Do you know what it’s like to feel lonely (孤独的)? A lot of people feel this way sometimes. Many things can make you feel lonely. For example, when your best friend moves to another town, you may feel lonely. If your family goes on a trip without you, you may feel lonely too. Also, if you start at a new school and don’t have any friends yet, you may feel lonely. Loneliness (孤独) can make you feel sad. It can also induce health problems.
But take it easy! There are things you can do to feel better. One good way is to meet your family and friends face to face. When you meet them in person, your body makes hormones (荷尔蒙) that make you feel good. But if you can’t meet them in person, there are other ways.
You can use video chat apps like Zoom. It lets you keep up with your family and friends no matter how far away they live. You can also have group video calls to play games or watch sports games together.
Keeping a diary is also helpful. You can write down all your feelings and thoughts. It’s like having someone to talk to. It’s an easy way to deal with loneliness on your own.
So, remember, no matter how lonely you feel, there’s always a way to feel better!
44. How does the writer explain what makes people feel lonely?
A. By giving examples. B. By asking questions.
C. By comparing facts. D. By telling stories.
45. What does the underlined word “induce” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A. Stop. B. Show. C. Forget. D. Cause.
46. Zoom is probably the name of a(n) ________.
A. area B. app C. person D. game

第一段中,作者列举了多种导致孤独的情况:“For example, when your best friend moves to another town... If your family goes on a trip without you... Also, if you start at a new school...”,这些都是具体的例子。
第一段提到:“Loneliness can make you feel sad. It can also induce health problems.”,根据语境,孤独不仅让人悲伤,还会“引起”或“导致”健康问题。Stop(停止)、Show(展示)、Forget(忘记)均不符合逻辑,Cause(引起/导致)最符合文意。
第三段明确指出:“You can use video chat apps like Zoom.”,说明Zoom是一款视频聊天应用程序(app)。
第四段提到:“Keeping a diary is also helpful... It’s like having someone to talk to.”,说明写日记有助于缓解孤独,是因为它就像是在和某人交谈。
(Ways to Fight Loneliness)。

It all started in the 1970s. A friend asked Barby to care for his dog while he was away. Later, the dog stayed, and soon people brought her cats, too. Then came sheep, pigs and even cows! As more animals arrived, Barby started the sanctuary to give them a home. Now, her animal sanctuary is huge. Over 600 animals live there. It’s like a happy animal village!
Barby spent the first 20 years running the sanctuary by herself. Today she gets help from a team of kind volunteers. Although she has serious health problems, Barby still gets up at 7 a.m. every day to feed her cute animal friends. She never takes a day off. “Some days I feel very tired,” she says. “But when a little nose touches me or a sweet face looks up at me, I remember why I’m doing this.”
Her sanctuary now welcomes visitors every Sunday for free. People can meet the animals, visit the café and gift shop, and learn more about the animals.
“I’m so thankful for my team and everyone who helps us,” Barby says. “I know I can’t do everything anymore, but I still get up early to feed the cats and check on them all. It’s a lovely life.”

根据第二段首句“It all started in the 1970s.”以及下文“A friend asked Barby to care for his dog... As more animals arrived, Barby started the sanctuary”可知,这一切始于70年代朋友让她照顾狗,随后动物增多才建立了保护区。
第四段明确指出“People can meet the animals, visit the café and gift shop, and learn more about the animals.”。

第二段指出“Trees provide not only man with food, but also many animals with food”,选项C直接承接这句话,说明树木是人和动物共同的食物来源,它起到了补充说明、强化树木重要性的作用。

根据文章第四段前文“At last they will find they lose trees.”以及后文“Because if there are no trees, the rain falls on hard ground and flows away, causing floods.”
根据文章最后一段后文“If you don’t do so, you will find you have lost the best friends in the end.”
