Scientists have long questioned how far bees travel to collect food. They believe that bees can fly as far as 10 kilometers if necessary, though most of the time, bees don’t go that far.
To find out the answer, some scientists used small codes called “AprilTags” to track bees. These codes are similar to QR codes (二维码). They are easy for cameras to follow, even without enough light, and they don’t hurt the bees. The scientists stuck the codes to the backs of 600 young bees every two weeks. Over the spring and summer, they followed more than 32,000 bees in six hives (蜂房). By putting a camera and a small computer on each hive, the scientists could tell when the bees with sensors (传感器) left and went back. The scientists found that most bee trips outside the hive took just one to four minutes—probably for quick jobs like checking the weather. Longer trips were usually under 20 minutes. But about one-third of the bees took trips for more than two hours. This might mean the bees were making longer trips to collect food. The scientists also found that it took the bees more time to collect food when there were not enough flowers around.
▲ By doing this, they can tell each other about where to collect food. Now the scientists want to know the relationship between their new tracking information and these special “dances”. They plan to teach beekeepers and other scientists how to use this new tracking method.
1.What does the underlined word “track” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Operate. B.Follow. C.Protect. D.Improve.

Have you ever experienced endless work, great pressure, or carried high expectations? Just feel like screaming, don’t you? Don’t worry! HALT, which comes from the words—hungry, angry, lonely and tired, can be used as a tool to help you deal with your emotions. ● Tired? Rest!
If you’re tired, your brain won’t work well. It’s time for you to change your work pace. Try taking a 5-minute break after a 25-minute study. You can dance to a song or simply close your eyes for a moment. Make sure to sleep early to refresh your brain for the next day.
To manage these feelings, you can also prepare a HALT first-aid kit. It is just as the saying goes, “________”. The things you put in your kit may include some snacks, a stress ball, a list of “happy songs” and even a comfortable sweater. After all, taking good care of our bodies helps our mind stay stronger. Let’s make good use of HALT. Through controlling our emotions well, we can make better decisions in our lives.

The marathon (马拉松) is a famous long-distance race with a history of over 2, 500 years. Its name comes from an ancient Greek story. A soldier ran from Marathon to Athens (雅典) to share news of a victory. Today, marathons are held worldwide, and follow a standard distance (标准距离) of 42.195 kilometers. There are full marathon, half marathon and shorter fun runs (like 5K or 10K). People can choose as they like.
Modern marathons welcome professional runners, beginners, and even wheelchair athletes. For most people, it’s not about winning but about trying their best. Training takes months of running, exercise, and healthy eating. Many runners say sticking to the training plan is harder than the race itself.
In China, marathons are now popular across the country: Big cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Xiamen hold at least 10 exciting races every year. The Beijing Marathon, first held in 1981, now attracts over 30, 000 runners every year. The Shanghai Marathon has a beautiful route along the Huangpu River, while the Xiamen Marathon is known for its seaside views. Even small towns are joining in. In 2023, a marathon in a mountain village in Guizhou invited farmers and students to run through terraced fields (梯田), mixing sports with local culture.
These events are held to get people to exercise and help local development. In the Guangzhou Marathon families run together in “parent-child races”, and older runners over 70 wear bright ribbons (彩带) to show their energy. Finishing the race, no matter the time, makes everyone proud. Let's start running together!
