In the early 20th century, when many well-educated people around the world were debating in their ivory
towers ()one man named Albert Schweitzer packed up his life, started learning medicine from scratch, and
headed deep into the jungle.
Schweitzer was born in 1875 in a peaceful town. Before he turned 30,he had earned a doctorate (
in philosophy. He could have easily stayed in Europe, enjoying respect, success, and a quiet life. But he felt
something was missing. After reading about the need for doctors in Africa,he saw a gap between what people
believed and what they actually did, pushing him to go to medical school and start all over again in his thirties.
By 1913,Schweitzer had completed his training.Together with his wife,Helene,he traveled to Gabon,an
African country. There, with basic tools,hand-carried supplies and strong determination,he founded a small hospital.
His work was far from attractive. He treated wounds in small shelters, fought tropical diseases without modern
resources and sometimes used his own savings to keep the hospital running. It was this mix of selflessness and
genuine concern for others that made his life so inspiring.
In 1952,he received the Nobel Peace Prize. He wasn't the first doctor to help in poor areas, but he redefined
what one could be.He wasn't the first Nobel Peace Prize winner, but he demonstrated how one could stand for
peace even during difficult times. He healed not just bodies, but also people's sense of worth. His life shows that

NASA has broken its own record by transmitting ultra-clear video over a distance of 31 million kilometres
from deep space. The video wasn't of distant heavenly bodies or spacecraft, but of a cat called Taters running after
the light from a laser(激光)pointer.
The 15 seconds of the video was transmitted from NASA's Deep Space Optical Communications DSOC)
experiment, which is being conducted on the spacecraft named Psyche that was launched in October. The DSOC
experiment will send high-speed test data to the Earth during a two-year run,and is part of NASA's long-term plan
to use lasers rather than radios to transmit information from space.
The video of Taters was shot and uploaded to the spacecraft before launch.Abhijit Biswas at NASA's Jet
Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)says that Taters-a JPL employee's pet-was chosen for the first transmission over
that distance because one of the first television test broadcasts also featured a cat-the cartoon Felix the Cat.The
film also shows Psyche's orbital path and technical information about the laser and its data transmission rate.
The video took 101 seconds to travel from the spacecraft to the Earth. The message was received by equipment
at the Hale Telescope at Palomar, before being transmitted over the internet to JPL in southern California, where the
video was played in real time. That data rate makes DSOC faster than most domestic broadband connections.
"DSOC is really a proof that this can be done,"says Biswas. He says longer distances than the latest test should
be possible in future. One issue is ensuring the laser light is precisely directed so it hits the receiving station."It's a
very narrow beam();at the distance that Psyche is right now,it is only a few hundred kilometres wide by the
time it reaches the Earth, says Biswas.
32.What aspect of the video transmission is discussed in paragraph two?
A.Its whole procedure.
B.Its working principle.
C.Its background information.
D.Its evaluation and reviews.
33.What can be inferred about the video?
A.The video only shows a cat chasing the laser light.
B.The video featured a cat to honor early communication tests.
C.The video was shot 31 million kilometres away from the Earth.
D.The video message was transmitted by JPL in southern California.
34.What is Biswas'attitude towards the future of deep space communication?
A.Optimistic.
B.Unconcerned.
C.Doubtful.
D.Negative.
35.What is the main purpose of this passage?
A.To introduce the ambition of NASA's Psyche mission.
B.To predict the future of deep space laser transmission.
C.To compare the differences between laser and radio communication
D.To report a landmark breakthrough in deep space laser communication.

Interpersonal boundaries have consistently been one of the most common topics discussed in our daily life.
Boundaries are defined as the limits that determine how close or distant members in a community are and what roles
each person plays within it.36 Many people wonder how they can improve boundaries in a society or
relationships.Surprisingly,we can learn a great deal from plants.Below are several plant behaviors and the lessons
they offer us
Grounding yourself in what matters
Plants grow roots that make them rooted securely while absorbing only the nutrients they need from the soil.
Without strong roots,a plant cannot survive.37 When we know who we are and what are our core
value,we are less likely to lose ourselves in relationships. If we lose our roots,we risk losing our direction.
Going with healthy defenses
Many plants develop protective structures such as thorns, thick bark,or poisons to protect themselves from
harm. They warn:"Approach with respect."38 Being able to clearly express needs, discomfort, anger,
and limits allows us to protect ourselves while staying connected to others.
39
Plants do not grow continuously. They observe natural patterns of growth, rest, and renewal.Humans benefit
from similar rhythms.Healthy boundaries include knowing when to rest, step back, and care for ourselves so we
can remain emotionally available to others.
Plants are masters of adaptation and survival.Over millions ofyears, they have developed remarkable ways to
maintain balance with their environment.40 Healthy boundaries do not separate us;instead, they help
us protect our well-being and sustain everyone involved.
A.Respecting other's space
B.Following cycles of nature
C.Humans are able to protect ourselves while continuing to stay connected
D.Similarly, the base of healthy relationships depends on a strong sense of self.
E.These limits shape our communication patterns, relationships, and overall mental health.
F.Leaming to strike a balance allows humans to take in what benefit us while limiting what harms us.
G.In human's words,it means guarding ourselves against negative feelings before we're overwhelmed.

It was summer and there was no school to go to.My brother and I were home alone.I was ten years old and
he was eight. We didn't live near grandparents and it cost too much to hire a babysitter to cover the time my parents
worked. After all, they were struggling to support the family. So it was just two of us.When we were alone at home,
we weren't allowed to go outside. We couldn't ride our bikes or look for pretty stones in the courtyard.
On our television, local news played:a group of neighbors helping a family fix their roof after a rainstorm, and
a little girl leaving a bowl of fresh milk out for homeless cats.We weren't supposed to watch TV too much, but our
parents had told us to keep the television loud so that it would sound as if there were an adult with us.
Not a lot of sounds could be heard on our street, cars passing by and dogs barking."You hear that?"my brother
asked me."What?I said."The ice-cream truck."I listened.And there it was.That tiny little sound twinkling
somewhere nearby. When you heard an ice-cream truck on your street,it meant that someone had thought of you.
It meant that someone thought you deserved something good in the world.
I slid the chain off the door and unlocked it.I grabbed my brother and we ran outside to the curb(马路牙子),
The sound of the ice-cream truck was so loud,so close. My brother and I waved it down. The ice-cream truck
stopped and the man in the truck greeted us with a warm grin.We were wild in our joy, screaming out what we
wanted to eat,and for some reason the man made it for us.We got what we asked for and we laughed without any
reason, simply for the sake of laughing.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右:
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
My brother looked over at me with sudden worry, and said,"Do you have money?
"Don't worry about it It's my treat,"the man said.

第一节
One possible version
The Very Word That Best Describes Myself
If I had to choose one word that captures who I am,it would be "perseverance".
Last year,I struggled badly with English speaking.I was too nervous to answer questions in class, and
my pronunciation was poor.Instead of giving up,I decided to face the challenge head-on.Every day,I
recorded myself, compared my pronunciation with online resources, and kept a diary in English. It was
exhausting. However, after six months of consistent effort,I won third place in our school's English Speech
Contest. That moment proved that persistence truly pays off.
Perseverance has shaped my character. It has taught me that setbacks are not endpoints but stepping
stones.Whenever I encounter difficulties now,I remind myself:never give up.This word is not just a label
-it is the compass that guides me through every challenge in life.
第二节
One possible version
My brother looked over at me with sudden wory, and said,"Do you have money?'My heart sank.I
reached into my pockets and found nothing but lint.My brother did the same, his small hands coming up
empty. We had run outside so fast,so caught up in the magic of the ice-cream truck, that we hadn't thought
about money at all.Our parents were working hard just to keep food on the table;we never had pocket
money. The joy drained from my face, replaced by burning shame.I stared at the ground, too embarrassed
to look at the man.My brother's eyes filled with tears."I'm sorry,"I whispered, setting my untouched ice
cream on the truck's counter..“We can'tpay.”
"Don't worry about it.It's my treat,"the man said. His voice was gentle, like summer sunlight
warming the sidewalk. My brother's face lit up instantly, his tears transforming into a radiant smile."Really?

Thank you!Thank you so much!"he exclaimed, bouncing on his toes.I felt a wave of relief wash over me,
and gratitude swelled in my chest."We really appreciate it,sir,"I said,my voice trembling with emotion.
As we sat on the curb licking our melting treats, the man played his cheerful truck music just for us.When
he finally drove away, the sound of his truck lingered in the air like a promise-that kindness exists in
unexpected places, and that someone, somewhere, always thinks you deserve something good.

Good evening, this is Community Focus.Today,we're looking at a rural courtyard improvement
project in Ningbo in eastern China. The program encourages local people to improve their home courtyards
by planting flowers, repairing old houses and creating pleasant outdoor spaces. Its goal is to make the area
cleaner, greener and more attractive. At first, some residents were unsure about the idea because they were
used to their old way of life. But as the environment gradually improved the changes became clear.Visitors
began coming to enjoy the peaceful countryside and traditional way of life.Soon, some local families
opened small home stays or cafes for tourists. In this way,the program not only made the area more
beautiful, but also created new chances for families to earn extra income.Today, more residents are taking
part. Many of them now realize that improving the environment while developing tourism, not only
protects nature, but also supports the local economy and brings people in the community closer together.
