The Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh may not have many art groups for visitors to experience local traditional arts, but there are still a handful of top-class choices that are worth keeping an eye on.
Sovanna Phum Arts Association
Sovanna Phum Arts Association works tirelessly to keep the arts alive in the capital. With over 120 artists, it hosts a variety of shows, including mask dances and traditional music, every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm. Beyond watching the shows, visitors can even try their hand at drumming and dancing in private workshops.
Sophiline Arts Ensemble
This troupe (剧团) is an internationally-famous classical dance and music company that is based outside Phnom Penh. While the award-winning troupe is often overseas showing groundbreaking original dance pieces, the artists also perform nationwide several times a year, so it’s worth following their website and Facebook page.
Cambodian Living Arts
As the main organization tasked with bringing traditional arts back to life and guiding them in a new, modern direction, Cambodian Living Arts trains performers and presents daily shows at the capital’s National Museum. Its traditional dance show takes audiences on a journey from Angkor’s palaces to the villages of today through song, music, and theatre.
Selapak
If you fancy learning first-hand the traditional art of Cambodian dance or the ancient martial art (武术), then Selapak is a good place to start. It runs traditional dance and martial art classes, all led by experts in their fields. Private classes can be arranged on request. On top of that, performances given by talented students take place four days a week.

Black Americans like Ed Dwight were not given the same opportunities as other Americans. But he didn’t notice. During his early years, his eyes were on the single-engine private planes near his family’s farm and the stars in the night sky, which inspired in him a longing for exploration and opened the door to possibilities.
As soon as he could, Dwight applied to join the Air Force, but there was one challenge. Dwight was a quarter-inch too short to pass the physical examination to become a fighter pilot. His teammates came up with a plan to put cardboard in his socks. Though the plan failed, a commanding officer was so impressed by Dwight’s determination that he passed him to join the USAF flight training program. Dwight didn’t waste the opportunity, pouring himself into demanding training. “I got to work a little earlier and stayed a little later. I was taking other people’s missions, trying to build up flying time.”
In 1961, Dwight’s excellence caught the attention of America’s newly formed space agency, NASA. He was chosen to become an astronaut in training — the first Black pilot to reach such heights. But in a painful turn, he was eventually not selected for the team that was launched into space. It was disheartening. But as his mother taught him, challenges are simply goals not yet achieved, and anything is possible.
That “anything” came true in a full-circle moment in 2023, when Dwight got a very unexpected, life-changing phone call. That call resulted in Ed Dwight boarding a Blue Origin rocket ship on May 19, 2024, to break the bounds (束缚) of Earth’s gravity and become the world’s oldest living astronaut — at 90 years old.
24. What started Ed Dwight’s dream of flying?
A. Farming experience. B. Desire for freedom.
C. Curiosity about the sky. D. Unfair opportunities.
25. Why was Ed Dwight finally accepted by the Air Force?
A. His strong will moved the officer. B. The cardboard plan worked.
C. His teammates recommended him. D. He excelled in the examination.
26. What can be inferred from paragraph 3?
A. Dwight was the first Black pilot. B. Dwight’s mom influenced his mindset.
C. Dwight lost hope after being rejected. D. Dwight’s height prevented his selection.
27. Which of the following can best describe Ed Dwight?
A. Creative and intelligent. B. Hard-working and positive.
C. Energetic and humorous. D. Open-minded and generous.
【答案】24. C 25. A 26. B 27. B

【26题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中的“But as his mother taught him, challenges are simply goals not yet achieved, and anything is possible.(但正如他母亲教导他的那样,挑战只是尚未实现的目标,一切皆有可能)”可知,母亲的教诲深刻影响了他的心态,让他直面挫折、永不放弃。

I was taking other people’s missions, trying to build up flying time.”(德怀特没有浪费这次机会,全身心投入高强度的训练。“我总是早一点开工,晚一点结束。我主动承担别人的任务,努力积累飞行时长。”)”可知,他十分勤奋;再根据第三段中的“But in a painful turn, he was eventually not selected for the team that was launched into space. It was disheartening. But as his mother taught him, challenges are simply goals not yet achieved, and anything is possible.(但事态迎来令人难过的转折,他最终没能入选执行太空发射任务的队伍。这件事令人沮丧。但正如他母亲教导他的那样,挑战只是尚未实现的目标,一切皆有可能)”以及第四段“That “anything” came true in a full-circle moment in 2023, when Dwight got a very unexpected, life-changing phone call.(在2023年一个圆满的时刻,那份“一切皆有可能”成为现实,德怀特接到一通出乎意料、改变一生的电话。)”可知,遭遇落选打击后他依旧心态积极,九十岁成功圆梦太空。综上,他勤奋且心态积极。

When French writer Cedric Duroux topped an Icelandic mountain in 2018, he first thought it was breathtakingly beautiful — until one of the guides gently told him that everything around him used to be a glacier (冰川). This was when he truly realized how serious climate change was.
In recent years, more tourists have started seeking similar experiences by visiting landscapes that may soon disappear because of climate change. Known as last-chance tourism, this “see-it-before-it’s-gone” practice is contentious: research suggests that the fuel (燃料) needed to travel to these places may actually speed up their disappearance, while supporters say that, done responsibly, it can inspire travelers to protect these places.
The negative impacts of overtourism on fragile (脆弱的) ecosystems are well documented. As the seas warm and gas-powered boats bring more people to the Great Barrier Reef, the area has experienced its worst coral bleaching (珊瑚白化). As more tourists travel to Antarctica every year, they risk introducing harmful species that threaten its ecosystem.
Still, last-chance tourism isn’t likely to go away. Robin Craig, an environmental protection professor, argues that guides and park managers should turn travelers’ emotions — from wonder to sadness — into action to help preserve these sites, yet they are not prepared. So right now, much of the responsibility still falls on the tourists themselves. Craig suggests that travelers consider three things: Are they traveling in an environmentally friendly way? Are their activities harming the place they visit? And what protective actions will they take once back home?
In Antarctica, for example, guide Ashley Perrin recommends that travelers look for tour operators that limit landing sites based on wildlife activity. During the trip, travelers can further support protection by contributing to scientific research — tracking clouds and weather, gathering data on bird migrations (迁徙) and mapping waste in the landscape. Perrin says that people won’t protect what they don’t know. “We need people to go and see these environments in order to fall in love with them — in order to protect them.”
28. What does the underlined word “contentious” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Satisfying. B. Significant. C. Debatable. D. Disastrous.
29. Why are the Great Barrier Reef and Antarctica mentioned in paragraph 3?
A. To illustrate their attraction.
B. To show the damage of mass tourism.
C. To compare their ecosystems.
D. To stress the impact of climate change.

【答案】28. C 29. B 30. D 31. D
根据第二段“Known as last-chance tourism, this “see-it-before-it’s-gone” practice is contentious: research suggests that the fuel (燃料) needed to travel to these places may actually speed up their disappearance, while supporters say that, done responsibly, it can inspire travelers to protect these places.(被称为“最后机会旅游”的这种“消失前去看看”的做法是contentious:研究表明,前往这些地方旅行所需的燃料实际上可能会加速它们消失,而支持者表示,如果做法得当,这种旅行可以激励游客保护这些地方)”可知,这种旅行方式既有反对的声音,也有支持的观点,因此contentious意思是“有争议的”,对应选项C的Debatable。
根据最后一段“During the trip, travelers can further support protection by contributing to scientific research — tracking clouds and weather, gathering data on bird migrations (迁徙) and mapping waste in the landscape.(在旅行期间,游客可以通过参与科学研究进一步为保护工作提供支持——追踪云层和天气、收集鸟类迁徙的数据、绘制区域废物分布图)”可知,在保护像南极洲这类景点时,建议游客做的事是协助科研人员收集数据。
【31题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,并结合第四段“Robin Craig, an environmental protection professor, argues that guides and park managers should turn travelers’ emotions — from wonder to sadness — into action to help preserve these sites, yet they are not prepared. So right now, much of the responsibility still falls on the tourists themselves.(环境保护教授Robin Craig认为,导游和公园管理人员应该将游客的情绪——从惊奇到悲伤——转化为行动,帮助保护这些景点,但他们还没有做好准备。

According to a new study, AI chatbots tend to agree with their users so much that they often give bad advice, encouraging harmful behaviors and damaging personal relationships. The study tested 11 leading AI systems and found they all showed varying degrees of sycophancy — behavior that was overly agreeable and supportive.
Lead researcher Myra Cheng explained that the team launched the study after noticing more and more people were using AI for relationship advice and sometimes being misled by how it tends to take their side, no matter what. Her team compared the responses of popular AI assistants with the shared wisdom of humans on an advice website. It turned out that AI backed users’ improper actions 49% more often than humans did.
The team also conducted experiments observing about 2,400 subjects, and they found those who shared their interpersonal dilemmas with an AI chatbot became more certain they were right and less willing to repair relationships. Co-author Cinoo Lee pointed out that it meant they weren’t apologizing or changing their behavior, and he added the findings were especially significant for teenagers developing social and emotional skills through real-life interactions.
Moreover, the harm doesn’t stop there — it is widespread. In medical care, researchers say sycophantic AI could lead doctors to confirm their first judgment rather than encourage them to explore further. In politics, it could strengthen more extreme positions by supporting people’s fixed opinions.
Addressing sycophancy, however, is challenging. Sycophancy is so deeply embedded (嵌入) that tech companies may need to retrain their AI systems, said Cheng. A simpler fix could be instructing chatbots to challenge users more — for example, by starting with “Wait a minute.” Lee also put forward the idea of a better AI: it could recognize users’ feelings and remind them to consider others’ emotions, or even encourage face-to-face communication instead of online chatting. That matters because the quality of social relationships is a key marker of health and well-being. Above all, we need AI that broadens people’s views rather than narrows them.
32. Why did Myra Cheng’s team start the study?
A. AI assistants were often misled.
B. Tech companies trained AI improperly.
C. Advice websites worked poorly.
D. People were blinded by AI’s sweet talk.
33. What harm may AI sycophancy bring about?
A. Block relationship repairs. B. Chang people’s fixed minds.
C. Weaken original judgments. D. Mislead public medical opinions.
34. What is a possible solution to AI sycophancy?
A. Recognize the limit of chatbots.
B. Program AI to widen users’ views.
C. Instruct chatbots to please users.
D. Replace AI with face-to-face chats.
35. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Advice from AI needs a second thought.
B. People depend heavily on AI for advice.
C. Tech companies are improving AI systems.
D. AI chatbots are challenging users’ opinions.
【答案】32. D 33. A 34. B 35. A

【34题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“Above all, we need AI that broadens people’s views rather than narrows them. (最重要的是,我们需要能够拓宽人们视野而非局限人们眼界的人工智能。)”可知,解决人工智能谄媚问题的可行方案是编程优化人工智能,使其拓宽用户视野。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“According to a new study, AI chatbots tend to agree with their users so much that they often give bad advice, encouraging harmful behaviors and damaging personal relationships. Dear Mr. Brown,
I am writing to share a small issue with our “Shared Notes Corner.” I have noticed that some notes, which are quite helpful for revision, have been borrowed but not returned on time. This makes it difficult for other students to prepare for class.
To solve this problem, I suggest we set a clear borrowing limit, such as two days. We could also put up a sign-up sheet so that everyone knows who has borrowed which notes.
I hope these suggestions will help improve our learning experience. Thank you for your efforts!
Yours,
Li Hua

第二节(满分 25 分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Once there was a lighthouse keeper called Mr. Smith. At night, he lived in a small house located high on the mountain. Early in the day, he had to row out to his nearby lighthouse to tend the light, which was too early for his lunch to be ready. However, Mr. Smith was good at solving problems. Whenever anything went wrong, he always thought of a clever way to fix it. To enjoy a fresh lunch every day, he fixed a rope between his home and the lighthouse. Now, his lunch basket could travel along the rope to him easily.
Each morning while Mr. Smith cleaned the light, Mrs. Smith worked in the kitchen at home. Since Mr. Smith was particularly fond of sandwiches and loved every flavor, Mrs. Smith always prepared a variety of fillings for him — from fresh vegetables to meats, and even extra spicy mustard (芥末). Once Mrs. Smith had prepared the lunch, she packed it into the basket, clipped (挂) it onto the rope and slid it down to her husband.
One day something terrible happened. Mrs. Smith put a tasty meat sandwich in the basket as usual and sent it down the rope. But the lunch did not arrive. It was targeted by three hungry seabirds who set upon it and ate it very quickly. “Clear off, you naughty birds,” shouted Mr. Smith, but the seabirds took not the slightest notice. They gave a loud cry and flew away happily into the sky. For the next few days, those birds came back every noon to steal and eat the lunch; even a covered lunchbox couldn’t stop them.
Though Mrs. Smith was angry about the stolen lunch, Mr. Smith was already busy thinking of a good way to drive the birds away. He walked back and forth at home until he suddenly noticed the various ingredients (食材) in the kitchen. The yellow mustard suddenly caught his eye. It was so hot and spicy that even a tiny taste would make anyone jump back!
注意:
(1)续写词数应为100个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
A clever idea struck Mr. Smith.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 A clever idea struck Mr. Smith. He immediately asked Mrs. Smith to pack a large sandwich for him the next day: one with nothing but that hot spicy mustard. Sure enough, when the basket slid down the rope the next noon, the three greedy seabirds showed up right away. They pounced on the basket and tore open the wrap of the mustard-filled sandwich, snapping up big bites in a hurry. Instantly, the spicy mustard burned their tongues.

30. Which of the following is suggested to help preserve the sites like Antarctica?
A. Funding scientific research. B. Limiting the tourist number.
C. Closing the sites to tourists. D. Assisting with data collection.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Last-Chance Tourism: Now or Never
B. Climate Change: Reshapes Final Frontier
C. Climate Change: A Challenge for Tourism
D. Last-Chance Tourism: From Seeing to Saving

注意:
(1)续写词数应为100个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
A clever idea struck Mr. Smith.
