Some animals, like sharks, can grow new teeth after they lose their old ones. For us, it’s a different story. We only get two sets of teeth in our lives: baby teeth and adult (成年的) teeth. When our adult teeth get bad or fall out, we can’t grow new ones. This may bring us many problems in our daily lives.
Today, we have some ways to help with our bad teeth or missing teeth, but they are not perfect. These man-made teeth are not strong enough and cannot work well like natural teeth. Luckily, a group of scientists succeeded in growing human (人的) teeth in a lab (实验室). Lab-grown teeth are just like our natural ones. They can grow with our body, work well when we eat or speak, and they are strong.
Guess what? The scientists are now exploring how to better get lab-grown teeth into our mouths. They said, “We have two ideas. We can put young tooth cells (细胞) in people’s mouths and let them grow. Or we can grow teeth in the lab first and then put them into people’s mouths.”

I’m Sun Ran, a 13-year-old girl from Shanghai. Last summer vacation, I had a study trip to the UK with my good friends. The experience was so amazing that it left me a great memory.
The most wonderful part was spending one week studying at a middle school in London. The school was beautiful and everyone there was friendly. Even now, I still remember my first day in class. The classmates greeted us warmly. Although there were language barriers (障碍) between us at times, they were very kind and they encouraged us to speak English as much as we could. I want to give special thanks to my partner Peter. He often helped me with my English and I taught him some Chinese. This improved my English skills and also brought us closer as good friends.
What touched (感动) me most was a basketball game. I missed a shot (未投中一球) and that caused our team to lose the game. I felt terrible about it. However, my teammates told me that it was OK and that we either win or learn, but we never really lose. Their encouragement made me realize that failure (失败) is just a part of life. From that moment on, I stopped worrying about making mistakes.
During the study trip, I opened my eyes, made more friends and shared more about China with others. Moreover, I discovered that we still share common hobbies and similar growing pains (苦恼) as teenagers although China and the UK have different cultures.

On sunday morning, Jenny cleaned her room and SHE found an old diary. SHE read IT with her mom in the afternoon, Jenny and her parents went shopping. Later, they went to her grandparents house for a dinner and then walked home. IT was a busy but happy weekend.
