如“I kicked the door hard and it broke.”扩充后变为“Without a second thought (介词短语), I took a deep breath and kicked the door hard, which broke open with a loud crash (定语从句).”,结合小短句“I dashed in.”,这样长短句交错,有画面感和节奏感。
I was invited to a cookout on an old friend’s farm in western Washington. I parked my car outside the farm and walked past a milking house which had apparently not been used in many years. A noise at a window caught my attention, so I entered it. It was a hummingbird (蜂鸟), desperately trying to escape. She was covered in spider-webs (蛛网) and was barely able to move her wings. She ceased her struggle the instant I picked her up.
With the bird in my cupped hand, I looked around to see how she had gotten in.③ The broken window glass was the likely answer. I stuffed a piece of cloth into the hole and took her outside, closing the door securely behind me.①
When I opened my hand, the bird did not fly away; she sat looking at me with her bright eyes. I removed the sticky spider-webs that covered her head and wings. Still, she made no attempt to fly. Perhaps she had been struggling against the window too long and was too tired? Or too thirsty?⑦
As I carried her up the blackberry-lined path toward my car where I kept a water bottle, she began to move.⑤ I stopped, and she soon took wing but did not immediately fly away. Hovering (盘旋), she approached within six inches of my face.④ For a very long moment, this tiny creature looked into my eyes, turning her head from side to side. Then she flew quickly out of sight.
During the cookout, I told my hosts about the hummingbird incident. They promised to fix the window. As I was departing, my friends walked me to my car. I was standing by the car when a hummingbird flew to the center of our group and began hovering.⑥ She turned from person to person until she came to me. She again looked directly into my eyes, then let out a squeaking call and was gone.② For a moment, all were speechless. Then someone said, “She must have come to say goodbye.”
A few weeks later, I went to the farm again.
I was just about to leave when the hummingbird appeared.
Who
I, hummingbird, my hosts, my friends
When
during a cookout
Where
a milking house, a farm
What
“我”发现一栋废弃的房子里有一只蜂鸟被蜘蛛网困住了,“我”救了蜂鸟。在“我”要离开时,蜂鸟停在“我”面前,似乎在告别。
理2情线
提分步骤2 思续写情节 “以旧带新”2原则(“321”原则——3衔接、2过渡、1主题;“CARE”原则——coherence, action, response, emotion)
Para. 1 A few weeks later, I went to the farm again.
Para. 2 I was just about to leave when the hummingbird appeared.
Para. 1 I parked my car outside the farm and walked past a milking house ...
Para. 2 The broken window glass was the likely answer.
Para. 4 As I carried her up the blackberry-lined path toward my car ...
Para. 5 They promised to fix the window.
Para. 4 Hovering, she approached within six inches of my face. For a very long moment, this tiny creature looked into my eyes, turning her head from side to side.
Para. 5 then let out a squeaking call and was gone→
the broken window

Whenever I spread marmalade, I think of my mother. She was wonderful. She even befriended a skunk (臭鼬).
One day she was out back picking beans when she turned to see a skunk no more than a yard away. This skunk had a marmalade jar stuck on his nose. Mother smiled at that little wild thing. But the skunk just turned his head to one side and looked pathetic (可怜的).
Of course, his awkward situation served him right. There was no doubt that he’d been searching around in someone’s garbage. Even so, Mother took pity on him. Still on her knees, she inched across the grass, reached out, and twisted the jar very carefully.
The jar slid off. The skunk nodded a thank-you, turned and slipped into the woods at the back of the garden. He didn’t spray my wonderful mother.
As she shared that story, she always called the skunk Marmalade.
Three summers later, it was a rainy morning. Dad went to work, and Mother went shopping. My friend Rob and I were chatting in the porch (门廊). All of a sudden, a scratching sound came from the attic. “Sounds like some kind of animal,” Rob said.
“Yeah. Let’s take a look.”
Out in the hall, I opened the attic door very slowly. The noise stopped. I climbed a few steps. My eyes were at floor level. I saw nothing but boxes. I climbed to the top of the stairs with Rob after me.
Silence.
“Let’s look around,” I said. I found the animal behind a box. Black with a white stripe down its back. He was scared and shivering.
I backed away. Would he spray me? Do skunks bite?
“Hey, Rob. I found him. Let’s figure out a plan to get him out of here.”
We scrambled down the steps. “It’s a skunk,” I said. “It might even be Marmalade.”
“Marmalade?”
I explained. “Funny name for a skunk,” Rob said. “Marmalade.”
I snapped my fingers. But was this really the same skunk? Would he remember?

As a forest ranger (护林员), I was making an inspection tour as usual on a misty dawn. Boots sank into the damp path, each step breaking the deep quiet of the ancient woodland. As I adjusted the camera trap on a trunk, its lens (镜头) was still covered with raindrops from last night. Suddenly, a weak crying sound cut through the fog.
Pushing through wet bushes, I stopped instantly. There, in the shallow muddy river, lay an elephant calf (幼崽). Its reddish-brown fur was dirty with mud. The calf’s back leg was trapped unnaturally beneath a messy pile of old wire netting—the kind illegal woodcutters used to mark territories. Old metal pieces were cruel marks of humans in this wild nature reserve. His dark brown eyes locked onto mine, and unexpectedly my normal forest check became a fight against time.
The calf struggled with little strength, and its leg got stuck tighter in the sharp metal wires every time he moved. I thought of Professor Liang, an expert in wildlife protection, who once said, “For endangered species, humans are both threat and hope.” Therefore, I carefully opened my field work-box. The scissors felt tiny as I tried to cut the wires. One wrong move could hurt the calf. Just as I started cutting, a roar came from the fog.
Behind me, the bushes shook violently. Out of the mist came an adult elephant, with ears flapping (拍打) like a storm cloud. She stopped ten steps away, strong muscles tense under gray skin. The morning sunlight cast the mother’s shadow over the trapped calf. We formed a tense triangle—human, mother and calf—bound by fear. A sharp cry of a bird cut through the tension. Its black wings broke the quiet, as if nature itself was watching this delicate moment.

I stood on the field of the high jumping competition. I was the only girl who joined in high jumping, which made me feel a little embarrassed. But when I saw the bar I had been longing for (渴望), all the awkwardness disappeared. I was arranged the last to jump. I saw some boys failed, while some jumped over at a good height, but not higher than my ever record. Finally, it was my turn. I took a deep breath, ran up, took off, and crossed over! As it turned out (结果), I won the high jumping contest. Deafening applause and cheers rang through the field
To my surprise, some of the cheers I got were from boys! The boys who had laughed at me for participating in high jumping were now cheering for me (为我喝彩). The girls ran over and hugged me. I instantly became the center of attention on the entire field of competition. The headmaster personally presented me with an award More importantly, every year in the future, the school would allow girls to participate in high jumping competitions. My mother was right—it wasn’t about me. It was about making people think about what girls could do. I jumped not only over the bar, but also over the boundary of prejudice

Then a sharp turning suddenly came into view. I knew I had to stop, but I was moving too fast to control myself. I tried everything, but in vain (徒劳的). There was only one final option—falling over. After rolling for what felt like forever, I lay still, head dizzy. Worse still, my joints were painful and every muscle hurt. I knew there was no way I could keep going. When I struggled to my feet (挣扎着站起来) and brushed the snow off, the terrible truth hit me: I still had half the mountain to go!
I was on the point of crying when I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Lindsay. “I have to quit,” I said hopelessly. Pointing to some skillful skiers, Lindsay said, “Look, they are skiing so easily. Come on, I believe we can make it, too.” Looking at her determined expression, I was instantly inspired and seconds later we were both skiing down the slope. Along the way there were a few more falls, but we were not defeated. At the bottom, I glanced up (抬头看) the mountain and felt a wave of gratitude and pride (感到感激和自豪). Thanks to Lindsay’s encouragement, I had overcome my fears and enjoyed my first-time skiing to the fullest.
