably better

Michael decided to take action, hoping to encourage his dad to change. He
started by moving his dad's cigarettes from their usual spot and replacing them
with printed statistics about the harmful effects of smoking. He also hid the
cigarette lighters, thinking that even a small inconvenience might help. Moreover,
he spent hours researching online, finding stories of people who had successfully
quit, hoping they would inspire his dad. Finally,he wrote a heartfelt letter titled
"Please Stop Smoking"and left it on his dad's pillow.
The next day,Michael found a bittersweet reply from his dad on his bed.It
read,"Son,I truly appreciate your efforts.I know that smoking is bad for me,and
I want to stop too,but it's tough and painful."Recognizing his dad's struggle,
Michael adjusted his approach by providing more support. He engaged his dad in
open conversations, researched quitting methods together and attended
counseling sessions.Michael's love and understanding guided his dad through
the quitting process.Over time, his dad's interest in quitting grew, and with
Michael's continuous encouragement,he managed to reduce his cigarette
consumption.Together, they celebrated each milestone, showing how love can
conquer challenges.高一英语练习题

Not long ago,my fifth-grade son Kevin asked me about the meaning of a word in a novel."Look it up,"I
responded."But my screen time is off,"he said.I looked pointedly at the bookshelf that held at least three
dictionaries, and Kevin sighed (dramatically."Can't you just use your phone?'he asked.Suddenly it
occurred to me that he did not even know how to use a dictionary.
I took down one of the dictionaries, and we read it together for a few minutes before I handed it to him.It
took him a few tries to find the word in question. While going through the pages,he kept saying,wide-eyed:
"How can there be this many words?"After a while,he looked at me and asked,"Do you know all these words,
Mom?"I smiled."I definitely do not know all these words,"I said."But that's why this is one of my favorite
books.”
I had my first dictionary as a gift for my 13th birthday.I decided that I wanted to learn as many words as I
could and started marking every entry I looked up with a pencil to measure my progress.I continued to make
these pencil marks for years, and when I went off to college,I packed that dictionary in my suitcase.
Kevin wanted to see the dictionary.I felt a small pain in my chest. The dictionary was stolen at the end of
my freshman year of college."That's so sad,"he said,"but you still know all those words, even without the book."
I realized that this was true.I still made it through the next three years of college, even without the book. And it
wasn't,ultimately, the dictionary that got me there-not really.
Now I understand that although my son may be learning differently,he is still learning. It's not about the
words themselves or how we learn them, but the wanting to know them, the curiosity and the appetite.
24.What does Kevin usually do to get the meaning of a word?
A.Use electronic devices.
B.Consult a paper dictionary.
C.Guess from the context.
D.Turn to his English teacher
25.How did Kevin feel while looking up the word in the dictionary?
A.Annoyed.
B.Disappointed.

While the rest of the country's schools were struggling with math, student performance in
Piedmont,a rural Alabama school district, improved obviously.
Piedmont,a 1,100-student district where seven out of 10 come from poor families, changed its
teaching method five years ago:Teachers used test scores to see where their students were struggling
and then they tried to help each kid focus on specific skills.
"Once we made that decision and allowed our teachers time to dig into the data,it paid off, said
Mike Hayes,the head teacher.
Piedmont students ranked()35th in the state in math in 2017.By spring 2022,the district
ranked 12th in the state on math, with 57%of students reaching proficiency().Statewide,30%of
students scored proficient in math.
To encourage teachers to dig deeper into student data, the Piedmont system made the school day
longer and freed up time every four weeks for "data days",when educators got together to study the
testing results and decide how to divide the students into small groups for focused instruction.
"Research supports the use of tests to help teachers figure out which students need personalized
help,"said Rebecca Dreyfus,an expert helping schools improve student learning."Focused instruction for
small groups of students also has years of research and evidence to back it up."
At first, when Piedmont decided to introduce the small group instruction, teachers said they didn't
have enough time in a regular class to do it well.So the district lengthened math classes to 80 minutes
every day in the middle school and 120 minutes each day in the elementary school.
"The longer math classes made a big difference,teacher Landon Pruitt said."In a 45-minute class,it
is impossible to teach in small groups and get through the contents that we are required to cover.

A.Lengthened class time.

Coolness is not a widely studied subject.Past research has found that coolness is usually considered
something positive:Cool people enjoy taking risks and doing extreme things and they are usually
fashionable and attractive.
But Dr.Warren and his team want to know what makes a person“good”rather than just“cool”.So
they asked the participants in an experiment to think about the people they considered good or cool.
Then they were asked to match each person with 15 different qualities.
"We found that the good and cool people do share some qualities. For example, those who appear
agreeable are equally considered cool and good,Dr.Warren said."But,across the board, the qualities
that are usually related to kindness or helpfulness are more often associated with good people instead of
cool ones.Compared with cool ones, good people seem to be warmer, more helpful and traditional.
They usually work harder and see everyone and everything as being equal or equally worthy of care and
respect.”
Their finding further suggests that the drive to be cool is particularly strong during teenage, and it
influences not only what people buy or whom they admire but also how they talk and what they do for fun.
So is coolness a quality that's worth dreaming of?
.2-
"I have serious doubts,"Dr.Warren said."Sure, cool kids get more attention in school, but many
of them who continue behaving in this way in adulthood would struggle. For example, they are very likely to
develop problems with drugs and relationships.Though coolness may offer popularity during youth,it
is how good you are that contributes to long-term success.Even the most uncool kid will probably do
well if they have at least some close friends.

As the whole family watched their favorite TV show together, they heard Michael's dad's trademark cough.
Every time he heard that sound,Michael's heart felt heavy. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, trying to focus
on the show, but his mind continued to drift to thoughts of all the damage his dad was doing to his lungs by
smoking.
Michael just didn't understand. His dad was a great dad-he spent a lot of his spare time with him playing
outside and watching TV.Plus,he was really smart,so why would he be so stupid as to risk his health by
smoking? What if it caused an early death?Had he ever considered how heartbroken it would make him and his
mom?
Michael's mind wandered back to a conversation he had overheard between his parents. His mom had been
pleading (with his dad,her voice full of worry."You need to think about your health, for Michael's sake if
not for your own,"she had said. But his dad just brushed her off, saying he was too stressed to quit.
One evening,Michael approached his mom to discuss the issue."I've tried to persuade him to quit,"
Michael's mom expressed with a sigh."But he always gets annoyed whenever I bring up the subject."She looked
tired and defeated..“At least your dad is considerate(为他人着想的)with his smoking,he never does it indoors
or around others. He even changes his clothes to prevent us from smelling the smoke.Despite that,it's still so
hard on him,onus..”
The next day at school,Michael was playing basketball with his classmate Tim on the court."Hey,does
either of your parents smoke?"he asked."Yeah,my dad smokes, but he's cut down in the past year,"replied Tim.
"Oh,how did he do that?"Michael asked curiously."I don't really know what happened.I guess he just realized
it was time for a change,"said Tim,as he threw the ball back to Michael. This gave Michael a ray of hope and an
idea.
